Honestly, we should lower the guaranteed money, give Dak the 4 year deal he wants at $33M per, and draft Jalen Hurts in the 3rd-4th round. Then just let it all play out on the field. If after year 2, the gap between Dak and Hurts is not that great, you trade/cut Dak. And you have a starting QB at rookie money (and some dead money from Dak). If Hurts does not pan out as starter quality, you keep Dak and still have a good backup in Hurts. And then you pay market value to re-sign Dak in year 5 or just franchise him for 2 years like Cousins and move on.

U have a vested interest in our own check. Big difference here......
You're old enough to know that these things happen.
Dak has a vested interest in his own check also.

Sometimes things come down to the last second because it has to.
Been through it more than I'd like.

And it was never money! Money was handed like air. It was the details.
Rights, percentages, obligations (my biggest issue always)...

You wish they'll have a replacement ready.

Let me tell you something: They won't.
Not so sure.

There are ways to manage this.

The first is not signing Dak nor Amari.

Thank both but the team is going in another direction.

Take their $60 + mil/yr and go shopping.

There are several FA QBs out there we can look at or..

Dak was a 4th Rd pick. I think with our new staff, we could take a QB in the first Rd and build the team offensively.

If DAK can do it, somebody else can with our roster.

The team made Dak what he was in 2016. Not the other way around.

We might even trade for a vet QB who is on a team and is being replaced. We can use next year's draft if needed to do this.

Draft a WR to go with a new QB. Saving money there and many seem capable of playing that are coming out.

Find the rest of our needs as we go.

You know teams are going to release players after the draft.

Teams with cap space are going to clean up.

Same thing in September. Final cuts will help us greatly.

I see many possibilities if we will but look.

I have to go through negotiations to get paid almost for every check I make.
If this is wearing you thin... I don't know what to say.
Hey Corso, just move to Colorado and become legal. I’ll come up and visit.

I get you and your thoughts are valid.
I just remember all the QB's after Aikman and even how they lucked into Dak after trying to get even worse QB's on purpose.

We all have our reservations of certain things, I guess.

Has there ever been a rookie QB that leads his team to the Super Bowl? Answer is no.

For some reason my gut is telling me he wants a 4 with an out after 3.

Yeah. Could see it. Could see a 4 with no out also.

I'll be cool with whatever, as long as they don't go with the Tag game.
I mean they can Tag to continue to negotiate, but playing on the Tag is useless and a monster hit on the cap.

And then it will be negotiating against a new CBA's rules with an exploding cap and people's eyeballs will be falling out of their collective faces over here when they see the new numbers.
