I was trying to think of a way to keep Ro motivated by creatively structuring the contract to make the fine as small as possible while also keeping incentives in that would motivate him to play in as many games in a row as possible.
I wouldn't want to give Ro a big signing bonus at this point in his return plus making the bonus the bulk of his pay undermines the idea of keeping him motivated to play each week by earning his pay as he goes
How about this.
2 million dollar base salary with 1 million of it guaranteed.
1/2 million dollar of season workout bonus.
1/2 million dollar training camp practice bonus. No practice, no pay.
1/2 million dollar in season practice bonus. No practice, no pay.
1 million dollars if he leads the team in tackles.
1/2 million dollars if he leads the team in pass deflections.
2 million dollar game day active 45 injured or not.
I would structure his contract to look something like this. It would allow him to make up to $7 million range and most likely would allow him to get around 5-6 million for the first season. I also wouldn't mind to see a player option (3 year deal for 22 million with 10 million guaranteed) if he hit a certain amount of these incentives, say $6 million. Not sure they do this much if ever but you could bet your *** it would get him motivated. Obviously the practice, workout bonus and game day active roster would break down to daily or weekly.
What do you guys think of something like this?
