Last Barman Poet
I am the last barman poet.
I see America drinking the fabulous cocktails I make.
Americans getting stinky on something I stir or shake.
The sex on the beach, the schnapps made from peach,
The Velvet Hammer,
the Al-La-Bam-A Slam-a!

I make things with juice and froth: the Pink Squirrel, the 3-Toed Sloth. I make drinks so sweet and snazzy:
The Iced Tea, The Kamikaze, The Orgasm, The Death Spasm,
The Singapore Sling, The Dingaling. America you're devoted to every flavor I've got.
But if you want to get loaded,
why don't you just order a shot?
The Bar is open.

Well, if guns didn't exist, it would be damn hard to shoot someone! :laugh2:
Would it make you feel better if I stabbed you to death? :D

Good God man..give it up...it happens.

It has happened to me on a few occasions...I'm not proud of it but it most certainly did happen.

Blacking out while drunk and not remembering things is not the same as just going zombie mode and going around doing highly technical activities. There is a middle ground.

There have been tons of times I have done crazy stuff while drunk and I won't recall it at all until someone reminds me, then I have a vague recollection of what they're talking about. And that's not even blackout drunk, just pretty hammered.

That's not to say it's an excuse for behavior, i.e. "I was blacked out so I shouldn't be responsible for driving drunk or raping that chick."

But anybody who thinks you can't get blackout drunk and not remember what you did the night before just hasn't drank copious amounts of tequila.

Also, to be on topic, I have no problem with people who don't drink, but if I have friends who don't, they don't get invited to parties where everybody is getting hammered and acting stupid. It's just not fair to the drunk people to have a sober guy judging them. :laugh2:

This is like blaming guns for all the people who've been shot.

Wrong.

I love a good analogy, but this is not one.

Alcohol impairs people, alcohol alters people, alcohol changes people.

Guns do what people tell them to do, .. alcohol tells people what to do.

If you can't see the difference, take some advice and don't drink.

I know 2 brothers who never get invited to parties because they can't control themselves when drinking. They end up stumbling around knocking things over and become complete idiots that even others who drink do not want them around. :laugh2:

I have been drunk enough to know that it is not a myth.

This is actually what has swayed me to not to get drunk ever again.

I was drinking at a bar in Manhattan and drove myself (yes, I was stupid, I know, no lectures) home and don't remember the 30 minute drive at all. My poor judgment when I was drunk could have cost me or someone else their life. That was almost 20 years ago.

It was the next morning that I decided to never drink enough to get really drunk ever again, and I haven't, save once about 6 years ago.

Nope, you're wrong.

The decision to abuse takes place before the first drink.

If you think alcohol makes you a rapist, or a murderer, or any of the other things you implied in your earlier post, you're dead wrong.

If you can't see that, you need glasses.

Cheers! :beer2:

I have never had an alcoholic beverage force me to buy it just as I have never had a gun force me to buy it.

I have never had an alcoholic beverage force me grab it and drink it just as I have never had a gun forced me to grab and shoot it.

The specifics of the mentioned analogy may be flawed but the general nature of it works.

Alcohol doesn't force you to drink it and in doing so do stupid things, just like a gun doesn't force you to pull the trigger and kill someone.

2 of the nicest guys when sober but once they start drinking it becomes nonstop until they are passed out. I have known them since I was 10 years old which has been a very long time and still see them on occasions

I had a good friend in the Army. Guy was really a good guy...until he started drinking and then he turned into an arse. Well I should say not when he started drinking, I should say when he drank too much.

I won't say he was a violent drunk but he was enough of a pain that if he didn't get violent others around him would because of how he acted.

We put some ipecac in his beer one time to teach him a lesson. From that point on (or at least while I was stationed there) he did not get too drunk to reach his previous arse mode. :laugh1:

When I did drink, I never liked to be around people like that. Drunks who are silly, clumsy and so on can be annoying, but nothing like the idiots that turn into jerks IMO.

As bad as it was for the pole. I imagine it was still better than the one really really big lady that was up there one time and left a big greasy butt print on the mirrored walls of the stage. :laugh2:

Alcohol doesn't force you to drink it and in doing so do stupid things, just like a gun doesn't force you to pull the trigger and kill someone.

Alcohol makes normal people do things they would not normally do.
Alcohol makes people make bad decisions that they would not have made sober.
People do things when drunk that they would not dream of doing while sober.
Alcohol changes people in a short period of time, .. often before you realize it.
Then you do things that you would never do without alcohol.

Guns don't make people do anything that they had not already planned to do.

Apples and oranges.

There's no way in hell I'm putting a dollar bill in your g-string. I will settle for a lap dance, however.

I don't need a government or scientific study to tell me what I know from exp.

I have been drunk enough to know that it is not a myth. Have been around enough people that have been that drunk to that point to know it is not a myth.

First you want to say it is just an excuse from non drinkers...well that was debunked by people in this very thread talking about their own exp.

Now it seems you are wanting to say it is a myth by the people wanting to protect the drinkers or the drinkers protecting themselves?

Hmmm

I've blacked out and done numerous idiotic things in my day. Once at a party, I must have just had enough to start me into the "black out" portion, because I was arguing with someone who evidently said something I didn't like. I don't remember the convo, but I must have "snapped to" when my wife called me to the kitchen to ask what the hell I was doing. I had no memory of the stuff I'd just said minutes before and was embarrassed that I'd allowed myself to get in that state. I apologized to those involved and had my wife take me home.

BrainPaint lap dancing and big gals leaving butt prints on the mirror.
This is thread is definitely taking a turn for the better.
