If we release him you don't get a comp pick

I stand corrected.

I'm surprised that you are not eligible if you release a player for salary cap reasons. I thought we did a couple years ago for Ware which is why I was mistaken, I did a little research and I see I was wrong.

Not really a secret in NFL circles...Jerry, Stephen and Garrett have a lot of love and respect for Tony. Right thing to do in my opinion. He lost his job due to injury not poor play which rarely happens to QBs...they know that and it holds weight in the decision making.

Their obligation is to the team first though, not Tony. So if they can get compensation for him that should trump any desire to just do Tony a solid.

I hear ya Sydla but fans forget that sometimes personal relationships exist in the business of football.

He can refuse to report and/or retire, thus nullifying the deal. This isn't rocket surgery.

Fine, retire then. And pay back the $5 million you owe on the contract you failed to honor.

One good turn...

And sometimes fans make them out to be more important than they truly are.

:lmao:at the idea that Jones would make him pay back the signing bonus. You obviously pay no attention at all.

He's been that since 1995...What's changed? Stephen is patiently waiting his turn.

The part about not looking like an idiot. He gives up the most valuable position in sports for nothing in return, and he's the butt of jokes for the entire league. And he knows it.

Jerry doesn't want to look like a fool.

Not to nonsense I don't. Where buddies and pals and hurt feelings come before draft picks, cap space, and millions of dollars.
