Rolando McClain Negotiations Not Good

I'm sure the Cowboys have little incentive to give anymore than the average they gave to those two linebackers they just signed.
McClain is similar to Hardy, in that he has some flags that will scare off some teams, so his options are very limited.

I can only see him being a Cowboy or Patriot.

He just needs to take what is being offered and head back to Dallas to start playing football.

You can't skip practice all year, miss games, and demand big money. Especially when your previous situation was a disaster.

i could see the 49ers signing him with their current situation at lb. but i can't see him getting a big contract anywhere.

i can also see him retiring if he doesn't get what he what he wants. i love the way he plays and what he brings to the defense but there is too much weird stuff around Ro.

We are the only ones who will give him any guaranteed money.

They've already given more money to Brinkley and Gachkar than you would expect for backups. Lee and Hitchens were likely the Nickel LBs even with RoMc on the roster. They now have many LBs with starting experience.

I think the Brinkley and Gachkar contracts indicate they have moved on from RoMc.

Yeah at this point I think the team views Ro as a 'nice to have' rather than a 'need to have' guy. They likely won't pay too much for the luxury either, especially given the limited market for him. Still, it would have been nice to see this guy and Lee out there together (even if only for a quarter or two).

Brinkley, Gachkar, and Rivers means they don't have to overpay McClain. Yes, it would be nice to have him back and I hope that happens but I certainly do not want to commit big money to him for an extended period of time and I doubt the team does either. I also doubt any other team will come along and be willing to do so. If they were, it likely would have been done. Dallas certainly may get outbid at some point but he is no longer a must sign. He is a luxury that must come at the right price.

McClain is smart to hold off on re-signing with Dallas; he is such a hot commodity right now and he knows it! ;)

Eh...either he'll sign for something decent to the Cowboys or they're obviously going to go on without him.

I don't blame the Cowboys either.

I agree with you.

I think they've moved on.

Is he being investigated for arson?

I haven't heard any rumors regarding visits or interest from any other teams. Given his history, he has very little leverge regarding contracts.

I want him back, but I'm afraid that if he isn't happy with the money he's making, he would be more trouble than he's worth. A healthy, happy and focused McClain is a force and a great guy to have on your team. But if he's not happy, he would become a distraction.

Only thing I ever saw was a comment that the Packers were interested.

Would very much like to see Rolando back but okay with letting him walk if contract demands are too high. I thinks he makes this defense much better, his physical and aggressive style is catching, and he keeps Lee out of the MIKE spot.

100% agree. They seem to be looking at the LB corps the way they did the DL over the last few years - no bad contracts, flush out the older players, sign mid tier role players to cap friendly and throw waves of volume. They seem to expect injuries as the nature of the front seven, so they are going to favor spelling, depth and utility over high cost impact players, unless they find some value. They will then supplement with the draft.

I think it's a strong approach myself.

I'm sure that's why they have interest in McKinnley from Miss State. I too am not a huge RoMac supporter. Too many issues.

Same here. The guy basically quit against the Packers from various reports. If true, he isn't worth it.
