Re-draft question Smith vs JJ Watt

I live 90 miles from Houston and have to travel there every weekend for my daughter to play on her select soccer team so I see a lot of Texans fans and to tell the truth they do believe JJ Watt walks on water. I can't really argue with them on the subject because he is a game changer.

Not to take anything away from Smith who is a great player himself.

JJ is very nice. He'd be a guy any team PR wise would be dumb not to build around.

The big deal with him is that his hype is not hype..it's true. I so wish he was a Cowboy.

99 jersey sale well down here, starting to outpace the Andrea Johnson Jersey

Andre you mean? A Freudian slip of the typing or do you not like Johnson?

I see JJ commercials here in Atlanta. He's a guy the NFL should hype. Better than all those bad eggs.

I think the homer is coming out in some of the responders to this thread. If we had drafted Watt they would be saying the same thing about him. I call things like I see them. I never wear rose colored glasses.I am sorry but JJ Watt has a bigger impact on a game than Smith and I think Smith is a heck of a player.

type-o I like Johnson, not so much for this week but outside of this game yeah he is a great player.
As for JJ Watt he is in my mind a great player and quality person he and guys like Witten and many others are what is right about this league.

Smith stone walled one of the best pure pass rushers in the league two weeks ago. It's hard to notice when a LT does his job well. It's easy to notice when a LT does his job terribly. The DE is the exact opposite of that to a large extent.

How do you rate bigger impact?
Smith completely takes away the opposing teams best rusher, no game plan, you forget about him. I'll say that's a huge impact for the next 10+ years.

One of the first things I told my son before he went to work this morning is that the competition between Tyron and JJ Watt promises to be on one of the most interesting matchups of that game. Normally, if two Pro Bowl players play head-to-head, they cancel each other out. I could easily live with that. Yeah, baby -- let it be so.

i don't think it's rose colored, I just think it's different opinions. no doubt in my mind they've had equal impact.... tyron is his equal. If jj is a beast, tyron is assassin. one makes a lot of noise and gets immediate attention when he kills, one kills quietly.

Easy to see from Romo seat. lol

When I saw Andrea I said whoa! Haha.

I look at this like the 1984 NBA draft. Hakeem "the Dream" Olajuwon was drafted first and Michael Jordan was drafted third. Michael Jordan is widely considered the best NBA player in history but Hakeem was so good that nobody faults the Rockets for taking him over Jordan. Smith would be Olajuwon in that he is an awesome player but Watt would be the Jordan of this draft being a player who changed the way people look at d-lineman.

Note: I am a HUGE Houston Rockets fan and personally think Hakeem Olajuwon is the best center in NBA history as I watched EVERY game he ever played just like I do the Dallas Cowboys. So this comparison means something to me.

There are just a few sports players who I loved unconditionally during my youth. I no particular order Roger Staubach, Hakeem Olajuwon, Randy White, and Nolan Ryan. I loved all these guys equally and think they are the greatest ever to do what they did!!!!

And you are calling some of us homers. Maybe you should take those rose colored glasses off yourself.

Smith, all day any day.

If a defensive linemen gets pushed around all game and slips through for 2 lucky sacks, it's considered a good game.

If an offensive linemen dominates nearly every snap in a game, but slips or makes just two mistakes all game giving up a sack or two or a TFL, it's considered a horrible game.

DL can take plays off. OL can't.

It's like asking someone to compare Bruce Smith vs Larry Allen

or

Reggie White vs Anthony Munoz

sometimes there is no wrong decision. Fate decides. There are no wrong answers.
