Did not expect Rush to lose the QB2 spot. Did not expect to see Lance on the final 53, either. He played himself off the 53 but was saved by Jerruh himself.

The Cowboys coaches know if Lance has to play, NFL coordinators will make him look foolish. I don't know why people are struggling to understand that Lance is just not ready yet and he may never be. The 49ers, are are doing pretty well developing Purdy, couldn't help Lance, and now the Cowboys appear to be having the same struggles with him. Remember, Lance couldn't beat out Purdy or Sam Darnold before he was traded to Dallas.

I think the trade was a worthy risk with a potential decent reward if Lance could be developed, but if he doesn't a 4th round pick is not the end of the world either. They cut Viliami Fehoko this year without batting an eyelash.

Did they get their info from the team, or is this more PFT crap?:popcorn:

Will Trey be active and they get him in a few plays like Hill gets in NO?
I wouldn't be surprised to see some individual plays designed for Lance, but that's different than who would start if Dak got hurt. The preseason INT's might have cost Lance when it comes to that.

if it were 5TDS and 1 int, he'd clearly be the 2nd stringer

Against real players playing real NFL schemes. Doing it against Home Depot employees playing basic defensive packages is far worse.

We are 4 years into his career and I’m not sure how much he has improved since college. Every single problem is still just there. His problems were that was inaccurate, bad at reading defenses, and had poor form. All of that is still true.
You do realize many of these players do have college degrees or near to getting one.

and then there is that 4 years excuse that is not a true 4 years. I mean why can't the fans learn this already. Oh, AGENDA.....

I did not say he would start. But he has the potential to push a starter that is not all that good.
Possibly. The reality is he should have been a 5th - 7th rd developmental draft pick. And given how many (few) years he had left on his rookie contract, we should never have traded for him. We could have done so much more with that 4th rd pick (like a RB).

Does any fan honestly believe they would have chosen a RB with that pick? I don't.

Only in agenda driven narratives (for some) does a fan think he would have lasted until the late rounds. They only use the reasons that some repeat in every post.
Say it often and enough, it becomes an urban legend.

It’s probably going to be high. He had a problem with balls sailing on him all summer.
Thanks Daks cousin, we appreciate you being on his payroll. Always giving inaccurate facts, don’t understand basic common sense, and above all complete lack of knowledge about facts. You AC, and the homers will be following Dak. Maybe Dak should play with backups so we know what he can do with them. You know play with what Lance has and see how he does. Earn his way which he hasn’t done with backups, had a free pass his rookie year and closest we saw was 2018 when he struggled until cooper came and saved him.

Lance had a great team in San Francisco when he was handed the starting job and didn’t look very good. Will Grier was playing with backups last season in the final preseason game and lit it up. Dak got the starting job in 2016 playing well with backups in preseason. The Cowboys liked what they saw and didn’t bring in a veteran after Romo was injured. You need to learn some basic common sense.

I love how people think they now what other people think.

It has zero to do with Dak. Trance is a joke. It was a waste of a pick, money and time and he will be a FA at the end of the year. If he is resigned, it will be another mistake.

It has zero to do with Dak or being a Dak fan. It has every thing to do with being Cowboys fan. As a Cowboys fan I don't like wasting draft picks or salary cap money. NO ONE, pays $5.3M a year and trades a 4th round pick for an emergency QB.
Trance and Dakota the difference is we know what we have with Dak. Loser that chokes and wants something he hasn’t earned.

Notice i said "like" a RB which indicates i am not married to that position being the pick. I probably would have been happy with whoever they selected in the 4th since they would have most likely provided more value than trey lance..
and the team does a relatively good job in identifying talent in those mid to late rounds.

I think the big issue with Lance being #2 on the depth chart is that you really change the entire offense with him in the game. Its a lot more quick reads and throws, RPOs, designed runs, etc. You really want your backup to be able to come into a game when needed and run an abbreviated version of the same offense so the other 10 players on the field dont have to change too much from the game plan they've prepped for all week. I think if Dak were to miss an extended amount of time you'd see Lance get starts over Rush as they'd have time to install packages specific to what Lance does well. I think Rush is the guy to get you through a game, but also isnt a legit multi game starter in this league either. Lance is obviously unproven here, but does offer the upside that Rush doesnt.
