Based on what we gave up for him (4th)...What others were willing to give up (5th or lower)...and how he performedthis preseason...up and down against 2nd, 3rd and off the roster players. I would say they would give up a conditional 6th or 7th pick at this point.
I would say no team would be willing to trade anything for him “at this point’. My god, he can be had for nothing soon enough. If the Cowboys thought he had any value whatsoever they’d try to sign him to some sort of contract beyond this season. They don’t and no other team will either. That star on the helmet does not magically give you additional value, in fact it means absolutely nothing. “conditional 6th or 7th”…that’s what the Cowboys would have to send with him if they could find a team stupid enough to take over his contract for the balance of the year…and he’s only owed $800,000 between now and the last game of the season. He would already be gone if that money was not guaranteed. What a joke.

Doesn't surprise me. Rush is probably the top backup in the league.
I imagine if a team lost their starter, we could entertain a hell of an offer for him.

So we traded a 4th round pick and paid a few million bucks for a 3rd string QB on an expiring contract.

I thought Dallas might cut Rush during the NFL cutdown day.

Rush has been splitting snaps with Lance in camp.

and Lance clearly is more athletic than Rush.

Dallas could have saved $1 mil in cap by cutting/resigning Rush at vet min.

but it would have been an insult to Rush, and he likely would have signed somewhere else.

hes UFA after the season and likely won’t be back.
Trance will be in CFL.

They didn’t exercise the 5th year option. Dak was practicing. Most teams don’t even play their starting QBs anymore, so I’m not sure you can really say they wasted it.
Definitely a waste. He will be gone next year.

Jekyll and Hyde…. Arm strength and release is legit, as well as legs.. mental is the issue..
You have no idea that it is mental. Sure looked like he handled that part in his limited games.

Why dont they just stash Lance on the PS? Why active? Seems like a wasted roster spot. I mean, whos gonna poach Lance anyway? Honestly. I'm pretty sure he's safe.

SMH at the posters who are still beating the drum for Trey Lance. He was a major bust in SF where he could not make QB2. Given a legit shot in Dallas he failed again to be anything other than the emergency guy. Landry and Parcells both said that if a guy does not show promise and cannot help you after three seasons move on. Time to turn the page on this Cowboy saga.

He would not even make it past waivers, or last a second. Multiple teams would claim him.

It Dak signs a 4/$230 MM deal this forum is going to be wild.
As in 4 more years of one and done in the playoffs. If they make it.

I am sure they can the next few years. But what will the team look like surrounding him in 3 years.
