I know we've had some new guys try out in special teams packages. Guys who may not have played on special teams in college or even high school, but give me a break. Some of these guys haven't been disciplined enough to stick to their lanes on coverage. A portion of the blame can be put on Coach Read (even though he wants to point fingers at his kicker), but most of the blame should be assumed by guys who are trying to make the roster and are doing a poor job of it.

What we need is a backup OL and ILB.

It would be nice to end the week with chris simms, a new lineman and another inside linebacker.
I am not sure who is heavy at linebacker though, I know san diego always has an abundance of talent and I know philly keeps saying they have too much at linebacker.
going to be a fun week.

I would equate this to Stephen drumming up interest. Everyone realizes we have very little wiggle room on this roster to begin with and we have even less now injuries are beginning to become a problem. There would be little reason to trade for players that it is known will have to be cut.
I would be very surprised to see a significant trade that makes an impact. We might see a few swaps that amount to what would be orchestrated waiver wire moves where a team gives up a "conditional" choice (which really is a disguised 'future consideration') in exchange for some bench rider.

At least trade for something that can help some where on the field....not a deactivated clipboard carrier that will never get one snap in practice!
I agree with that. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and Stephen's dad is only one of the biggest BS kings of all time.Alexander;2209948 said:Not trying to ruin anyone's dreams, but I think I recall something similar last year and the year before about our depth and the phone potentially ringing off the hook with trade offers and nothing materialized.

Why do you want to trade tony curtis? Did I miss something?
Curtis could be dealt to Parcells and we wouldnt really miss him
InmanRoshi;2210024 said:Considering how badly he's PWNED us in every trade so far, maybe we need to stop trading with Parcells and Ireland.
So now we have a need at ILB? Can someone explain to me why we gave away Akin Ayodele for nothing? What a phenomenally stupid trade that was.
theebs;2210039 said:Dude I love parcells. probably even more than you do.
but we really couldnt keep ayodele. He wasnt going to be happy being a backup and he wouldnt play on third downs. He only had trade value this year, and his value was debatable after that horriffic trade. I will never understand trading fasano and ferguson.
I do understand trading ayodele though. Before the injuries he would just be occupying a roster spot. He was never going to beat out thomas or james.
The ayodele trade is pretty obvious to me.
InmanRoshi;2210054 said:When you say "He wasn't going to accept a back up role" you act like he had any choice in the matter. He was under contract. He had two options .. play for the Cowboys or not play for the Cowboys.
Even if you're right, the Cowboys 'threw in" a starting middle linebacker for nothing in April. They could have gone into training camp with at least giving mouth service to an open competition and see what shaked out on the injury front. It's not like injuries to Zach Thomas or Kevin Burnett would come out of the blue. If at the end of training camp it's determined he's not needed, give him away then. Or better yet, wait and see if a team doesn't break camp desperate for LB's after preseason injuries and actually try to get something. Not only did the Cowboys sell low on an asset, they just gave it away.
