He is playing on a team that should be 7 and 3 after next week. He wouldn't be playing if he wasn't needed.
Hes playing because the Hendershot is on IR and the front office have Bozo and Cookie the clown skills at times. I stand by i think it was a bad pick for the present. remains to be seen if he pans out for the future. We had bigger needs. In fact Im not enamoured at all with any of the 23 draft but being fair its early i know

He is better than Hendershot.

Those were all drafted AHEAD of Schoon. He was taken late 2nd. Once Schoon gets this passing game figured out and gets some targets he will surprise folks. He is huge and can run. For now the OP is right, throwing some good blocks out there.
He kind of reminds me of pre-injury Jarwin when it comes to the physical traits.

He could turn into a real good one in a few years.

Luke Schoonmaker is 6'5 and runs a 4'6. Get him on some deeper routes. He runs like a deer. These TE's are not old Jason Witten

we are in win now mode not what you got for me down the road. I think it was the wrong direction to go and nothing he has done thus far has given me an indication im wrong but well see

I personally wanted the highest rated OT left on the board round 2 not another TE. The Eagles drafted an OT after the Schoon pick

He caught a TD in Philly but somehow the safety wrestled him to the ground half a foot short . Somehow I’m thinking Witten drags the safety into the end zone . I expect this pick and the Mazi Smith pick to improve with reps.

With the development of Jake Ferguson, it’s going to be tough for Schoonmaker to ever live up to his draft status. Ferguson showed potential as a good receiving TE as a rookie and continues to get better and better. He and Dak our developing some good chemistry. Granted it’s still early with Schoonmaker but I’ll go on record right now and say he’ll never see a second contract with the team.
Neither may. With a QB, Micah, lamb and by then bland it’s gonna be like a Schultz situation and they probably feel like it’s easier to churn the TE position over some others. That’s a couple years away but I’m sure that’s something in their minds. To really manage the cap you have to always be thinking a few years ahead so that was probably some factor in the shoon decision

I wanted a tackle in the first but they had other ideas. This coming draft, as with most you will have more needs than picks so we won’t fill all the needs because the list is too long. If Richard’s and bass can develop that’s really huge especially if bass could be a center. Someone mentioned he took some center snaps

They’ll hang onto Ferguson if he continues to improve. To have a real good offense you need a good pass receiving TE who is a security blanket for your QB. Schoonmaker won’t see a second contract with the team. John Stevens was looking terrific in training camp until he was injured. He could be in the mix next season.

I can’t wait until he catches the game winning catch in the SB this season.

Weren’t they all gone?
Yes. I believe they were. he was the best of the rest. As to rankings at the time.
Now was he a reach. Maybe. I wanted an OL or RB. But was not unhappy with the pick.
I will give him this year and into next year.

We let Schultz walk. I think they see TE as a spot you can churn. The thing is you can only have so many guys getting second contracts and we know lamb, micah and bland will sense they are elite. Still awhile before we have to make that decision but if you have to let a position play out then TE is one of the easier ones to fill

Agree. I thought there were better options but time will tell. I would have done our first and second rounds differently but then again I’m not paid nor qualified to make those decisions lol

Ya me as well but i would have been fine with torrence as well but Ive heard he woudnt be a fit. Now Im hoping that Richards and Bass work out. I think the cowboys are actually still holding out hope for Waletsko and Ball which Im not sure why
