It's not an easy task to get a top 3 QB, but convincing yourself that you have one (despite lacking the success that usually comes with it) is just spinning your wheels.

It's also the kind of talent assessment I'd expect from a personnel guy with 3 playoff wins in 26 years.

And we have all known this. They grossly over value their own guys. Pay them too much and think they are all better than they are.

I think they both think if they get in the playoffs they have a chance to win a SB, just get in with any type of team, any qb, and they can
then magically win all the playoff games and SB.

Someone they know and like needs to explain the reality to them, that you actually have to have a great team to win a SB, and a great HC,
And if dak is a # 2 lol, then they better get a # 1 !
Tell them there is no magic fantasy land dream where they can win SB with the teams and coaches they have had, and have now.

I like Dak. I think he is good. Not great, but good. I think you can win with him. Can you win it all? Not sure. This year was going to be important to him to see if he can elevate the rest of the team.

What SJ comment means to me is we can scrap QB in the draft if we wind up with a top 5 pick. Maybe there is not a QB who deserves a top 5 pick, but I think it is safe to say the Jones will not look at QB. I would think it is more likely they use a top 5 pick on another corner.

I am not sure where Dak ranks relative to other starting QB's.

Based purely on typical QB metrics (yards, TD's, interceptions), he certainly ranks top 10.

I suspect, Dak is easily top 10 in the intangibles: teammate, attitude, work ethic, face of the Cowboys.. simply put, Dak is an ideal representative of the Cowboys and the NFL.

When judged by post-season success and, perhaps more importantly, the ability to "lift" those around, he hasn't enjoyed near the success of his peers. In fact, I would list him in the bottom have of the other starting QB's.

With regard to lifting those around him, it seems that he needs to be surrounded by an above average OL, RB and WR's to be successful.

I am not knocking Dak as much as offering a contrary view to SJ.

To be fair, it's not Jerry Jones' fault things haven't come together in Dallas. He doesn't control injuries or how players play. The Cowboys have had everything they need to be a legitimate contender in the NFC, it simply hasn't come together.

With that being said, it looks like Jones made a big mistake sending Amari Cooper to Cleveland. The Cowboys offense simply isn't the same.

He's correct in saying that frequently changing GMs isn't a recipe to success. Finding the right GM and sticking with him is the way to go. Does Jerral's track record in the post-season suggest he's the right guy for the job?

I couldn't care less if he sells the team, but sticking to a losing formula for nearly 3 decades is the definition of insanity. Bad luck with injuries happens to every team in the league. Some are able to push through and find success. The Dallas Cowboys haven't been able to do that for a really long time, and there's only one common denominator throughout those years. True. But I doubt the Chiefs and Bengals consciously approach building a team thinking they can skip in 1 area because of the QB, especially one that affects the QB.
