Re-draft question Smith vs JJ Watt

True enough. While I was watching that special, I couldn't believe all they were getting away with.

Here is the MJ Greene special. Start watching at 2:08 until 2:50 and then watch from 3:02 for a few seconds and watch him walk by the Eagle player and nonchalantly elbow him in the face mask. LOL, the good old days.

Thing is back then you played your entire career for the most part with the same team and the opposing players were truly the enemy and you just did not like them at all. Now days the guy you don't like is a FA and now your teammate. I think there were some true grudges back then and they would play out on the field

Nowadays you have guys who are getting the opponents autograph after the games. It surely is a different time.

I found this from Mr. Todd Archer, (I believe) anyhow, How do you GM's feel this draft redo would play out?

  • Sunday’s game between the Cowboys and Houston Texans will feature two of the best players from the 2011 draft in Tyron Smith and J.J. Watt. I wonder where these guys would go in a re-draft. The Cowboys took Smith with the ninth pick of the first round. The Texans took Watt at No. 11. Cam Newton (Carolina), Von Miller (Denver), Marcell Dareus (Buffalo), A.J. Green (Cincinnati), Patrick Peterson (Arizona), Julio Jones (Atlanta), Aldon Smith (San Francisco) and Jake Locker (Tennessee) went before Smith. Jackonsville took Blaine Gabbert at No. 10 before Watt. There has to be some buyer’s remorse from Buffalo. Miller and Smith have had off-field issues. Locker clearly was the wrong pick. But the folks in Cincinnati, Arizona and Atlanta can’t be upset with their selections. If we’re re-grading the draft, then Smith and Watt would clearly be rated higher.

Whatever, but I'm glad Dallas took Smith. He is a bookend for ten years, and Frederick is the linchpin with Martin the other bookend.

Smith is very good but I would have to go with Watt. Watt is a game changer. I live in an area that is an upstart Texans area(used to be almost all Cowboys even during the Oilers hey day), and I see more JJ Watt jerseys being worn than any player from either team. I truly think he is the reason Texans fans are coming out of the woodwork where I live. Not to say jersey sales are everything but I think Watt has more impact than Smith on game day.

I like Watt as well but Tyron in all do respect is a man who stops game changers in their tracks. Tyron will never get the same press as Watt but when you have great D Lineman you better have some very talented OLineman to stop them.

I have heard he has a "he walks on water" reputation in Houston.

He's good for Texans business.

No wrong answer, both guys are impact players on the trenches. Smart pick by both teams.

I live 90 miles from Houston and have to travel there every weekend for my daughter to play on her select soccer team so I see a lot of Texans fans and to tell the truth they do believe JJ Watt walks on water. I can't really argue with them on the subject because he is a game changer.

Not to take anything away from Smith who is a great player himself.

Both would have worked out but that was the start too whats looking like an awesome Oline. That draft I would of been happy with either or, since we were in a 3-4

JJ Watt reminds me of Randy White in that he is a man playing amongst boys! You could put him almost anywhere and he would have an impact on the game.

Depending on how you feel about Newton the 1,2,3 in that draft is Watt, Smith and Quinn. Personall I would put Newton right after that group with skill players Peterson, Green and Jones next followed by Miller (who would be higher if not for the suspension) and Dareus.

That first round was insane for DL. Probably the best ever. Ligiut was the 2nd worse DL taken in the first and he is pretty damn good
