I was way down on him last year, but quite frankly other than the Fade Passes(tm) I thought he was doing a better job this year. Wracking up 200 yards rushing on the Giants isn't easy, and I thought his plays and calls had a lot to do with it.

But yesterday was atrocious. Worse than anything from last year.

I'm done with all of this staff except for DaCamillis and Houck. And please fire Wade Wilson like yesterday too.
I'm with you, Garrett and leaned waay too hard on the passing game since he got here (particularly since Sparano left), and not let our lineman figure out a Defense and let us pound the ball when we are in close games. There is a reason why the Steelers would run the ball until it mattered in the last 5 minutes of a close game, the lineman and linebackers would be winded and then they would run playaction to burn them.

DeCamillis, Houck, Peete and Herring are the few bright spots assistant coach wise. Wade's D is starting to tighten up and now the offense is starting to slow down. Campo and Garrett are on the hotseat IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if Peete or Sherman get promoted if Garrett continues to struggle..

I still think, like I have since last year, that the issue is a power struggle between assistant coaches wanting to succeed as a unit, and not win as a team.

Glad I am not the only that though not even having Witten go out for a pass was crazy. I mean him and Romo kind of have a bit of a good relationship and they seem to trust one another.

But what do I know...

That was the #1 thing I though of. You have the best tight end in football and a guy that has great comaradrie with the QB and you leave him in to block and throw it to Sam Hurd. Red ........ YOU ARE A MORON!

will it really matter if we change coaches? we just had a HOF coach 3 years ago, and we're in the same middling boat now as we were then

we never had a hall of fame coach with a complete team.

If the hire were right someone would be taking over a team with almost everything shored up. We have a weakness it seems at wr and offensive line.

Guess what mike holmgren's teams have had success with, for the most part....wr's and lineman. Now you could say that was ron wolf was responsible for that, and that would be true to.

And when you pass it on second and 11 and third and 11, you become entirely too predictable too.
This game was a game of field position, especially because it was so tight. You're the visiting team. You're playing at a higher altitude. You're in hostile surroundings. Your quarterback hasn't exactly been on target.

Some games you have to play for the close win. This was one of those games.

So is there ever a situation when it's OK to pass the ball?

In the first half, we had a pretty good mix of running and passing. The running game wasn't great, but it was working well enough (mostly Barber). In the second half, though, it did more harm than good.

And Romo completed 15 of his first 19 passes. He didn't start getting off-target until the fourth quarter, which usually is when he's at his best.

Wade said they had to keep him in to block against the blitz. I thought we had Bennett and Phillips for that. Witten is a Pro Bowler because of his pass catching. With the game on the line though, we're going to keep him in to block. Pure genius.

Red was certified by Jerrah as a genius. I also thought Bennet would block and Witten go out for a pass. Did any of the TE's go out for passes on those goalline plays?

when does a WR call for more run plays?

Good question. Not in their DNA. Makes me question whether he is really a receiver.:D

I'm sitting back almost lauging in tears at what I'm reading, seems like the Irony has been lost from this thread.

A player calling out a coach, we hated that last year.

I think that's a very good observation. I also think with Wade coaching D and Garret coaching the O, and obviously there is very little interaction between them. Which in effect means we really do not have a Head Coach.

I think alot of the blame has to go the players, they simply can't execute or maintain any intensity throughout an entire game.Running the ball is good, but you can't become one dimensional.Even Nate Newton made a comment of how they got away from the run to establish the pass.Maybe part of that was due to Barber being banged up.Unfortunately Romo was struggling again yesterday and couldn't get it going, when they tried to go back to the run they couldn't get it re-established.Some of the play calling was suspect, but hindsight is always 20/20.I know that this coaching staff has its shortcomings, but it ultimately comes down to the players making the plays. There seem to be players on this team that are more interested in personal fame and flapping their gums than winning championships. There are some talented players on this roster, but until they learn to play like a championship caliber team they will doomed to mediocrity. My advice to them is to quit eating the cheese until they figure it out.

I've said this on numerous posts, but I'll say it again - how many times has Roy run a slant route. Unless I'm going crazy, he's run....................................ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, on that play, Romo threw it over Roy's head and it got taken bakc to the house (Giants game). When is Garrett going to listen to Roys in his interviews when he REPEATEDLY STATES "I'm a different WR than TO. I'm a possession WR". Yet, every time I see the 'Boys on offense, I see Williams running DEEP routes (12+ yards before he even makes his first break). Williams is built in the mold of Irvin, Cris Carter, Keyshawn, etc.................. Stop using him like T.O. 60% of all passes to Williams should be between 0-10 yards. Then, once he has caught like 3-4 of those routes, THEN you try to hit him over the top. That is how they started out the Tampa game. Williams first 2 catches went for 20 yards. They were working him close to the LOS. Then, when Tampa started coming up to the LOS to challenge him, he busts a post route right down the seam for 66. That's how it's done folks. Plus, trying to hit him IN HIS COMFORT ZONE would probably help him and Romo get in a better rhythm, just like he does with Witten every game.
that's just it. Garrett keeps using Roy like he used T.O. Garrett is a bum

a complete team? defensively we have 1 pass rusher who gets no pressure due to the double and triple teams he gets cause the 1st round bust on the other side can't do anything. Our "best" cb continue's to give up big plays at the worst times. both Safeties are just terrible.

Offensively we have an over the hill, penalty machine at LT. we have a center who is all braun and no brains. we have 2 talented tightends but we only use 1. our wrs suck. we have a mentally soft qb.

far from a complete team.

This team was set up for failure the day Jerry hired Garrett before Wade was hired as head coach. That is what you call setting your team up for failure.

They're playing parts of the interview on GAC right now, and I want to focus on a very positive aspect of this... Crayton was VERY defensive of Romo. He totally had his back and said he was tired of everyone blaming Romo. He insisted that Romo could get the job done.

When they know that it's how you win games.

When I saw that it was another Crayton's mouth thread I was immediately thinking shut the f up Patrick. But he's right on with this one.

Good to know.

As laufenberg pointed out yesterday, this team has faltered under adversity in the past because of a certain finger pointer who would divide the locker room and create problems.

Now guys are taking blame and promising to move forward and get better. Whether they do or will, I dont know but at least we are a real team again like in 05. Its one giant group, for better or worse.

Listening to all of the excuses and people defending it at the time was quite humorous. Acting like Jerry wasn't doing the same crap he did prior to Parcells. Riiight. He dove right in head first the moment Bill left the Ranch.

Witten was wide open on first down. Second down was the spike.

On third down and fourth down, the only people running patterns were Hurd, Crayton and Austin.

I was so frustrated at that point in the game, I didn't notice that. 2 of our biggest guys and they aren't out running routes with the game on the line in the red zone? That is a head scratcher.
