QB coach Kellen Moore candidate to replace Linehan

He’s not qualified...not saying he can’t do the job but how can any coach from this offense be considered for the job?

He also had some failure at FL and MI, his one success, Bama would have a lot of coaches with that as their success. Best D in the game and nothing but 4 and 5 stars on the team with a control freak as your boss.

The job should go to whoever has the best connect with the QB, that's the job and if that's Moore, why not give him a shot? What if, through his connection with Prescott, they can see the field and the D the same? That's what McVay did with Goff and what Nagy has done with Trubisky.

The Cowboys are about to make Prescott the QB of the near future of this team and the objective is to get the best guy to connect with him. Did y'all happen to catch the chemistry on the sideline, or lack thereof, between Prescott and Linehan after a bad series? Good series? No problem, but I watch that kind of stuff and there was little eye contact coming form the QB and that is not good.

They're not looking to hire an OC; they're looking to hire the QB his guy. Just like these other teams they've seen help the QB progress. This isn't about the offense; it is about the QB that they're getting ready to make rich.

You noticed that?

You noticed that Prescott and Linehan didn’t have much eye contact on the sideline?

That’s pretty astute considering that Linehan was in the coaching box, and not at field level.

Moore gets this job, no way Garrett is getting an extension before next offseason.

Moore as OC makes even less sense than when he was named QB coach. He was the last person I thought would come up as an OC candidate.

Sorry, you are wrong, he was on the sideline sometimes.

Moore threw for over 400 yards in a game (a loss as I recall) for the Cowboys with that noodle arm, so he's got something, somewhere going for him.

I don’t have a problem with making Moore OC. Has he earned it? No, not by a long shot but I do know the kid has a keen mind for football, even if his arm didn’t cooperate with his decision-making abilities when he was playing for Dallas. He did call good audibles but didn’t have the tools himself nor on the offense to execute plays a large part of the time. Plus, I don’t think he’d be the safe, bland playcaller that Linehan was. There’s absolutely no way the kid hasn’t heard how tired Cowboys fans are with that approach. Personally I think he’s got the football smarts to make the most of what this offense’s strengths are.

I'd like to know where the proof is that Moore has this "keen mind" for football. We all hear he is a football genius, yet he was terrible at QB. So let's promote him to QB coach. Dak can't make more than one read, holds the ball too long, takes unnecessary sacks, and panics in the pocket way more than he used to. So now let's promote him to OC. And if he fails at that, why not make him HC? After all, he's a genius, just like Garrett. It's almost as funny as it is terrifying. This organization just can't have that kind of mentality, can they?

Many of the criticisms floated on this forum were eventually addressed and to the benefit of the organization.

Kellen Moore has one year of coaching experience period. To move him to OC is insane. I think this is just some nonsensical rumor being floated for clicks. No way Jerry can see what Richard has done to the defense and think about one of these buddy hires, especially with Dak's contract coming up.
This is a good response. So much better than folks just *****ing about everything the Cowboys do.

Fans know absolutely nothing about the job Moore did last season. Yet they’re almost certain he was terrible. This is because mobs don’t think.

Hell, you may be right.

Garrett became an OC and Assistant Head Coach after being a QB coach to the likes of Jay Fiedler and Cleo Lemon for a single season, so who knows.

Maybe, despite not having any actual proof to the fact, we just happen to have struck gold with two offensive geniuses on staff.

I’m not arguing for it against the guy. I just don’t think it’s fair to conclude he’s a terrible coach just because he wasn’t a good NFL QB.

Considering the amount of hate some people on the forum have towards Dak and his performance, I'd say a good portion of those concluding he was terrible are doing so partly because they feel Dak was terrible.

Maybe. There were a lot of them who were sure before preseason started, though.
