you trade them a 5th or 6th and Akin Ayodele, and that allows them to save face to an extent. Ayodele would be released or at least has limited time on his contract, and we're stocked at his position with the aquisition of Zack Thomas. So that explains that.

I don't think we trade Carpenter at this point. Not for such a low cost. If a 6th or higher is still involved I don't see us trading him. Cause I would think we would ask for at least a 5th or 6th for him in the first place.

Nice. Stay classy, San Diego. At least my handle gets the proper capitalization it deserves.

What is my 'kind' anyways?

Anyone else notice some seriously off-target points here?

Pacman Jones has made it clear he wants to be a Cowboy. Dallas is doing its part to make sure that happens.

After their initial offer of a seventh-round draft pick to the Titans for their suspended cornerback was rejected, the Cowboys have upped their proposal to include a player along with the late-round selection, a source told SI.com.

The Titans are warming to the offer, according to the source, but a few financial ramifications need to be addressed before the deal can be consummated. Jones has two years remaining on his original five-year, $30 million deal, (wrong, given his one year suspension, he still has three years remaining) and the Cowboys want to redo that contract, likely to a one-year deal to protect their interests (explain the benefit of redoing his contract to a one year deal?). Jones is on record stating his willingness to renegotiate the contract and his agent, Manny Arora, reportedly met with Cowboys' officials earlier in the week to address the situation.

Jones' current contract is not a detriment, but part of the appeal of trading for him. His upcoming salaries are a pittance for a player of his ability! DeAngelo Hall just got $70 million! Yeah, that DeAngelo Hall! Why would the Cowboys give up a player and a pick only to work Jones' contract down to a one-year deal where he could turn one year of good behavior into even more money?

Jones is currently suspended by the NFL and awaiting reinstatement from commissioner Roger Goodell. Though Jones' off-field woes detract from his talent - he's been arrested six times since May 2005 -- the Titans realize Jones is a Pro Bowl-caliber player and are attempting to recoup some value in exchange for the troubled star. Jones was the Titans' best defensive player when he last suited up for them in 2006, and his electrifying return skills make him an impact player in two phases of the game.

"The kid was the sixth pick in the draft and we need to get something of value in return," an unnamed Titans official said.

That's great, Troy Williamson was what?, the seventh pick in that same draft? He just got traded if I remember correctly, what did the Vikings get for him? Tennessee should wise up and take what they can get.

If it's Ayodele and a fifth rounder, that's more than fair.

As A Titan fan I would take any draft pick for Jones, a player is a huge added bonus. The cowboys are the only team offering anything and if they didn't trade for Jones the Titans would cut Jones in all likelyhood.

Jones is on felony probation and will probably end up in prison before he even gets suspended by the league again and the Titans have to get anything they can while they can.

As far as a player, the Titans need DL after losing Laboy and Odom. Spears might work and Ellis would to depending on if the Cowboys want to clear the way for Spencer to play.

You think you have a shot at a starter. Nice.

Spears or Ellis isn't going to happen. I think more along the lines of a linebacker - most likely former starter Akin Ayodele.

I agree it will probably be a back up LB or some other back-up...

But the fact Jerry Jones is the trading partner does give hope he will overpay. He has a habit of that in trades.

Absolutely no way in hell it's Carpenter.

I agree. If I'm not mistaken, keeping him and cutting him is a wash money-wise. So why cut him?

You need to look at someone in the latter years of a contract that won't hurt the cap by cutting. So it's not Crayton  which is ridiculous or anyone else with a large cap hit.

Other than the Galloway trade what are you talking about? The Walker trade, trading for additional firsts the last few years, the Haley trade etc all fly in the face of that idea.

I think Jones has a great track record when it comes to dealing. The only one I would say he 'overpaid' for would be Joey Galloway.

Tennessee would look pretty foolish if Jones walks away and they're ultimately forced to release Pacman.

Maybe the Titans should worry about chasing away their only customer?

Give'em Crayton.

Trade for Williams, draft a WR in the first day and keep the fingers crossed that either Austin or Stanback will pan out. That's 5 spots already filled at the position and Crayton will be absolutely worthless in ST (not that he contributed much anyway). The Titans also could use help at the WR position.

I know it won't happen for various reasons, but I was never a real big fan of Crayton and wouldn't be upset to see him go.

Are you insane? Not liking Crayton is one thing, but you dont trade him for Pacman??? He is a pretty good 3 wr, already a pretty savy route runner. I have as big a problem with his playoff performance as anyone, but you dont trade ANY starter for Pacman. (akin prob not "starter" at this point)

Jerry had nothing to do with the Walker and Haley trades.

He traded for Galloway and OJ Santiago?(TE)

Oh, OK.

Then who did own the team when those trades happened?

He brokered both and we only gave up a fourth for Santiago and were desperate for a TE.

Crayton would be huge for the Titans because they have no receiving weapons period. He could potentially be there #1. But I can't see us giving up Crayton and a pick. My guess is...

Terry Glenn. Both are gambles, but if both players work out for their respective teams, it would be a huge benefit. Terry Glenn and a 6th for Pacman sounds like a deal to me!

Why would you do that to Glenn? He has been nothing but a class act here. If he can't play then cut him for performance issues...fine, he'll understand that, but to trade him for someone like Pacman and make him feel like a scrub. Dude, have a little humanity will you. I hope JJ doesn't do like you suggested.
