You're killing me. Are we talking about the website(s) being biased because their focus is films? I would get that. Using that notion, CowboysZone is bias about the Dallas Cowboys, which is understandable. Not you...the website.
What I'm referring to is the "Critics concensus". That crap reads like it was the best superhero movie ever made. There's no way whoever wrote that wasn't biased in some way. You're killing me. Critics Consensus: Black Panther elevates superhero cinema to thrilling new heights while telling one of the MCU's most absorbing stories -- and introducing some of its most fully realized charactersWhat I'm referring to is the "Critics concensus". It's the part about "elevating superhero cinema to new heights" that really gets me. The most exciting part of the movie was the tech gadgets, not the superhero himself. His personality was bland, and without the boost from the plant, he was pretty easily defeated by an ordinary human.Critics Consensus: Black Panther elevates superhero cinema to thrilling new heights while telling one of the MCU's most absorbing stories -- and introducing some of its most fully realized characters

I kinda see where you are coming from. The only thing I would suggest is that the writer attempted to sum up what the group of critics said in their reviews in an itty-bitty paragraph. Maybe he or she captured what the overall critics thought of the film. Perhaps not. He or she tried though.
Yeah,I thought it would be better. Just run of the mill war flick to me.12 Strong.
Good for what is was. I guess
Just wondering how much was h'wood sensationalized

That is your opinion. I respect it. Do not agree with it but that is my problem. It's the part about "elevating superhero cinema to new heights" that really gets me. Maybe....or maybe it's just one person's opinion, expressed as though it's actually a consensus of multiple critics.....or maybe he cherry picks the critics whose opinions he wants to paraphrase. I just don't see how any unbiased critic can be so over the top about a slightly better than average film. That is your opinion. I respect it. Do not agree with it but that is my problem.
Take a second and consider this possibility. The author of the critics consensus may share your same thoughts on the film. However, his job entails reading what the paid critics wrote in all their reviews and summarize what they said in a concise way. It was a consensus write up and not based on his alone.
That’s why I bailed on it so fast. Each time he took off his mask,I was like ...”I’m just not buying into this.” Like relax and put some personality into it people. It felt so subdued and monotone. It's the part about "elevating superhero cinema to new heights" that really gets me. I also thought most of their attempts at humor fell flat. That’s why I bailed on it so fast. Each time he took off his mask,I was like ...”I’m just not buying into this.” Like relax and put some personality into it people. It felt so subdued and monotone.
Because it sounded like them just reading lines from a script.I also thought most of their attempts at humor fell flat.

Edit: You have to deduct a half percent just for the rhino scenes.
I know what a consensus is, as opposed to a unanimous opinion. I saw the movie, and I've seen all the other Marvel movies, and Black Panther wasn't nearly as good as the majority of them, IMO.https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/black_panther_2018/reviews/?sort=
There you go. 21 pages of critics' reviews for the film. Readers' opinions are a brief synopsis or the critics' entire article posted with their individuals' publications.
In a simplistic way, Rotten Tomatoes expresses a review either as a fresh or rotten tomato--fresh equaling positive and rotten meaning negative. While scanning through the review synopsis, readers will notice a few rotten tomatoes listed beside some of them but the majority display fresh ones. It is a personal assumption but I think anyone reading any of the reviews will conclude each one accurately reflects what each particular author (e.g. critics) wrote.
So, what is a consensus as it might relate to a critics consensus?
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/consensus
consensus
noun
1a : general agreement : unanimity
b : the judgment arrived at by most of those concerned
2 : group solidarity in sentiment and belief
Please note the definition of consensus can be either most or all and should not always be interpreted as 'all'.
Hey, it looks like some of those critics agree with you and others in part or maybe completely but not all of them do. Most do not agree. Most would agree with the consensus write-up based upon what they themselves wrote.
Most = Consensus.
You do know if you were a paid critic and allowed your own review to be included and graded by Rotten Tomatoes that the critics consensus write up that we are discussing would have still remained unchanged?I know what a consensus is, as opposed to a unanimous opinion. I assume you mean my critique would have been discarded because it was a minority opinion? You do know if you were a paid critic and allowed your own review to be included and graded by Rotten Tomatoes that the critics consensus write up that we are discussing would have still remained unchanged?
Discarded? No. No critics' reviews are ever discarded on the sites and are available for visitors to read. Do you consider paid critics' negative reviews on the film that are posted on Rotten Tomatoes were discarded?I assume you mean my critique would have been discarded because it was a minority opinion?
Sorry, I didn't mean discarded as in thrown out. I'm asking if you mean that the person "summarizing" the reviews would have ignored my critique.Discarded? I am saying he would not have ignored your critique just as he did not ignore the other similarly negative critiques by paid critics posted on Rotten Tomatoes. Again, consensus can mean either most or all. The written critics consensus reflects what most of the paid critics said in their reviews.Sorry, I didn't mean discarded as in thrown out. Father Figures - Ed Helms Owen Wilson...I only got to the part where they met bradshaw and rhames. Maybe I was just not in the mood to watch it but for whatever reason I just could not go on.
Just did not seem to do it for me. If someone else has seen it and it gets much better after that point, let me know and maybe I will give it a try again later.
