There was the infamous water bottle incident which was a drug related arrest and he has a documented positive result. Youre a lawyer, how hard do you think it would be to plead that to the board or whatever oversees this type of thing?

lol, no, no charges and there was no drug residue inside the bottle

thats all well in good but he was still arrested for suspision of possession of controlled substance.

the bottom line that some people apparently are conveniently ignoring is that he has a FAILED DRUG TEST FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.

detained is not being arrested

Hey guys I found out a little something from one of my fraternity brothers....what are your thoughts to this:

Vick could get out in less than a year because of a loophole in the system. Mike Vick is planning on entering the prison's Residential Drug Abuse Treatment Program (RDAP) - an intensive substance abuse treatment program which qualifies eligible graduates for a one year sentence reduction. It's been said that Vick has already requested to be admitted to the program.

So therefore, the story gets even better for Vick because he entered prison before his sentencing date, his release date will likely be pushed up even further. Not to mention that with credit for good behavior and the RDAP sentence reduction, Vick may even be out by the beginning of next year's NFL season.

This all makes sense especially the early entry part and the positive test on the marijuana (when he knew he would be tested)........I mentioned this in the NFL Zone, but I figured it would be a hot topic in the Fan Zone....Sorry Mods;)

oh well, if the turd walks in a yr so be it

but the NFL isnt going to let him back in that soon...he's gone for quite some time...I know it hurts some people's feelings (and have no idea why, he is trash) but its the truth

PETA is a powerless self promoting lunatic group period end of story. In fact on a whole PETA and the clowns that run it are no better than Vick. Vick will do his time like anyone else that has to serve jail time.

Vick has been punished look the guy lost millions and is serving time. Done end of story.

Really.....

I am not a member of PETA or any other group, however I find this statement to be "****** dumb".

VICK KILLED DOGS BY ELECTROCUTION, HANGING, AND BLUNT TRAUMA (CRUSHING THEIR SKULLS BY POUNDING THEM INTO THE GROUND).

I highly doubt any member of PETA has participated in activities such as these, so to say that the members of PETA are the same as Vick is just being ****** dumb.

typical nonsense. if see something as wrong i speak out about it. if you dont like then deal with it.

quite frankly i think the erosion of civil liberties that weve been seeing over the last decade have been quite alarming.

erosion of civil liberties, or just coming to the realization that some things are just wrong?

such as holding slaves, 200 years ago many people were *****ing about the same thing you are

btw, it's funny how you continue to gloss over the fact that dog-fighting is a criminal enterprise, not just a blood-sport

He has been suspend since his trial and chargers where brought against him.

IF he serves his time and gets out on good behavior etc I bet Roger lets him back in. No way the commish adds on much more to the current suspension and time served in the jail.

No team is going to touch Vick with a 10 foot pole, he is OJ now.

Like Jerry Jones said, the PR would be a freaking nightmare for the team that signs him.

Nothing gets people's blood boiling more than abuse of childeren or abuse of animals.

Last time i checked PETA didnt run the US Justice system. If there is a law in the books that says admission ot that program equates to a reduction in sentence then it means he gets it.

I hope he does cause its entertaining to watch all the disingenuous indignation.

Exactly what's "disingenuous" about our indignation, Vick apologist??

the sentences run concurrently.

Perhaps, but the penalty from the state might well be somewhat longer...

I mean, I know how DESPERATELY you want Vick to not be punished at all...

He is not going to get any time off. That program is for habitual drug users with a history of doing drugs and getting caught. Vick does not in any way shape or form fit that description. Not to mention I do believe that JUDGE has final say and no way is he going to let vick get any slack.
Fuzzy, you lose here.

he hasnt been caught much, but it is common knowledge that Vick and his gang of losers are huge pot heads

that said

the bottomline though is the guy is a degenerate...the only people you see in society that take place in dogfighting are the really ignorant, inbred rednecks and the "thugz"...then you factor in he wasnt just there, betting money or fronting money, he was actively taking part in killing dogs...and he wasnt "putting them down" so they wouldnt suffer...he was killing them in a degenerate way...torturing them by electrocution, drowning, hanging etc etc

I cant for the life of me understand how anyone in this forum can go on defending this human piece of trash...him and his thug buddies are the lowest form of human life,a nd honestly I think people that support him are right there with him...

has anyone been more misinformed in an argument as Fuzzy is being now?

lol at him trying to convince everyone that Vick was arrested for pot

btw, it's also quite funny that the 2 examples that people were arguing so vehemently against Goodell for suspending players before trial, were convicted for being POSs anyways

Its more like never underestimate people's attempts to will something to be true.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up your neverending defense of a first class piece of GARBAGE...

This is very cut and dry. The system exists and if he gets into it then he gets a reduction in his sentence. This is despite whether you, PETA or anyone else doesnt like it.

ROTFLMAO... until today, you didn't even know about this program, now you're dead morally certain you know how it works... like you said, we should never underestimate your attempt to will Vick into getting out in a week...

Now Im usre that there is some sort of committee that reviews these sorts of things but I am also sure that they are given guidelines by which to determine admittance. If Vick meets those guidelines then he gets in. Simple.

Again, ROTFLMAO... you don't know the first thing about this program, but here you are, talking like you're an expert on the subject...

um, this is federal, not state, Pointdexter has nothing to do w/ this
When we're talking about sentences running concurrently, we're talking about a potential sentence from Virginia. Poindexter has a lot to do with this.

pep is correct. its completely up to the judge/jury. given his legal firepower and the fact that Poindexter and his constituents have been reluctant prosecutors it wold seem that he would get concurrent sentences.

oh and here is some more info.

Note the use of the phrase MAY BE reduced... as in, it's not MANDATORY... IOW, there is some DISCRETION afforded to the penal system...

And of course, this presumes that Vick will actually PASS the program... they also used the word "graduate"... given that he couldn't even keep from blazing up when he was awaiting sentencing, do you really think he'll stay straight for a year in jail??

That has not been determined yet. The state case is still a work in progress, so they have not reached a conclusion as to how long his sentence is going to be much less if they will allow it to be served concurrently with Vick's federal punishment.

PETA will not be able to stop Vick's sentence from being reduced IF he ends up qualifying and following all the necessary requirements. I am sure there will be an outcry and PETA will scream and shout, but they have no real power in the matter.

Inasmuch as any sentence reduction is not mandatory, but rather discretionary, a PETA protest might have some impact on the decision... it might cause no reduction at all, or a less reduction (remember, it said UP TO a year)...

Now, you're sitting on the committee that decides whether to release Vick early, and if so, how early... and you've got a bunch of PETA protestors kicking up a stink, guaranteeing intense public scrutiny of your decision... your NAME might well be known to them...

How you gonna decide in that situation??

thats becasue fire is a hazard to the entire community and threatens OTHER'S person and property.

Dog fighting is only bad for the dog.

But actually i think you can burn your house down under certain circumstances. I know controlled burning is not illeagl in Texas.
And your dog IS property.
