Roy Williams (WR) is a Cowboy! *** Merged ***

Who are we going to find at the bottom of the 1st round with the Talent of a high 1st round pick in Roy E. Williams?

Our team is stacked, this was a no brainer, stop complaining and let's enjoy some good news after all the Pacman crap around here.
we found someone named felix jones.

Roddy white and Holmes are studs!!!!!!

But they weren't their rookie years. It took White 3 seasons to become good and that is fairly typical of young receivers.

We just improved our defense by seriously upgrading our offense. Just something to consider.
:hammer:

A similar trade almost worked for the Patriots last season.

yea.....this is true Calvin Johnson was good rookie season either.

We also found Carpenter/Spears/Roy Williams I (who isn't as good as RW 2) Ellis who is a career average DLineman.

Who in the draft is going to be better than Roy Williams at where we pick?

And yet, despite having a better QB, Holmes #s are almost identical to Williams this season. But yes, Roddy White is a stud.

Was offense the problem on this team? I don't see how Roy Williams helps the Cowboys dramatically this year -- especially with the emergence of Miles Austin.

I'll never be pissed about spending a 1st rounder on a good player with Bobby Carpenters sorry *** on the team.

Until hes gone, no matter what the team does with a 1st rounder, it will look genius.
We offered Carpenter for John Beck. Parcells declined for now. He might change his mind this off season.

Why? Is Parcells not happy with Ronnie Brown at QB?

Has anyone seen the replay of Ronnie Brown receiving the direct snap and running it in for the touchdown? The guy was smiling at the defense even before he called "hike"! Funny stuff. :D

Taking a chance on draft pick is one thing, Throwing multiple picks at a player who's proven that he's JAG is stoooopid. He wasn't worth a first for Detroit, so we gave a 1st, 3rd & 6th for him.

:bang2:

I have mixed feelings: the guy is an incredible talent, but I live in Michigan and he was very inconsistent with routes and catching the ball. On the other hand, EVERY player that puts on the honolulu blue and silver just........well, they go down a notch or two. That jersey is like cryptonite, except for Barry Sanders. Kitna is brutal for sure and so is the oline so his so-so stats don't bother me. I'm more than willing to give it a shot. 2 questions for you guys:

1) I really think RW is more of a middle of the field guy that can make tough catches in traffic. He CAN get deep but he isn't a burner and I really think TO and Austin will be doing that. Now we've got Witten, RW and Crayton for all the underneath to intermediate stuff that quite frankly Johnson only throws now anyway. (RW will also be an UNBELIEVABLE weapon on the goal line, where we've struggled getting people open for 2 seasons now) Brad did throw a nice deep ball or two in preseason, but.....it's not his strength. So, I see alot of you saying RW is the "deep threat" agree or disagree with what I said here?

2) You guys have seen him in college: I've only seen his inconsistent pro career (admittedly with a crappy team NOT all his fault) Question is this: can this guy LEAD? We need more leadership, just wondering if he could help......

Very good post.

I'm not surprised you haven't received much response because most everyone here is too busy celebrating to take a close look at Roy's time in Detroit.

Maybe it's the franchise he played for, but it bothers me to give up that much for a guy who lacks intangibles such as work ethic, leadership, etc.

I knew we were offering multiple picks, but I thought the 1st round pick was off the board. I guess Jerry though #32 is almost a 2nd anyway.

That's the way I'm lookin' at it!

And again, I think the moves in this year's draft were made to have the extra ammo to get a receiver like Roy Williams.

Mission accomplished.

Hostile said:
No one we drafted in 2009 could help as much as Roy will in 2009. Haivng Crayton at #3 is a huge matchup problem for every Defense out there. Patrick Crayton just got more valuable to this Offense. The guy I feel for is Miles Austin. He could be the 3rd guy next year though. Tony really believes in him. He could actually beat Patrick for the 3rd spot.

No one will stop Witten now.

Show me a team with comparable offensive firepower at the skill positions.

Now this team needs to play to their 'on paper' abilities and we'll be in great shape.

Johnson needs to hold the fort for a few weeks.

I think we can beat the Rams, but if we can win against Tampa Bay we'll still be in great shape the rest of the way.

Bottom line, Jerry was playing poker and he wagged his tail AGAIN.

Yep. That's our Jerry. :laugh2:

Parcells does not like Beck. I am shocked he traded McCown and kept Beck. Pennington and Henne are his guys. Beck will be moved and I think will end up being Romo's primary backup in 2009 and beyond.

I'm sorry but Roy Williams>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Miles Austin.

And yes, offense is a problem. We are struggling to move the ball because of the triple coverage on Owens and the other receivers not being able to beat one man, Roy fixes that problem.

ridiculous ...... Roy Williams is every bit worth what we gave for him.

1st 3rd and 6th and we get a 7th and Roy Williams. Apparently Jerry signed him long term also.

Its a smart move by the NEW ADMINISTRATION ;) for the Lions

That puts whatshisname to shame.

Honestly, we should made this move in the preseason. I knew this team would struggle without another legitimate WR opposite of Owens. I knew defenses would focus on shutting down Owens and taking their chances with whoever was on the other side. This is not only going to open Owen's game but it's going to improve the running game as well.
