The only reason they would cut or trade Mallett is because he can't handle being a back up...so why would he be happy to be here and back Romo up for the next few years.

Well, possibly on principle if he feels O'Brien lied or misled him which many are suggesting. He was late for practice today and sent home, he's not happy. It's closer to home for him, Tony may have what 2-3 more seasons to getr' done? Who knows, from a selfish stand point I like it.

There are multiple teams who would pick up Mallet to start for them right now. No way does he go anywhere to be a backup at this stage in his career.

Going to Dallas means he won't start until he is almost 30

Tanney time!

Honestly though, I wish we would've never gotten rid of him. If we would've kept him on our squad I reckon he'd be a better backup than both Vaughn and Weeden are right now. Plus I think he has more raw talent than both.

Just my opinion.

yeah I saw him in the last tenn game, he played 4th qrt, with scrubs, and did ok , mostly short range passes and runs, but with about 2*-3 min
left he stood in the pocket , seeing a blitzer coming free to hit him and he delivered the pass on target down field and it went for long td.
He got hit hard by the guy coming on blitz, but was very happy about the TD.
Dallas put him on PS and another team grabbed him, I know he went to KC? cleveland , tampa bay, and now Tenn.

I liked him but I doubt dallas will cut the 2 they have , which they should and grab one of the young ones that dont make the 53 on other teams.

EJ and our coaching is better than EJ and the coaching he was getting before this season...
better than Weeden existing in the NFL...

But I don't think EJ gets cut.

Someone mentioned Austin Davis... still hoping... I would take Charlie W as well.

Our local sports radio was talking to a Buffalo sportswriter about their QB situation...they have Matt Cassel, Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel all competing for the starting spot. He suggested that Manuel is the third guy and if so could be cut (I know, he is starting their 3rd game, but the reporter basically said it was Ryan giving him the chance to cut his throat).

If Manuel were cut, would you consider him an upgrade to Weeden at QB?

No... and I'm a huge FSU fan.

Well 1 if he can't beat out Hoyer for the starting job in Houston I doubt many teams would take him to be their starter. 2 if you trade for him he has no say. I seriously doubt he has a no trade clause in his contract.

I doubt Houston gets rid of him but there is a definite issue with him and the coach right now so if I was Jerry I would pick up the phone and see.

I Disagree... but that doesn't matter......... Go Noles!!!

He has the same problem now as he had in college... decision making. He had a great team around him to help him succeed but the NFL is bigger stronger faster and the ability to process information is probably THE biggest trait needed... and he doesn't have it. Rooting for him.. just not here. :D

All we had to do was draft Bryce Petty - but I digress.......

I would have been stoked to have him over Chaz Green

I agree. He got drafted in the first round because he looked the part..but I'd rather have you as qb than weeden...so yeh, i'd take him..;)

No. Weeden is our backup and isn't as bad as everyone thinks. Plus he's been in the system for a few years now and anyone new brought in is going to be way behind. He's the best option the Cowboys have this year.

Agreed. But my point remains...if Romo is done for the season, I'd rather see the Cowboys groom someone rather than try to remain competitive with Weeden. Just my take..

Sorry but that's a bad take. You don't throw in the towel after losing one player even if it is your QB. What kind of message would that send to the team? What the team will do is rally behind Weeden and play even better to overcome the drop off in the QB play at least until you're mathematically eliminated. Then you might give the young guys some exposure.

Most definitely. EJ Manuel is raw and is a project but he was a 1st round talent. Some felt he was taken too early. Either way, even in his worst games he's shown more than Vaughn. Vaughn is simply here because he's young and he's shown flashes at practice. That gets you on the PS.

He was never a 1st rnd talent

I don't think Manuel would be horrible. I would be willing to lose the stud that is Dustin Vaughan to get him.

He has some talent, was rushed in before he was ready and could use a year or two on learning behind a good vet. I do like Austin Davis as well as someone to kick the tires on. Right now, I think Showers is more ready than Vaughan and would keep him instead.
i would just keeps showers
He is at least equal to Vaughn in his first camp

Yea, I'd take him, at least to develop as a #3, but I don't think he'd make it to us on waivers.

If he is waived I'm betting he doesn't get claimed
Would you want to pay him 3 million dollars for the next two years while he developed into what ever he can be, then have him become a free agent

the $1.2 mil and $1.6 mil he is owed is not that much at the end of the day. Off the top of my head, Philly, Chicago, Arizona and Kansas City all seem like good options to claim him and I think only Arizona is a bit stretched right now.

do you really live in the real world? rally around Weedon? It happened in 2010 because we had Kitna. Weeden is not even in the same galaxy and everyone knows it.
