Peyton takes 4 million pay cut. Romo should do same.

Agreed....................I find it laughable when people try to tell other people what they should and should not do with their money.

Frankly its nobody's dam business what Romo does with his money...............I wonder how many of the folks calling for Romo to take a 20% paycut, donated 20% of their income last year to charity?

My guess is none.

Tony's deal is not a straight year to year deal.

His base salaries the next 5 year- 17m, 8.5m, 14m, 19.5m, 20.5m

This year was intentionally set high because it is to be restructured and prorated over the full 5 years. The last 2 years are just for show and prorations.

What?

Only if you were going to financially share in that company success. Feel free to ask Jerry how he feels about that.

The professional sports model was never and will never be a shared success formula. The ring is the shared success.

Taking a 20 percent cut to "hopefully" say we were company of the year?

I don't think so.

Someone gets it.

They aren't touching Romo ' salary because it hurts them for the future. If it meant keeping Dez and Murray I'm sure Romo would do it if asked. If they do anything as far as restructures it will be someone like Smith

This is only true if the team does NOT have a lot of Cap room in the future. If Romo restructures once again to sign Dez and Demarco, they will be the only big $$$ guys in the very near future. It won't be for another 3-4 years that any of the current guys will be getting big $$$ (Crawford would have to basically turn into a Sub clone this year to get massive $$$ in 2016). The Cowboys Cap situation actually looks pretty good for the foreseeable future. And, Romo can be cut in 2017 for a Cap savings of over $5M even with another restructure this year.

Peyton already proved a old QB on the FA market even with injury concerns will get paid. If he hit the market right now he would get a salary increase, yet you want him to take a cut to be paid even less?

He's guaranteed money and bonus was already paid. He was rewarded highly. Taking 4 million cut puts him at 13 million salary. Peyton this year is 15. He will still be right there with a top QB.

anytime a romo paycut gets brought up on here people get real sensitive but these same people have no issues telling dez and demarco to take pennies on the dollar or scram.

I think it's funny you expect people to be upset that he won't when no other player in the entire NFL is doing that other than a guy desperate for one more season before his arm falls off.

I think it's funny people think we should add players and resign players to help romo win a superbowl but then not expect romo to take a little paycut to help

If you think he is paid too much, then your beef is with the organization that gave him the contract, not the player.

If a team is stupid enough to pay a player $17 million if he is only worth $13 million, that is on them..............not the player.

He's also older, fell apart at the end of the season and potentially did this so he could stick around for another season. Lets not forget this is the last season of his deal. Do you want Romo to just take the cut thus season? Should he take a 4m annual cut? What happens next season when theres another "need" that could be filled with anotger 4m cut?

I love that threads like this pop up all the time. It doesnt need to be done yet. The contract was set up to do exactly that. Enhance your calm.

Your a know Romo hater so im sure any cut you could give him satisfies you.

Carr and Free are complete different situations. They were either going to be cut or can redo the deal to pay them what the market would pay. Those were the 2 options those players had/have. Its not even close so trying to compare them with a player playing great and would get a bigger check in the FA market is silly

A QBs arm falling of is not as big a deal as it used to be. With today's sports medicine, it's not really that big a deal anymore. It's like knee injuries back in the day. Used to be that was the end. Now, players come back from the all the time.

Here is a future generated image of what Payton might look like after such a procedure.

I would like for Romo's cap charge to be lower, but Dallas has put themselves in this spot with restructuring Romo's deal. Giving him roster bonuses if he is on the team after a certain day of the league yr. This yr for example. Romo was Guaranteed 7.5 mil in his basethis yr if he was on the team the 3rd day of the league yr last yr, and will be Guaranteed another 7.5mil in his base if he is on the team the 3rd day of the leage yr this yr.

So 15mil was guaranteed out of his 17mil base salary
He has 5mil as part of his prorated SB
He has a 1.635mil option bonus
And 4.138mil is part of the restructures he's already given.

Peyton is taking a 4 million pay cut to help the Broncos free up cap space. Time for Romo to do the same. Romo salary will be 17 million this year. If Peyton can take a 4 million pay cut from his salary Romo can do the same. No its not a restructure that pushes money down the road, it's a straight pay cut. Come on Romo free up some cap space to help resign Dez, Murray and others.

Did cowboyjoe make an alternate account?

The price you pay for a franchise QB, complain about the contract number, or complain about not having a QB. Cowboy fans are never happy.

I wouldn't say all Cowboys fans aren't happy. Just the ones who didn't get to see the Superbowls in the 70's and 90's. I think the over 35 crowd is content.

You have to pay big bucks for franchise QBs
