We let Schultz walk. I think they see TE as a spot you can churn. The thing is you can only have so many guys getting second contracts and we know lamb, micah and bland will sense they are elite. Still awhile before we have to make that decision but if you have to let a position play out then TE is one of the easier ones to fill
Before Schultz left they franchised him for a season. They didn’t let him walk the following season, they offered him a contract and he turned it down. He made the decision to go somewhere else. All our great championship teams had excellent pass receiving TEs. Once we feel like we have a real good TE we’ll stay with them. The jury is still out on Ferguson, but he continues to develop and get better. Only time will tell if he’s a TE we want to build a future with.

Yeah those first 12 years of team history was rough. Now days plenty of fast food to keep meat on the bones.

He's a huge liability in the passing game.

I shudder when I think of some of the other TE's that were drafted this year. LaPorta, Kincaid, Mayer
Honestly I didn't care for drafting a TE in the 2nd round. It didn't matter which they took. I was all aboard for a RB. A bruising, 3 down RB was my wish. IMO, that's what this team is missing.

Im aware that drafted a project late and I hope he pans out sooner not later. We are in win now mode. Reaching for the TE that wasnt not a need was dumb especially with the talent available.
Maybe, but he can contribute right now to help the biggest weakness on offense..... The run game.

I don't care where someone is drafted. Just get guys that can contribute to help win ball games right now and if they have upside to develop other abilities down the road, that's good too.

Folks wanted Tolbert gone last season cause he hardly played, now those same folks want Tolbert to take Gallup spot.

The signs of a really good team is your draft picks aren't all starters. If you need your rookies to start, you're team isn't great

Ya me as well but i would have been fine with torrence as well but Ive heard he woudnt be a fit. Now Im hoping that Richards and Bass work out. I think the cowboys are actually still holding out hope for Waletsko and Ball which Im not sure why

Neither of those 2 will help. Ball & Waletzco

They generally make offers but don’t always make offers that get it don’t. They tagged Schultz because they didn’t have other options. That may be the reason for shoon is they think he gives them options. Time will tell if that’s the case

Terrible pick...I was wrong about him and gave him a chance because of his workout numbers but now I'd like to apologize to everyone who knew he was going to be a bust. He isn't even as good as Hendershot...you're basically seeing him do things that any practice squad TE in the NFL can do. Definitely not worthy of a 2nd round draft pick

Say what you want about Schoonmaker in the passing game, he's basically what we ordered when we opted for a blocking TE.

I saw him making way a few times out there, so I know he's been doing his job in that regard.|

Pollard, too, on the touchdown to Ferg. Pollard is money pass-blocking in the redzone.
Schoonmaker's blocking has actually been a weak point for him this year. Ferguson has been the much better blocker

what's your point so is terrence steele in most of these games of late and make ton of money, .lol . this kid will come along eventually and get it all together. Dalton wasn't great his first 2 seasons and slowly made progress and now hes very good TE. we ahve our starter in Fugrs this kid is the backup and will take a while with limited snaps to have it all click..

He couldn't catch a cold. Mitts of granite.
maybe you couldn't catch a cold but this kid, now in the NFL(what team do you play for) , was being dragged to the ground and caught the football while being interfered with in big moment.... would have been the game winner, i've seen him make a few good catches....like terrell owens and michael gallup and even Noah brown also show they eventually catch the football. but they have all had issues at times holding onto the ball and hes a Rookie who missed a lot of camp!!! can we give them damn man a break peole around here are just upset the FO didn't take somebody else they wanted ill trust the coaches,

They tried re-signing Schultz prior to franchising him. He developed into a good receiving TE and they wanted to keep him. They franchised him because he was valuable to our offense and they couldn’t afford to lose him, Amari Cooper and Cedric Wilson. They traded Amari and allowed Wilson to walk. We couldn’t lose our number one WR and our starting TE. Schoonmaker will not be in the plans if he doesn’t develop into a good receiver. He’s not getting many opportunities in the passing game because he’s not a good receiver and Ferguson continues to move way ahead of him.
