SMH at the posters who are still beating the drum for Trey Lance. He was a major bust in SF where he could not make QB2. Given a legit shot in Dallas he failed again to be anything other than the emergency guy. Landry and Parcells both said that if a guy does not show promise and cannot help you after three seasons move on. Time to turn the page on this Cowboy saga.
It was a future money thing with SF. if they did not luck into Purdy. Trey would been starting last year For them.
It had nothing to die with getting beat out.

Why all the hate for him? He was not going to start over Dak this year. So in fear of 2025, which QB will be here.

As in 4 more years of one and done in the playoffs. If they make it.

I am sure they can the next few years. But what will the team look like surrounding him in 3 years.
It won’t matter and it’s not really Dak. That’s the point. It’s the 80 year old paternity dodger and his nepo baby.

Doesn't surprise me. Rush is probably the top backup in the league.
I imagine if a team lost their starter, we could entertain a hell of an offer for him.
What team in the NFL has a less accomplished QB2 than the Dallas Cowboys? Less starts, less wins as a starter, and paid less than Rush. Because teams don’t open the check book for a QB2 if he’s not expected to play in the event the starter goes down. What team that loses their QB1 will trade for Rush, and offer “a hell of an offer for him”, if their starter is out for any length of time? Can you suggest a potential team?

He would not even make it past waivers, or last a second. Multiple teams would claim him.
Yep. In a QB starved league he would be claimed in a heartbeat. Too much raw physical talent and potential. People that are gnashing their teeth about the 4th round pick forget that we were in a bidding war with Buffalo to get him.

No one should mind keeping Lance for developmental purposes but not at his 1st round price tag. Backup type money only and that's being generous. He should go play in the UFL for a season. He's getting paid almost 3x as much as Rush and couldn't get close to bumping him out of the backup spot. No bueno...

They can do several types of packages. RPO type plays. Especially inside the 10. Have Zeke in, so will Zeke run, or pass block, or block for Trey to run.
And just even at midfield have him in to keep the defense from knowing what will happen.
Any QB in the NFL can do RPO.

He did. He also threw 5 picks against players who aren’t in the league.
Those were simply times he shouldnt have thrown it, 3 of the 5 anyway ...
Its not that he cant throw.

He does need to learn to go opposite of what MM offense 1st look... defense floods 1st look

All that wait and things are the same!! Cheers to Rush!

If Dak doesn't get extended by the start of the season, I think this is a very temporary situation.
I look for the Cowboys to find ways to play Lance by mid season or even earlier so that they know whether or not he is a viable alternative to Dak.

This is because Dak’s uncertainty with his contract is personified by Lance. Fans that want Dak signed see Lance as the reason Dak isn’t signed. Completely ignoring Dak wants to be the highest paid player in NFL history with a 2-5 playoff record.

If we traded for a player that was a top 5 pick that wasn’t panning out at any other position besides QB people would not hate him.

I agree, after this season I would like to sign him to a 3rd string contract and try to develop him. If he won’t sign for that deal then let him walk. This year’s salary is already done and paid for. It’s not like if we cut him today we’re going to go sign someone for 5 million. That ship sailed. If Lance was under contract for next year at 5 million then I’d cut him because he can’t beat out Rush. I’d want to save the money. But if next year he signs for vet minimum then keep him and see what happens.

I love how people think they now what other people think.

It has zero to do with Dak. Trance is a joke. It was a waste of a pick, money and time and he will be a FA at the end of the year. If he is resigned, it will be another mistake.

It has zero to do with Dak or being a Dak fan. It has every thing to do with being Cowboys fan. As a Cowboys fan I don't like wasting draft picks or salary cap money. NO ONE, pays $5.3M a year and trades a 4th round pick for an emergency QB.

So you’re saying if this was a WR, DT, or LB with physical abilities that caused him to be drafted in the top 5 and we took a flyer on him for a 4th rounder while on his rookie contract it would be a mistake? Nope. That’s a good risk to take.

The fact you reacted so strongly when Dak is mentioned is an indicator it’s all about Dak. Everything involving this team has taken on this weird Dak filter and is viewed on how it affects Dak. It’s weird.

Lance should be the #2 on game day with Rush as the emergency QB. Lance is very atheltic and there are things they can do with him. Now if Dak is out for a game or two, then yes, at this point, Rush probably gives you the best chance at a W. To have Lance on the 53 and not use him in some capacity is silly.
......apparently some things aren't as obvious as night & day.
