Report: Cowboys DBs coach Jerome Henderson to join Dolphins coaching staff

My brother is a die hard Dolphins' fan. He told me earlier that they are likely to sign CIncy's DC once he is available. So I told him how I've always admired the job he's done and how well he rejuvenated guys like TNew. Told him I loved how his DBs played. As soon as the Jerome Henderson news broke I called him to let him know that whatever good was done for the DBs by hiring Cincy's DC was just undone.

I wish Henderson well cause I never want to see a man lose his job, but I'm glad we are starting anew.

I don't think Guenther is available just like that. If so, I would be surprised.

Sometimes I wonder what other teams see in coaches. This guy was in charge of a secondary which had the fewest takeaways in the league by a sizeable margin

They look at what he did with a bad Browns team where they could take chances. They were probably all free lancing half the time.

Very excited for him to be gone. Have never been happy with our secondary since he has been here. Players never turned around to look at the ball and they never played players aggressively. Always 10-15 yards off...

Hope this can be the start of a new chapter, especially if we can get rid of Carr, Claiborne, Church, and Wilcox.

Soooo......I'm confused, was it the coach or the players?

I think we way overestimate the impact positional coaches have. They can't transcend the quality of the personnel they have to work with. Looking at it another way, if they were great, they wouldn't be positional coaches......

I just do not think Lovie Smith would take second fiddle, no matter how much he and Marinelli are buddies.

If he was open to it, it would be fine with me. Bring Frazier too.

Then he could be a great interim coach at some time in 2016.

Funny. I didn't even see your post in the NFL zone before posting that.
It may be. But since Marinelli is not going anywhere, it would probably be smart to make the best of it.

We haven't run a Tampa 2 scheme in years. Marinelli also ran more of a cover 2 in Chicago.

We ran more of a cover 3 last year and more of a Cover 1 this year. Cover 2 is sprinkled in. I'm guessing out thinking was a better pass rush and cover 1 coverage would result in a better product. Unfortunately, Lee is the only guy in the middle of the field with any instincts, Morris/Carr in trail position are terrible and can't locate a ball unless they're staring at the QB

One reason why pick plays killed us is because even 4 years in the league Morris can't figure them out.
