Just thinking about him at Alabama where everything just screamed can't miss makes him very intriguing

The Garrett connection to Saban and the fact that Gary Brown was his RB Coach as a rookie in Cleveland makes me wonder if they're not at least talking about him. He's only 25 too.

And the fact that he's been a fish out of water zone running back who has been employed by three teams now that tried to fit him into a power blocking rushing attack.

Given that we're running zone like he did at Alabama makes me curious. Can you imagine if we could somehow hit on this guy's one-time potential? At absolutely no cost?

I'm an admitted reclamation junkie, but I see huge reward potential with little risk involved at all. Other than roster space #53, what does this team have to lose?

There is definately a Ro McClain kind of feel about Richardson with me in that he has potential with the right situation and the risk/reward is so one-sided. I'm leaning towards bringing him in and do agree with you we have to at least be talking to him.

I thought of McClain too.

And let's face it, when that deal went down, everyone (myself included), thought it was a complete waste of time and resources. In retrospect, that reclamation project worked out well.

Any investment in Richardson at this point is zero, with the possibility - however slim - of hitting a grand slam home run.

What I just can't get over is that three teams acquired him and none seemed to realize that they were getting a zone running back, instead scratching their collective heads when he inexplicably didn't fit their power running scheme?

If we're running zone, take a free look at the highest regarded zone running back and highest heralded running back overall, to enter the league since Adrian Peterson.

He never did run behind a line like Dallas !

And incredibly, a college zone running back has never run in an NFL zone scheme.

I don't hate the round peg for not fitting in the square hole.

No, you have to think outside the box !!!! I think you and I both think outside the box.

Let the updates begin!

Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls rushed 11 times for 87 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason finale.

Rawls' touchdown was a six-yard score on a fourth-quarter read option. The undrafted rookie out of Central Michigan finishes the preseason with 30 carries for 158 yards (5.26 YPC) and a touchdown. He added four catches for an additional 42 yards. Although there was some early-summer noise that Rawls could push Christine Michael for No. 3 duties, it never happened. His most likely home is the practice squad, though Robert Turbin's (high-ankle sprain) health could create an early-season opening.

Rawls is not getting released imo.

49ers RB/PR Jarryd Hayne rushed 10 times for 58 yards in Thursday's preseason finale, adding two catches for an additional 17 yards.

The ex-rugby player made one of the plays of the game when he used the big-hit stick on Bolts DB Lowell Rose at the end of a 12-yard reception. Hayne was signed to primarily contribute on special teams, but he wraps up the preseason with 25 carries for 175 yards (7.00 YPC). Adept at making the first defender miss, Hayne's 53-man roster odds are looking mighty good.

He is safe.

Christine Michael rushed eight times for 39 yards in Thursday's preseason finale.

With Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin (ankle) sitting, Michael got the start, taking a handoff from Russell Wilson on the first play of the game. He ran well ahead of UDFA Thomas Rawls, and is clearly locked in as Seattle's No. 3 runner. The talented but inconsistent third-year back closes the book on the exhibition season with 32 carries for 118 yards (3.68 YPC). With Turbin highly questionable for the opener, Michael could get a golden opportunity to make an impression as Lynch's backup.

With Turbin's ankle issue I think he is safe as well and remains a Hawk.

Mike Davis racked up 33 yards on seven carries in Thursday's preseason finale against the Chargers.

Davis made an incredible catch in traffic during the first quarter but the play was called back. He'll finish the preseason with 113 rushing yards on 26 carries. The rookie is competing with former rugby star Jarryd Hayne for fourth on the running back depth chart.

This one is interesting with Hayne excelling in both the running and return game my personal feeling here is the 9ers release Davis or Hunter..
