The Martian-9.0/10.
Other than being like Castaway on Mars, it's really good. And I like Matt Damon better than Tom Hanks. Matt Damon plays ALL of his roles to the hilt. And Jeff Daniels and Sean Bean's scenes together are really good. And the 3D makes you feel like you're on Mars.

Cider House Rules. 9/10

I don't just give any movie 9/10. I'd consider this film a classic. Similar to Forest Gump in a sense with a naive character on an epic journey. But I think it was better than Gump. Great performance by Tobey Macguire and I'm far from a fan. The most surprising movie I've seen in a long time.

Star Wars.... Great action. Poor intercation between Han and Liea.

8 / 10 on my scale - but I love Star Wars.

Everest 8/10. I thought it was really gritty. I didn't know anything about the story going in. I enjoyed it a lot. I think I am going to watch it again to get more details of what happened. Really interesting story.

WAtched that tonight with grandson. I really enjoyed it. graphics were good and Damon was excellent. Much better than I thought it was going to be. Usually those type of movies get really cheesy but I thought the director kept those moments to a minimum. Very good movie. 8.5 out of 10

I saw this several years ago. I think that was Charlize Theron breakout performance. MIchael Caines is such a great actor. very good movie. It is hard to believe that movie came out in 1999. time flies.

sicario: 7/10. solid action and liked that it hit upon the long known gov't associations as a weapon to "mind cartels and make off the books money". could have went a step or two beyond what it did.

trainwreck: 7/10. as a rom-com the kind i actually can stand. very real people with real issues. enough sports to make me feel less cheesy watching it.

mi5: 8/10. these are predictable and formulaic of course but this one was very well done. action scenes were not as over the top as some but still very intense. best one since the 1st imho. rare to see that happen.

creed: 9/10. think i have commented on this before. excellent reboot of a classic series. should go on another 3 or 4 movie streak.

Knock knock : 2/10. Some of the worst dialogue I have ever heard in a movie. It's just bad. I gave it an extra point because I watched most of it at 1.5 speed on my ps3 and it made some of Keanu's whining quite humorous.

Deadpool 8/10

I didn't know the history of this comic and I'm not particularly a fan of Ryan Reynolds, but I heard a lot of good things about the movie. So I decided to go to the 10 o'clock matinee this morning. It deserves its R rating as there is lots of violence, sex scenes, and language. None of that matters to me but I know there are people who would get offended. The theater was surprisingly filled to 80 percent capacity, which says something because it was such an early showing and the temperature was in the mid-20's here. That's artic temperature for this area. There were too many young kids in attendance (<8 years old) IMO, but I'm not the kids' parents and they were quiet so they didn't bother me.

As I said there was a good amount of the R-rated stuff and truthfully I don't think it would have been nearly as good if they cleaned it up to get a PG rating. The movie was self-deprecating and there are a lot of good jokes throughout the movie. I even started to forget Renolds was Deadpool as I cared about the character, but my favorite character was Colossus. He was so square he was funny.

I will probably buy it when it comes out on video.

Crimson Peak... Made be the same guy who did Pan's Labyrinth, Devils backbone and a few others.

I. Was waiting to see this and hyped it up way too much. It was easily the worst of his movies I have seen and frankly more of a love story than a thriller or haunted movie. I am just glad I rented it instead of buying.

Watch pans labyrinth or Devils backbone... If you have not seen them, even with subtitles they are good. Skip Crimson peak.
