That’s a great question. That’s a hard one to answer. Romo and Dak are 2 of the more perplexing QBs I’ve seen on any team. Well throw in Cousins to that mix. These guys have shown greatness is the regular season and poor play in the post season. It’s confusing. Yeah that’s the word I would use to define Romo, Dak and Cousins. Confusing. These guys can be an all pro one game and then the next game look terrible.

I’ve used Quincy Carter as an example to fight the narrative that Dak is irreplaceable. I stand by that. The reason why I believe Romo and Dak haven’t been “the guy “ and we’re still in QB purgatory is due to Dak’s and Romo’s inconsistency. Now that Romo is gone who cares about him. But for Dak, there were times last season were I was watching him thinking this dude is it. This dude is MVP and he’s playing the best in the league, then BOOM Miami and Buffalo hit. Then obviously Green Bay hit. I feel the inconsistency is the reason I feel he is another guy in a long list of guys that couldn’t replace Aikman. Same as Romo. Inconsistent and Dak and Romo have their worst games at the worst time. That’s JMO. I do feel if you watch Dak in the regular season against most teams and walk away saying he’s not top 10 then you’re blinded by hate and bias. If you watch Dak play against SF, Buffalo, Arizona, Miami, and in the playoffs and you walk away thinking we got to pay this guy whatever he wants then you’re blinded by homerism and bias. I’m not opposed to resigning Dak today for 30-35 APY, it’s not my first choice, but I’d be okay to happy about it. It’s that inconsistency that pulls me back to he’s not the guy to replace Aikman.

Yeah sorry that was so long. Dak is not a black and white issue with me. It’s very grey due to the inconsistency and what he’s asking for. Also good call with Bruce Costlett sabotaging Carter. He did prefer Hutchison. I wonder if Jerry did too. He was infatuated with baseball players during that era. Weird.
I think Quincy too was a former MLB guy no? For some reason I feel like he was in the Cubs system.

What you’re saying isn’t wrong.

I get your stance. I think quarterbacks have bad games. I’m fine with stinking it up against Miami and Buffalo.

That Packers game though. Or any playoff game for that matter.

I criticized Romo for it and gotta do the same with Dak. I need him to play above his head. Playing good enough isn’t good enough in the playoffs.

They dont like him because he is not a good QB lol

He had a very bad preseason. Two outright awful games, and one that was decent. The decent game.

Some fans either oversold themselves on his potential and convinced themselves thay excuses were reality (they arent). Or that the Cowboys 4th round investment in him is justified (its not)
Just as some fans undersold themselves on his potential, it works both ways.

So we traded a 4th round pick and paid a few million bucks for a 3rd string QB on an expiring contract.
I assume you mean we traded a 4th for a lost cause. But at this time we don't know yet if it was a lost cause. Not only that, a 4th round pick is not a bad price for a decent chance for an eventual starting QB. Even a 1st round pick is no guarantee of success. Tom Brady was selected in the 6th round! Like I said, a 4th rounder is not a bad price to pay.

Just to clarify, what do you suppose an NFL team would be willing to trade for the Cowboys’ QB3, that is a free agent 27 weeks from now, its 72 hours from the start of the 2024 NFL season, and the guy looks like he is incapable of being a productive NFL quarterback? Two firsts? Most deluded Cowboys fans think the guy has value. I don’t.
Right now there is little value in him, just some hope based on a few nice plays and athleticism. Jerry sees something, I mean he must, right? Why else give up the 4th and pour a full pre-season into seeing what there might be. All this just to let him sit on the bench? The most confusing thing is Rush got no pre-season action, and what happens if Dak goes down early? QB 1 and QB 2 saw barely a snap....very odd, yet not surprising

Give more examples of Jerry's mistake does not excuse the mistake of trading for Trance.
I’m not giving you examples of Jerry’s mistakes I’m giving you examples of how you made a demeaning nickname for Lance and no one else. If you don’t want people to think you don’t have a personal issue with a player don’t refer to him in every post in every thread with a demeaning nickname.

LOL..anyone that is actually looking for examples of "Jerry's mistakes" is blind to any other realities other than their own agenda. Pointless discussion probably.

“Jerry sees something”? He is no judge of talent at any position. And if he saw something in Lance it was not at the Cowboys’ facilities. He traded for him without consulting anyone. Trey Lance is likely out of the league after this season. There will be no “gadget” plays. Any quarterback in the NFL can run RPOs effectively. If you have to dream up ways to get Lance on the field he obviously doesn’t belong on it. The fans hoping Lance will ever play quarterback in the NFL are fantacizing. If Jerry hadn’t paid him $4.5 million on the 5th day of training camp and owe him $800,000 more guaranteed he would have been released. Since he’ll never play there is no harm in having him be QB3.

Jerry knows he has to acquire a competent quarterback for 2025. He’s not going to acquiesce to Dak’s salary demands. Rush and Lance are not QB1 candidates. There will be a fresh start next season regardless of what occurs this season.

Pretty much what it looks like right now, but from all the commotion I did think Jerry saw something in Trey in the 3 games he played but that appears to not be so ay longer. Like you said, he will never admit defeat no matter how things play out.

This is because Dak’s uncertainty with his contract is personified by Lance. Fans that want Dak signed see Lance as the reason Dak isn’t signed. Completely ignoring Dak wants to be the highest paid player in NFL history with a 2-5 playoff record.

If we traded for a player that was a top 5 pick that wasn’t panning out at any other position besides QB people would not hate him.
Absolutely ridiculous take. In reality, this is your take to cover for how you feel after realizing Lance is not that good, not even better than Cooper Rush.

Cant throw????
Didnt he have approx 350 yds passing vrs Chargers?
And 5 INTs on 49 passes against players not in the NFL right now. Basically that doesn’t help his “I can play QB against real players” when he looked mediocre, at best, against base packages and far worse players.

As all NFL QBs have done at some point.
Against real players playing real NFL schemes. Doing it against Home Depot employees playing basic defensive packages is far worse.

We are 4 years into his career and I’m not sure how much he has improved since college. Every single problem is still just there. His problems were that was inaccurate, bad at reading defenses, and had poor form. All of that is still true.

Playing playground football with players not in the NFL right now, where three of those picks came in under five minutes left in the game. I mean, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

He seemed to do fine not turning it over against the Raiders defensive starters with the second team the previous week.

3rd string for 2024 and possibly gone after this season.
