PS4 vs Xbox One

yeah the fact that no Vita support was mentioned in that league pretty much tells me that it is a fake.

I also like the idea of the rejuvinating the Syphon Filter series. God of War and Uncharted make 2015 look very appealing for the PS4. Wipeout was sweet on Vita and would love to see it on the next gen. "Project Beast – spiritual successor to Demon Souls" should be a great title exclusive as well as a hack n slash rpg. Hey, maybe even EA throws some talent @ the development of Madden 15 so football gamers can finally have a game that allows them enjoy the NFL again. NBA2K15 will be on point (as always). The fall/winter 2014 season looks great too (Batman, AC5, The Order: 1886, MGS, Dragon Age, Driveclub, Infamous DLC, The Evil Within, Destiny, COD: Advanced Warfare).

Just a heads up, "Bound by Flame" has gotten terrible reviews so far.

GameSpot - 4/10
Videogamer - 2/10
The Escapist - 2.5/5
Polygon - 4/10

Liked the look of the gameplay, but would try it bf buying.

I don't know who all on here was interested in but I heard that the Elder Scrolls game has been pushed back 6 months now. So anyone who was looking to play that is going to be waiting a lot longer at this point.

Kinect-less X1 for $399 in June. Wow...Microsoft has reversed on practically EVERYTHING they had for their initial vision of the console because of consumer backlash and getting hammered in sales.

"First, beginning on June 9th, in all markets where Xbox One is sold, we will offer Xbox One starting at $399*. This is a new console option that does not include Kinect. For $399, our new Xbox One offering will continue to deliver access to the best blockbuster games like “Titanfall,” “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” “Forza Motorsport 5,” “Dead Rising 3,” and the upcoming “Watch Dogs,” “Destiny” and "Sunset Overdrive."

Yeah, I don't think it's a coincidence that the guy who was leading the charge for Xbox One took another position with Zynga last summer.

I've read he's the one who sold the company on the Kinect. Also, he's the guy that responded to customer concerns horribly prior to launch.

I think the Xbox would look a lot different if he weren't involved. Dude was just too old and disconnected from his consumer-base. He just didn't look like someone you would believe was playing video games. They anointed someone else the new head honcho of Xbox not too long ago and he basically said the first thing he wanted to do was offer a Kinect-less system. Also seems as if MS has learned what Sony did last round, the $399 price point should not be broken.

I don't have one, no immediate plans to buy one but it is nice to see a company listen to the customer base.

They also made it to where Xbox Live Gold is no longer required for the popular apps like Netflix, Hulu, HBOGo etc..

While I couldn't ever see myself playing the Kinect centric games, the voice controls are great for navigating the system and the camera adds extra options for laziness.

Meh, the voice controls weren't as well tuned as they need to be. Not to mention the first time I played on my brothers Xbox I'm sitting there yelling at the machine to start recording something and I guess the Kinect was set to "mic" mode or whatever and everyone in the lobby could hear me. Felt like I had just aged 50 years and I was some old gramps trying to figure out this new fangled technology.

The camera, I really think it's worthless. About the most accurate thing I have seen it do is recognize people as they enter the room. I guess you can use it to skype but just about any computer comes with a camera so it's not like the camera is offering something people wouldn't get otherwise.

They should continue developing the voice aspect but I really don't see any practical use for motion control. Build the microphone into the console because voice commands could actually be tuned up to work efficiently at some point down the road. Or have voice commands be triggered by the headset.

In any event the biggest problem isn't with the thing itself, it's forcing proprietary accessories onto people. Hopefully they've learned their lesson.

It's about time Microsoft gave up on their stupid connect and gold requirements. Maybe I would have actually considered buying an XBox rather than just going PS4 by default. PS4 still has the hardware advantage, but at least they got rid of the junk.

I think the issue with Kinect is that it won't work well if the audio is coming from the tv speakers. It works well if it is quiet but I don't think anyone should have to lower their tv volume or put on their headphones for audio just so they can speak into a mic.

When it comes to recording, the user(s) has the option to turn it off. I have mine turned off because sometimes Kinect will record top plays on Madden, NBA 2k14, BF4 and other games when I didn't request Xbox to record it. That might be the reason Xbox didn't record what you wanted but I don't know.

You mean Elder Scrolls Online console release?

I'm selfishly glad about this. Getting as much enjoyment out of the game as I can before the Console kids come!

It's decent as an online version of Skyrim. The PVP and end game content is.. lacking.
Leveling up to max level is pretty enjoyable.. I don't see much to keep you playing though.

Yeah the console release is what I was refering to. They've reportedly pushed it back 6 months. I heard at E3 they'll be showing off Fall out 4 and Left for Dead 3 which are two games I'd definately look forward to.

Meh, I'm not too excited about Elder Scrolls Online. I wish they just made another single player game.

First screenshot of Planetside 2 on PS4.

Planet Side looks sharp btw. I felt the same way about Elder Scrolls, was taken in by all the atmosphere, graphics and combat, and then saw that it was an MMO. That stuff is too intimidating to me and would much prefer a single player mode like you referenced

You can level to max level without every teaming up with anyone, and the quest system is more or less just like Skyrim.

I still would never play an MMO on a console though.

Thanks for that info bro. Might pick it up if for that fact: that you can still take it on through single player; making it your own experience without the need to team up, etc. PC gaming is simply too overwhelming from my limited console player perspective. I'm no dullard in terms of console gaming, but PC gaming seems like a different world. I even hooked up my XBOX controller to my laptop to play DC Universe but never even booted it up (the game).

Every now and then I look into some of the PC games/gaming for a change up from the console norm but always find myself giving up before ever really getting started. It becomes somewhat overwhelming with the infinite options and the vast depth that make up some of these games in the PC gaming world. I do notice that in just about every youtube walk through of AAA games, that they are predominately played with a PC, so there are plenty of folks that understand the graphical/Frame rate advantages displayed bw PC/Console games. You have any recommendations of good PC games a console exclusive guy could get into?

Interesting couple of moves made by Xbox. Still I would give PS4 the edge but the gap between the two consoles closed significantly IMO.

Still can't wait to see what Black Friday deals these consoles will offer.

You think they will drop that much? I'm getting a PS4 in late August but was more due to the lack of games out like we've been discussing. I definitely see a lot of great game deals coming on BF like every year, but you thinking like $300 range for both systems?

I was thinking either it drops down to $350 or it will stay at the $400 level and come with maybe 2 games and a PlayStation plus membership. I'd be so pumped if it went down to $300 lol
