Schultz = Witten 2.0?

He wont be jason witten because dak wont have a personal lovefest with him like romo did with witten.

While alienating the team and getting T.O. cut
TO was only ever about himself. I would have gladly taken Witten, Crayton, Austin, etc. over TO.

He screwed the 49ers over and then did the same to the Eagles.

I was glad when he left so if it was Romo's fault or Witten's fault or Jerry's fault or TO's fault, I don't care.

I was happy he was gone!

TO just had a bad personality; the man gave it all he had on the field all the time and that was the one thing I admired him for.

He was the best wr we had since Mike. He worked harder than anyone on the team and he just wanted to win more than anything.

The only person that liked playing with T.O. is a hall of famer. Go figure

I've had much the same thoughts cross my mind as that of the OP. Schultz has a knack for getting open and keeping possession of the ball, also. He's seldom prone to dropping catchable balls, as well, as well as bringing in some borderline ones. I'm liking this TE more with each passing game.

Schultz isn't up there with the greats just yet but he can be. He is a complete TE and he just needs to continue making plays when called upon.

He will never be a top receiving TE because he’s not gonna get the targets some guys like Kittle does
But he fits really well in this offense and he makes plays when his number is called

He plays more athletically than his first year
He looks faster to me and breaks more tackles
He’s really developed into a good all around player
well isnt that shocker!! fans wanted to give up on him early called him names wished he was cut and now hes good.is it because some players take time to actually develop LMAO..

around here its rookie all star or bust/jag label.

That’s really true
I liked his play early on but he not only has developed as a player but just seems more athletic which you don’t see guys improving that way much

umm always

its called the weight room, trainers, diets etc etc ...did you see tom brady rookie pictures..dad bod comes to mind lol its happens more frewusnrtly then you think , players can grow if they dedicate themselves..sometimes its the super freaks that dont work hard once they make this show they live off natural talent..

That's fair. I'd just like to see him out there more. If we're going 1 TE, he's the guy. He can quietly have a 6,8, maybe 10 year career where he is pretty dam productive just like last year.

I was watching a video of the Cowboys mic'd up against the Eagles.

After scoring his 2nd TD, Schultz is sitting on the bench, repeating, "I just block.....I just block...."

Anyone else think he may just have a tiny, little chip on his shoulders?

He does remind me of a slightly more athletic Witten (or Witten in his youth).

If he can just continue to be a reliable blocker and minor threat as a receiver I’ll be happy.

It will be interesting to see what the team does in terms of resigning him or not. I can definitely see another team luring him in fee agency with the notion of him being a primary target in the passing game.
Im hoping a contract similar to Logan Thomas. I think his #'s will dip a bit once Gallup is healthy. Would be killer sweet if we could bring them both back on not crazy deals

Exactly what is the problem w/ saying a current player reminds you of a past player?
Because Witten is a HOFer and one of the best TE's of all time. Unless you are talking specifically Old Man Witten, the comparison is ambitious to the point you are almost assuredly going to be let down

Let's just hope when it's time Schultz doesn't retire AFTER the draft then come back and hamper development of his replacements.

Typical fan overreaction

- i don't see anything that resembles Witten besides having the knack to sit or operate in soft spots and zone coverages , He feasts off Dak's terrific ball handling play action and roll outs and the enormous attention the WRs continue to draw.

- We don't see Schultz shucking and shimmering the patented shoulders hip fakes and jukes away from tight coverage LBs and safeties the way Witten did ... the GOAT in his prime of course.

- So long as he can find soft openings and zone play, Schultz can take advantage of that.

- He's an average blocker .. Jarwin is a below average blocker

He's perfect...for what we like to do with his skill set,
But if we somehow discover a hidden gem like a Darren Waller or a George Kittle in late rounds,.. man i'd take that all day ! .

Ummm, suggesting Crayton, Austin or any other lower case WR was on TO's level is just flimsy.
