do you really live in the real world? rally around Weedon? It happened in 2010 because we had Kitna. Weeden is not even in the same galaxy and everyone knows it.

So what did Arizona have to rally around last year??????

I would say it was worse than Weeden and they pushed on and did well.

I said it when he was in college, I said it during the draft and I will say it yet again.

He looks the like that gets the coaches and scouts excited, he flashes once in a great while to make them think he can turn the corner but in the end with him you will only be disappointing as he never seems to actually turn the corner or get it. He is a good kid and works hard from all reports but he just does not have it...he only has enough to make it look like he MIGHT have it.

No...No...NO NO.

Just in case some might be confused...I say... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Sorry but that's a bad take. You don't throw in the towel after losing one player even if it is your QB. What kind of message would that send to the team? What the team will do is rally behind Weeden and play even better to overcome the drop off in the QB play at least until you're mathematically eliminated. Then you might give the young guys some exposure.

Do you honestly think Weeden gives the Cowboys a significantly better chance of winning over Vaughan?

You understand we are discussing him as a backup and not a starter right? A lot of quality backup QBs in this league are that because of what you're mentioning. They have great games, they manage games well, but are not consistent.

dont think you can get much cheaper than what weeden signed for...$660,000...

That's in part why he's here. He was a 1st round quarterback who didn't have much wear on his body and there were hopes he'd still fulfill his potential despite being 30. And for all of that....you couldn't beat the price tag if he worked out. Thus far......he hasn't looked nearly as good as some hoped.

Yes...I would rather have time and effort on a young player who can be groomed to eventually take over for Romo.

Right now none of the other QBs on our roster, nor EJ if we grabbed him, would be a player 90% of the people are going to be comfortable with in a starting role if Tony goes down...we get that.

What most would want is a young QB to be groomed to eventually take over...kind of like Romo was here for a few years.

Garrett and his staff think that.

Garrett and his staff may Parrott that, but it's another thing to say they actually think that. I'm sorry. Weeden is terrible. Granted, he may have a little more than Vaughan, but in terms of overall upside, Vaughan wins by a landslide, in my opinion.

Our local sports radio was talking to a Buffalo sportswriter about their QB situation...they have Matt Cassel, Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel all competing for the starting spot. He suggested that Manuel is the third guy and if so could be cut (I know, he is starting their 3rd game, but the reporter basically said it was Ryan giving him the chance to cut his throat).

If Manuel were cut, would you consider him an upgrade to Weeden at QB?

If he's cut, yes. I have no problem bringing in a backup with some experience to replace Weeden, but I'm not part of the trade-for-a-backup-QB crowd. We're likely sunk without Romo no matter who we get, so I don't want to invest picks or players into picking up any of the ones being mentioned.

i wouldn't want either one to play quarterback for us. but if they can pick up the blitz, they can be our 3rd down running back.

Got this back up QB under control., as I speak Gimme and Corso are on their way to Dallas to fight it out for backup QB. All is well in the land of Dallas.
My money's on @Corso over @GimmeTheBall to win the backup role for three reasons. First, Johnny Depp is better looking than Edward R. Murrow. Sorry Gimme. You may as well look good sitting on the bench. Second, Depp's still alive. Murrow's dead. Gimme does have more mobility than Weeden but not by much. And third, Corso can switch to Captain Jack Sparrow if necessary. Handsome. Quicker feet. And comedically charming. How can you beat that combination?

We didn't really get rid of Tanney. He was on the practice squad and got poached away. Incidents like that are why I favor a fundamental change in how practice squads work. I would make the practice squad simply a set of league-minimum players who are actually part of the team and can suit up for any game. You probably wouldn't even call it the practice squad anymore. There would just be more roster spots. But the league doesn't consult me on how it handles this stuff. How dare they not?

I see where you're going, but I think it's nice for guys who show game day ability, but are buried on a depth chart due to numbers. It's one instance where the league actually considers the player before the owners.
