I think Quincy too was a former MLB guy no? For some reason I feel like he was in the Cubs system. That’s a great question. That’s a hard one to answer. Romo and Dak are 2 of the more perplexing QBs I’ve seen on any team. Well throw in Cousins to that mix. These guys have shown greatness is the regular season and poor play in the post season. It’s confusing. Yeah that’s the word I would use to define Romo, Dak and Cousins. Confusing. These guys can be an all pro one game and then the next game look terrible.
I’ve used Quincy Carter as an example to fight the narrative that Dak is irreplaceable. I stand by that. The reason why I believe Romo and Dak haven’t been “the guy “ and we’re still in QB purgatory is due to Dak’s and Romo’s inconsistency. Now that Romo is gone who cares about him. But for Dak, there were times last season were I was watching him thinking this dude is it. This dude is MVP and he’s playing the best in the league, then BOOM Miami and Buffalo hit. Then obviously Green Bay hit. I feel the inconsistency is the reason I feel he is another guy in a long list of guys that couldn’t replace Aikman. Same as Romo. Inconsistent and Dak and Romo have their worst games at the worst time. That’s JMO. I do feel if you watch Dak in the regular season against most teams and walk away saying he’s not top 10 then you’re blinded by hate and bias. If you watch Dak play against SF, Buffalo, Arizona, Miami, and in the playoffs and you walk away thinking we got to pay this guy whatever he wants then you’re blinded by homerism and bias. I’m not opposed to resigning Dak today for 30-35 APY, it’s not my first choice, but I’d be okay to happy about it. It’s that inconsistency that pulls me back to he’s not the guy to replace Aikman.
Yeah sorry that was so long. Dak is not a black and white issue with me. It’s very grey due to the inconsistency and what he’s asking for. Also good call with Bruce Costlett sabotaging Carter. He did prefer Hutchison. I wonder if Jerry did too. He was infatuated with baseball players during that era. Weird.
What you’re saying isn’t wrong.
I get your stance. I think quarterbacks have bad games. I’m fine with stinking it up against Miami and Buffalo.
That Packers game though. Or any playoff game for that matter.
I criticized Romo for it and gotta do the same with Dak. I need him to play above his head. Playing good enough isn’t good enough in the playoffs.
