Ravens tried to get Cowboys to trade down

Fine. Let someone else waste a premium pick on a RB. If the Cowboys weren't taking Ramsey at 4, then I'd still happily make that trade.

Except for this year (in part because they lost Suggs), the Ravens are EXCELLENT in identifying talent, especially in the first round. That they wanted Zeke tells you something about their ability to evaluate talent. So it looks like the Cowboys did a great job not trading down. In fact, the Cowboys have done pretty well over the past few years in identifying first-round talent.

Almost everyone on television was saying Zeke is a special back. If so, you take him if you believe he is - value be darn. ;)

Morris is the perfect back to spell Zeke for a series or two to keep him fresh for the 4th quarter and the season.

I'm not so sure about that… Morris is not the pass blocker, nor more importantly, the pass receiver, that McFadden is. Instead, Morris is a one trick pony. He may be The "fourth quarter, playing with the lead so all we do is run" back. Any other time, McFadden versatility will keep him ahead of Morris.

idiotic conjecture and you need to "stop it" u guys who act like you know are waste fluff!
It is quite possible E.E. was the target of a trade up so stop flappin youre lips like blades of grass in the wind w that bs, u dont know a friggin thing about who was or wasnt going to trade up or not so why ACT like you do?

most of nfl history rbs were drafted high and coveted dorsett, sanders, tomlinson, Peterson, lynch I remember watching these fools pass on steven jackson for supposed "value" in Julius Jones, very few of those late round running backs are truly great, mostly flashes like priest holmes

Did Steven Jackson win a Super Bowl or did I miss something?

I don't deny he's talented, but he's still a RB, which is a position that simply doesn't warrant a premium pick.

I was at the stadium and I was with one of the executives for sales. He told me way before about Ravens trying to trade with us. He said Jerry wasn't trading the pick at all. Didn't wanna take the chance of losing out on zeke

Good job Jerry. We've all seen what happens when Jerry tries to get "cute" with his draft day trades. Zeke is who they wanted and they didn't risk losing him. We got the guy we wanted. Picking up an extra 4th rounder and losing out on Bosa, Elliott, and Ramsey would have been heartbreaking. No 4th rounder is worth losing out on Elliott and Ramsey.

  • The Cowboys considered sending their No. 4 overall pick to the Ravens for the No. 6 pick and a fourth-rounder, tweets Adam Schefter. However, talks broke down due to the fact that Baltimore would have been moving up for Elliott, and the Cowboys didn’t want to miss out on the running back, tweets Clarence Hill.

If Elliott is the second coming of AP then we'll all look back at this discussion and laugh. If he's JAG then we wasted a premium pick. Only time will tell. This season he rushes for 1500 yards and 15 tds, I think it was worth the pick. We learned the hard way this past season that we can't just plug anybody at RB and expect All Pro play.

Hey! I actually called a Ravens/Dallas trade in my draft prediction! Sure the details were completely wrong and no one actually cares, but I at least have that one small morsel of dignity I can cling to!

I thought same thing. Ravens validated Dallas pick for me.

this.

so trade away 4 for 6. Ramsey goes at 4 and then someone trades up to 5 for Zeke. This board would kill jerry for that trade

Funny story. According to Jerry, the team wanting their pick wanted Zeke.

So why are fans bashing the Cowboys when they clearly wanted Zeke?

Fortunately the Ravens were honest in admitting they would take Zeke if they moved up

At least they didn't get cute. I believe at that point Zeke would have been the last blue chip player available. After the Cowboys snatched up Zeke the Jags went for Ramsey. They possibly could have went for Zeke for best value. We could have been screw up for a pitiful 4th or 5th rounder.

If he doesn't get hurt, he's offensive rookie of year and goes to the pro bowl. Romo should throw the ball about 15 times a game. This should be shades of the 1990's Cowboys.
