Did he have other ILBs out performing him on his own team?

3.3 sucks regardless of circumstances.

Darren McFadden had over 500 yards rushing on 155 carries with 200 receiving last year. That is really good production for a backup; especially behind the Oakland line.

What were some of you guys expecting to backup our rookie RB? A 1,000 yard rusher in his prime? I'm not at all against drafting two RBs in this draft, I've said this before, but McFadden is a solid backup.

What runningback wont do well here? We have a premiere offensive line that any team would take in a heartbeat....just because of that we dont and shouldn't go out and get every has been or top notch runningback out there. Use the oline as planned and save some cap at the same time, by using the rbs we have on the roster ... I mean im sure cj2k could run for 2500 yards behind this oline:cool:

Catch was comparing McClain to McFadden... not Rice. He isn't advocating bringing Rice in... he was talking about the possibility of McFadded playing ok in Dallas.

Instead of going after peterson or spending a first round pick on a rb, why isn't Ray Rice a good football option? he's only 28, he can run btw the tackles, pass block and catch out of the backfield and can probably be had for less years (like 1 year), less guaranteed (like veteran's minimum) and less risk than a drafted rookie running back.

So the only thing I can see people having apprehension with is the domestic violence issue. But as far as a team that had enough faith to keep josh brent and sign greg hardy, it seems like a moot point to me. Unless it's too much baggage to handle? thoughts?

Yeah he would be a good pick up but once the league started to crack down on DV teams are feeling iffy.

Kinda shocked at some of the responses. He had 1500 all purpose yards the year before, from what I understand, played through a hip/quad injury. He's had a year to heal up, you don't think he's worth a looksie on a cheap contract? But most of you would rather spend a first round pick a rookie rb coming off an ACL tear? Or eat Peterson's monster salary that will likely cost picks?

The difference in talent between the two is very big. One is at the top of his game and one of the best at his position the other is a JAG now.
That's pushing it... he hasn't done anything since 2013. He may be in his prime and a star player... but As it stands right now, Ray Rice has done FAR MORE than Hardy in terms of success in the NFL. Ray Rice just about singlehandedly carried an entire football team for seasons. I don't think Hardy will ever be able to say that. I wonder how many folks here realize that 7 of Hardy's 15 sacks in 2013 came from the last 2 games.

No.
Josh Brent is not known for using his manly muscles against a female or a child. Queue the "killed somebody" posse.

Let's just go to all the prisons and recruit from there. I'm sure the powers that be could go along with that plan and call it community service.

Seriously, Ray Rice isn't that good... we already have second tier RBs on the team, we need a starter. It's a bad idea with even worse after thought.

Ray Rice's NFL career is likely over no one is going to take on the PR nightmare a disgraced player like him would bring to a team. The last thing the Cowboys need is to add him along with Hardy. What Rice did in that elevator to his then girlfriend shocked and angered the entire country. The story became so big he'll never overcome it, It's completely overshadowed his football career. He would bring a distraction to a team like no other player has ever brought to an organization. Not only would the Cowboys have to deal with a huge backlash from the public but the late night circuit would have a field day cracking jokes about the team. The last time Rice saw the field in 2013 he sucked averaging 3.1 a carry that along with all the baggage he would bring will be enough to keep teams away from him.

No "NFL" team is going to touch Ray Rice. The name "Ray Rice" has become synonymous with domestic violence. What Rice did resulted in a TV campaign against domestic violence he's the poster boy for domestic violence. A friend of mine mentioned his name one day and his mother said "isn't that the guy who punched his girlfriend?" That's what he's now know for and you can't have a disgraced player representing your football team. The impact of that surveillance video ruined Rice's life and his football career. There's no way he'll ever overcome the impact of that video. Not only did he punch his then girlfriends lights out but he casually dragged her out of the elevator staring down at her showing no concern and not bothering to render aid.

He could have killed her with that punch but he showed not one ounce of concern. This is the 3rd thread I've seen suggesting the Cowboys sign Rice. What the heck is wrong with some of you? The guys name leaves a bad taste in everyones mouth but there's always a few who could care less what a player does off the field as long as they feel they can help you on the field. I'm sure if OJ was still in his prime at the time he committed those double murders there would have been a few football fans out there that would have wanted to sign him after he got off. Even though Rice is eligible to sign with any team he's likely been blacklisted by all 32 teams.

The league had to reinstate him but that doesn't mean teams have to sign him. :D Why bring a scum bag like Rice up who averaged only 3.1 a carry the last time he toted the rock in 2013 if many here feel any RB could run behind the Cowboys OL? You have to be desperate to bring in Ray Rice and most here feel the Cowboys are set with the backs they have due to their OL. If some of you really believed any back could run effectively behind the Cowboys OL then we wouldn't keep seeing threads about bringing in Ray Rice and trading the farm for Adrian Peterson.

If Rice was still playing at a high level then a team would go out and sign him. He isn't. He has trended downward over the last three seasons he saw the field.

2011
2068 yards from scrimmage
4.7 yards per rush
9.3 yards per reception

2012
1621 yards from scrimmage
4.4 yard per rush
7.8 yards per reception

2013
981 yards from scrimmage
3.1 yards per rush
5.5 yards per reception

I'm not buying that in the least he could have put up 1500 yards in 2013 and the Ravens would have still cut him and he would still be looking for a job. What's trended downward has been the publics opinion of him. Only a few teams looked at Hardy and there was no video of what he did. He put up 15 sacks in the last full season he played and he plays a position that's much more coveted than RB. Ray Rice is done as an NFL player.

You guys didn't watch Ray Rice play, did you? There were full breakdowns of his 2013 play and he was AWFUL. He's finished in the NFL as a starter.

He's finished in the NFL period! Did you even bother to read my posts? Respond to those who want to sign him.
