There was the infamous water bottle incident which was a drug related arrest and he has a documented positive result. Youre a lawyer, how hard do you think it would be to plead that to the board or whatever oversees this type of thing?

the bottom line that some people apparently are conveniently ignoring is that he has a FAILED DRUG TEST FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.

Vick could get out in less than a year because of a loophole in the system. Mike Vick is planning on entering the prison's Residential Drug Abuse Treatment Program (RDAP) - an intensive substance abuse treatment program which qualifies eligible graduates for a one year sentence reduction. It's been said that Vick has already requested to be admitted to the program.

So therefore, the story gets even better for Vick because he entered prison before his sentencing date, his release date will likely be pushed up even further. Not to mention that with credit for good behavior and the RDAP sentence reduction, Vick may even be out by the beginning of next year's NFL season.

This all makes sense especially the early entry part and the positive test on the marijuana (when he knew he would be tested)........I mentioned this in the NFL Zone, but I figured it would be a hot topic in the Fan Zone....Sorry Mods

but the NFL isnt going to let him back in that soon...he's gone for quite some time...I know it hurts some people's feelings (and have no idea why, he is trash) but its the truth

VICK KILLED DOGS BY ELECTROCUTION, HANGING, AND BLUNT TRAUMA (CRUSHING THEIR SKULLS BY POUNDING THEM INTO THE GROUND).

I highly doubt any member of PETA has participated in activities such as these, so to say that the members of PETA are the same as Vick is just being ****** dumb.

He has been suspend since his trial and chargers where brought against him.

IF he serves his time and gets out on good behavior etc I bet Roger lets him back in. No way the commish adds on much more to the current suspension and time served in the jail.

Like Jerry Jones said, the PR would be a freaking nightmare for the team that signs him.

Last time i checked PETA didnt run the US Justice system. If there is a law in the books that says admission ot that program equates to a reduction in sentence then it means he gets it.

He is not going to get any time off. That program is for habitual drug users with a history of doing drugs and getting caught. Vick does not in any way shape or form fit that description. Not to mention I do believe that JUDGE has final say and no way is he going to let vick get any slack.

This is very cut and dry. The system exists and if he gets into it then he gets a reduction in his sentence. This is despite whether you, PETA or anyone else doesnt like it.

Now Im usre that there is some sort of committee that reviews these sorts of things but I am also sure that they are given guidelines by which to determine admittance. If Vick meets those guidelines then he gets in. Simple.

When we're talking about sentences running concurrently, we're talking about a potential sentence from Virginia. Poindexter has a lot to do with this.

pep is correct. its completely up to the judge/jury. given his legal firepower and the fact that Poindexter and his constituents have been reluctant prosecutors it wold seem that he would get concurrent sentences.

oh and here is some more info.

Note the use of the phrase MAY BE reduced... as in, it's not MANDATORY... IOW, there is some DISCRETION afforded to the penal system...

And of course, this presumes that Vick will actually PASS the program... they also used the word "graduate"... given that he couldn't even keep from blazing up when he was awaiting sentencing, do you really think he'll stay straight for a year in jail??

That has not been determined yet. The state case is still a work in progress, so they have not reached a conclusion as to how long his sentence is going to be much less if they will allow it to be served concurrently with Vick's federal punishment.

PETA will not be able to stop Vick's sentence from being reduced IF he ends up qualifying and following all the necessary requirements. I am sure there will be an outcry and PETA will scream and shout, but they have no real power in the matter.

Inasmuch as any sentence reduction is not mandatory, but rather discretionary, a PETA protest might have some impact on the decision... it might cause no reduction at all, or a less reduction (remember, it said UP TO a year)...

Now, you're sitting on the committee that decides whether to release Vick early, and if so, how early... and you've got a bunch of PETA protestors kicking up a stink, guaranteeing intense public scrutiny of your decision... your NAME might well be known to them...

How you gonna decide in that situation??
