I know it's only two games, but our o-line has looked TERRIBLE in run blocking. Like BAD. I'm not worried...yet.

Yeah the holes just haven't been there like last year. However, Randle really can be armed tackled .

Randle isn't doing too badly considering that the blocking isn't in sync nearly as well as last year. I'd really like nothing better than to see C-Mike active, however. I think he's got the power and explosiveness to help this RB corps. What might be the fly in the ointment right now is getting him comfortable with his blocking assignments. I'm not too sure what he might have been doing in Seattle to concern them but it seemed they were concerned with his inconsistency with regards to his pass blocking. Let's hope the staff finds him performing satisfactorily in that area very soon. I think his talent and power might be exactly what our RB corps sorely needs to improve dramatically.

Randle tried really hard and made some losses into gains but he isn't a very good RB.

He would be great as a back-up like last year but he doesn't have power or vision to be our #1. His goal line carry was very underwhelming.

It is the difference between good and great that we need/want at RB.

Open up your eyes dude. He had one goal line carry, and was met 3 yards in the backfield because Collins couldn't hold his block.

Do some of you people watch the same game???

Randle had a good game...throw the stats out the window. He ran hard and generally created most of his rushing yards when nothing seemingly was available.

You may want to watch it again, it wasn't Collins not holding his block. Randle didn't follow his blocks and cut to the right of Collins where he was met in the backfield by 2 LBers. Collins had his man nicely blocked.

Now none of us knows where the real hole was to be,,, but it wasn't the best lane for Randle to take.

Although Leary was out, which played s role..

Callahan anyone...

Fisher already came out in DC and gave glowing tribute to Callahan, saying it was like playing Dallas OL again.. And the Rams front is supposedly no joke and they aren't threatened by Cousins nor do the Commanders have a major WR threat either, so the Dez is out, stack the box is just an excuse...

Amazing how much certain homers trivialized him based on politics at the Ranch..

I can't say I really know enough about the Commanders run game and talent from last year to this to say if there has been a sudden major improvement. I remember watching RG3 gets hit every time he dropped back in the preseason....but I don't take anything real from preseason....

What just doesn't pass the smell test is the idea that our linemen suddenly forgot how to block because the OL coach left. Maybe if our offense was changed or our blocking scheme ect...but to have the same team and same line from last year suddenly be terrible due to a line coach leaving just doesn't add up.

The only way Callahan would have stayed in Dallas is if he was paid HC money. Dallas wouldn't let him interview for positions at the end of 2013 and they stripped him of play calling at the end of 2013 season. He was professional and did his job last year but no was he re-signing here.

Garrett kept interfering with his duties as play-caller and people this off-season downplayed his role here because of their agenda.

Callahan built our line and now the Reskins are running well against stout fronts like the Dolphins and Rams, with a no threat QB like Cousins in the back-field. And Fisher is coming out and saying that it was like playing the Cowboys OL again.

That being said he was supposedly going to stay, but Gruden came calling and Callahan has those ties to the family. Callahan is an OL coach there too and he has now said he prefers to stay as an OL coach.

Whatever it was, Jerry pays others big money and their is no salary cap and position coaches for such an important aspect is no joke. The Patriots have had the same OL coach got like 20 plus years and it's the most dominant aspect of their team in reality. Brady very rarely gets pressures, particularly from the interior.

We were pass blocking pretty bad in the red-zone as well.

And this 3 back system is going to create issues in establishing rhythm for this OL. They need to find a main back and stick with him, whoever it is and throw in a change of pace every now and then, not as a regular feature of their offense.

This offense just looks totally out of sync right now. Our running schemes were Callahan's...

Time to see what CMike can do and more of McFadden. I've seen enough and we need to lean on the running game bigtime!

Randle isn't awful, he is just not a lead back. He's a complimentary back only.

Murray had his worse games last year against Philadelphia. Randle actually had a couple nice runs that were all him.

Why do you have to take it so personally? Randle didn't have a good game. He is supposed to make defenders miss.

If his goal line carry impressed you then you are lying to yourself. He looked to put his shoulder down and got put on ice skates.

I'm not taking it personally at all. I just don't get why people think he had such an awful game.

And I never insinuated his goal line carry impressed. I'm just saying he couldn't do much because the blocking was off and he was hit in the backfield

Let's be a bit more patient. We struggled to run against Philly last year as well

Aven, my friend, fellow supporter of the sucksge of Garrett,

The answer is in your question. It's not Randle.. It's a bunch of other things.

A bruiser is not going to make a difference except we might be better in short yardage situations.

We need to create space or else the run game is going to suck.

100 yards rushing today is awesome but we can do better.

If you read my OP I never said Randle was bad. I said he was a complimentary back. There is nothing wrong with that. He wasn't awful yesterday, he's just not a lead dog IMO.

Hes our lead back this year, so we might as well get on board with it

"Thank you sir, may I have another" is not how I operate.

If it is broken I want to fix it, not grin and bear it.

I didn't want just OK out of our backfield. Our running game was record breaking last year and we went 12-4 with a mediocre Defense. I wanted the running game to be a strength again this year, paired with an improved Defense.

Murray averaged 3 ypc in two games vs Philly last year, for some perspective.

I would like to see what Michael can do sometime soon though.
