Kinect-less X1 for $399 in June. Wow...Microsoft has reversed on practically EVERYTHING they had for their initial vision of the console because of consumer backlash and getting hammered in sales.

"First, beginning on June 9th, in all markets where Xbox One is sold, we will offer Xbox One starting at $399*. This is a new console option that does not include Kinect. For $399, our new Xbox One offering will continue to deliver access to the best blockbuster games like “Titanfall,” “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” “Forza Motorsport 5,” “Dead Rising 3,” and the upcoming “Watch Dogs,” “Destiny” and "Sunset Overdrive."
They also made it to where Xbox Live Gold is no longer required for the popular apps like Netflix, Hulu, HBOGo etc..
While I couldn't ever see myself playing the Kinect centric games, the voice controls are great for navigating the system and the camera adds extra options for laziness.
Meh, the voice controls weren't as well tuned as they need to be. Not to mention the first time I played on my brothers Xbox I'm sitting there yelling at the machine to start recording something and I guess the Kinect was set to "mic" mode or whatever and everyone in the lobby could hear me. Felt like I had just aged 50 years and I was some old gramps trying to figure out this new fangled technology.
The camera, I really think it's worthless. About the most accurate thing I have seen it do is recognize people as they enter the room. I guess you can use it to skype but just about any computer comes with a camera so it's not like the camera is offering something people wouldn't get otherwise.
They should continue developing the voice aspect but I really don't see any practical use for motion control. Build the microphone into the console because voice commands could actually be tuned up to work efficiently at some point down the road. Or have voice commands be triggered by the headset.
In any event the biggest problem isn't with the thing itself, it's forcing proprietary accessories onto people. Hopefully they've learned their lesson.
I don't know who all on here was interested in but I heard that the Elder Scrolls game has been pushed back 6 months now. So anyone who was looking to play that is going to be waiting a lot longer at this point.
You mean Elder Scrolls Online console release?
I'm selfishly glad about this. Getting as much enjoyment out of the game as I can before the Console kids come!
It's decent as an online version of Skyrim. The PVP and end game content is.. lacking.
Leveling up to max level is pretty enjoyable.. I don't see much to keep you playing though.
Meh, I'm not too excited about Elder Scrolls Online. I wish they just made another single player game.]
.
Planet Side looks sharp btw. I felt the same way about Elder Scrolls, was taken in by all the atmosphere, graphics and combat, and then saw that it was an MMO. That stuff is too intimidating to me and would much prefer a single player mode like you referenced
You can level to max level without every teaming up with anyone, and the quest system is more or less just like Skyrim.
I still would never play an MMO on a console though.
Interesting couple of moves made by Xbox. Still I would give PS4 the edge but the gap between the two consoles closed significantly IMO.
Still can't wait to see what Black Friday deals these consoles will offer.
You think they will drop that much? I'm getting a PS4 in late August but was more due to the lack of games out like we've been discussing. I definitely see a lot of great game deals coming on BF like every year, but you thinking like $300 range for both systems?
