Requiring Lights Out Defensive Play Is Not A Formula For Success

Yeah, the problem is with the way the NFL is now, they want points on the scoreboard. There are going to be games that offenses are getting the calls and just outplaying the defense, in those games, the offense has to be able to score more than...oh let's say 19 points.
Our issue right now is inside red zone.

Good news we are easily getting there

Bad news is we need to score TD I stead of field goals. I get that. MM needs to figure it out. His personnel grouping, play designs aren't that good. Like last week on the play that got intercepted. Bad design. Bad execution. This week he put Deuce blocking a blitzing LB inside the 5. Why not Leupke? Or a TE on that side?

MM has to figure it out. I am giving them more time.....

I respect everyone's opinion because in reality, I would at least hope, we all want the same thing, which is a Cowboys win each week. There are always things that can be better, offense, defense, special teams, specific players, etc...but why not cross the bridge with those complaints when we get there?

If requiring "lights out defense" isn't a recipe for success, why not wait until specific games and issues arise to vent those complaints? We won 38-3 and the same day, hours later, we are gonna pick apart what's going to lead us to lose games later? Inevitably, we are going to lose a couple of games, it's the way the season plays out for even the better teams in the league. Why not allow yourself to enjoy the win one week at a time?

I've pissed and moaned over coaching, players, scheme, God knows what else in past seasons. It's one week at a time and we are 3-1. I'll address concerns If we have a crap game like last week but you gotta play the game one week at a time. Nothing wrong with enjoying and being happy with a big win. Of course it's just my opinion, but a win is a win.
Because some people want the Cowboys to lose, so they can complain. Specifically they complain about the offense. This post wasn't about offense though. His intentions were to begin a back handed complaint thread about Dak. The mods told him not to start "beetle juice" threads. So now he is trying to be smart and do it another way. I haven't read through the trash but quickly he will point fi gers at the one that shall not be named ;)

The OP has come out of the closet and said he hopes Cowboys lose. He wants Cowboys to lose. His words.

So you wo Der why he posts this type of trash. There is your reason. He can not enjoy Cowboys wins. He celebrates Cowboys losses.

Enjoy the win, there's no need to complain about everything, especially Dak in every post you join.

Maybe you're just a miserable person rhat can't live without complaining, but let the rest of us enjoy a win!

Your constant whining in a message board will not do anything to change the team.

Yeah, problem is we've really had a pretty cake schedule so far. We've faced some decent defenses that have nothing to really threaten us offensively. That ends this week. Doubt our defense will be holding a lot of the upcoming offenses to 10 points or less or scoring multiple times a game. Offense is going to have to figure these things out fast. I still think our run defense is only as good as the points differential allows it to be. Like I said, hard to complain with a blowout, but there are some red flags to nitpick.

Only this fanbase finds something to complain about after a 38-3 win. I doubt Eagles fans are complaining about 4-0 even though they haven't really been that impressive.
They should be complaining. Coaching almost lost them a game today for no good reason.

The only thing the Cowboys have to do is score more points than the 49ers. Everything else is just the means to this end.

At some point in their franchise history, The Cowboys have won with less offensive yardage, less first downs, less turnovers, less, more penalties, less time and less plays.

Tony Romo once threw 5 INT's in the same game and the Cowboys won.

We're 3-1.

The 1 is from the one game that the defense didn't play lights out.

The game last week showed what happens if the defense isn't dominate.

The defense/special teams have put the ball into the end zone more than the passing game has thus far.

This is not sustainable and if these red zone issues are not fixed we are going to lose more games that we should win.
It is if that’s how you built your team. You better inform Mike. He said all off season he wanted to play games through his defense. The offense has some playmakers and a line held together with bailing wire. The defense is younger and more talented. We have a good offense, but this is the first year in a long long time that our defense is the better unit.

I think we need a tad more down field shots before the endzone, these screens and short passes seem to never work in the redzone

Lambs td for example
A lot of people will probably scroll past your post, but I think it is a really good one. So many better angles and ways to threaten a defense, prior to getting down in a confined space inside the 10 or the 20.

This is his way of taking a subtle jab at Dak when in reality it was the offense who started the game off hot and should’ve been 14-3 after two possessions if not for the Schoonmaker drop. Carry on

A win is a win but I did not see anything different that would make me feel more confident about beating SF after coming off the AZ loss and seeing all of our warts get exposed. 2 TDs from the offense is usually not going to win against quality teams (and really 1 TD came in late garbage time).

Right now that seems to be the pace that they're on each week.

Offensive TDs:
Week 1 at NYG: 3
Week 2 vs. NYJ: 2
Week 3 at AZ: 1
Week 4 vs. NE: 2

^I do not think this is the formula for a "Super Bowl contender"
If this defense is really a great defense it will travel. A great D should keep you in just about every game. This team with Dak driving the bus is definitely a Super Bowl contender if this D travels. Let’s find out vs the Whiners. Great D almost always beats great O.
