Peyton takes 4 million pay cut. Romo should do same.

So take a well below market deal for his contract to begin with(8th highest paid qb), come off an mvp caliber season, now we just need you to take a slight 25% pay cut. Yeah I dont know how you think this would even resemble being something logical.

Sad part is, I think if they wanted him to he would.

No No it shouldnt. That's stupid

So you're not taking a pay cut with Tony now?
:lmao2:

I'm just playing around.
It's your thread, so you can have a the last word if you like.

btw, don't be surprised if at some point Romo actually does take an actual paycut vs a re-structure. I would think that it would be 2-3 years from now though....but you never know.

Ah have you looked at his back and dez not signed or murray and we we alot of help on defense. He can still make 13 to 14 million and help sign a player

I just think it's funny people are ok with romo making 17 million rather than 13 million and adding a player.

2 to 3 years won't help. He needs to do it this year to help this team get closer

Nobody, IMO, should expect Romo to take a pay cut. It was the organizations decision to pay Romo what we are paying him and that is his money. Now, I was not in favor of paying him that amount but it's done and gone. Now we have to live with those decisions. If he elects to take a pay cut, that's his choice but nobody should expect him or demand he does. That's not how it works.

Brandon Carr agrees with you.

It's not logical

Romo only makes 8m base salary next year, do you make TSmith give up some to pay for Romo

His contract was set up this way specifically to restructure this year

But restructure it will be stupid with romo back situation. 1 hit like the one vs Commanders again and he is done. If he retires then what. We restructure 13 million and the he is forced to retire all that comes off next year and we are screwed.

Well, we found another socialist mindset where for the good of the whole someone should make it a duty to reduce what was negotiated.
Sounds a lot like some in Washington, now doesn't it?

He probably would.

To all the people saying he should take a 4 million cut to help win, and hes already made enough etc. Why not just ask him to play for the vet minimum? I mean he's already made enough right? Be the ultimate team player?

We aren't getting stupid and political in this thread. So take that BS else where. Peyton just did it. Other players have done it before.

Agreed....................I find it laughable when people try to tell other people what they should and should not do with their money.

Frankly its nobody's dam business what Romo does with his money...............I wonder how many of the folks calling for Romo to take a 20% paycut, donated 20% of their income last year to charity?

My guess is none.

If he retires we take the hit and move on. It only takes a season to absorb the big hit and that will probably be a transitional year without Romo. You could choose to make it a June 1st cut and split the hit. Plus his salary will be subtracted making it a net gain.

This talk of him potentially getting hurt and leaving Dallas stuck is silly too.

What if he takes a 4 mil pay cut, we sign a player, and the first day of practice, we lose that player to injury for the year?
Everybody loses....

Theoretical stuff can just go on and on.....

Peyton already proved a old QB on the FA market even with injury concerns will get paid. If he hit the market right now he would get a salary increase, yet you want him to take a cut to be paid even less?

Thick skulls leave no room for brains.

If I got paid 20 million a year at my job, was worth 50 million and knew that taking a 20% pay could would catapult my company to new heights; yeah, Id take the cut.

What?

Only if you were going to financially share in that company success. Feel free to ask Jerry how he feels about that.

The professional sports model was never and will never be a financial shared success formula. The ring is the shared success.

Taking a 20 percent cut to "hopefully" say we were company of the year?

I don't think so.
