He looked good in practice. That is why put our faith in him. But come game day he was a completely different player.

I don't know about that, the Weeden I saw this year looked a hell of a lot like the Weeden I saw against Arizona last year.

Again, this coaching staff cant see what 95% of the fan base can see...........go look at the preseason threads, everybody said Weeden sucked and it was a bad idea keeping him but instead we were all told that Weeden threw the prettiest ball you have ever seen, even better than Troy Aikman.

I remember them mentioning that on air during one of the games this year and Aikman just started laughing his arse off, just like most of us when we heard that.

I am all in for getting Johnny as a backup.

He is the closest QB to Romo for him to groom, and he would easily accept the back seat to Romo with little issue.

Romo probably won't make it through another NFL season, so the QB they drafted with that top 5 pick would start.

That's what I've been saying, Romo will never again play a full season. The rookie will probably end up playing as much as Romo, during his rookie year. This happened to Big Ben, he was suppose to sit behind Maddox, but in the first game of the season Maddox got injured and they went with Ben instead of Hatch. Same thing is likely to happen with the rookie. Imagine what happens if Romo gets injured in the first 2 or 3 games of the season next year.

The sooner they draft the next QB the better. NFL ready QBs will only get harder to find because most college teams run the stupid spread offense.

It is probably what is likely to happen, if for nothing else, to keep the media spotlight shining bright and microphones in Jerry's face. You know how Jerry loves that spotlight and those microphones. Which is one reason I think firing Garrett is a slight possibility. It would keep the media at VR while Jerry parades candidates to replace him. Keeping Garrett will only make Dallas an also ran that even Werder won't cover.............

Unreal if we fall right back into our Aikman situation!

Can we not learn from our history?? If we have a top 5 pick and a QB with a stud capabilities is in our lap we cannot pass!!

I dont think the first two QB's dropp to us.
but Wentz will be there as it appears right now.
San Fran will jump over us and we assume the Browns
take one.

Johnny Football come on down, I'm not convinced that the Brownies will trade him though. It seems that the lockeroom loves him. If his last 3 games are productive they may just stick with him. As someone else said I think he is the perfect QB to learn from Romo.

If you don't have a QB, especially on a team as undercoached offensively as we are, then the rest of the supporting cast doesn't even matter.
Priority #1 this offseason is draft a QB or sign a QB who is in the 20-25 league rankings. Or just do both.
As long as we are stuck with Garrett and Romo is aging I think this year proves that we will need 2 guys that can play that position at all times because the 2nd guy will have to play in an offense that has 0 deception, or creativity.
Nothing but predictable tendencies for a backup here in Dallas so we have to find another guy.
Forget safety, forget WR, forget all of it. QB is priority #1.

I'm telling you the Jones's are using my advice and not paying me for it.

It won't happen but how about the #1 priority this off-season be to find a real GM that can find that "backup/replacement" QB to Romo?

it does sound like Stephen thinks there might not be a QB in the draft to replace Romo down the road, espeically when he says "back-up" QB.

According to Mickey Spagnola who interviewed Stephen Jones today, The backup Qb position will be the teams #1 priority in the offseason.

Don't be shocked if the Cowboys start dangling draft picks to get a backup qb they really want.
I have a feeling Johnny Football will be a Cowboy for like a 3rd or 4 th rd pick or something. If Stephen says it's the #1 priority I don't think they will be taking a chance that someone gets released, That sounds like they will be making some phone calls and being very proactive in getting a quality backup.

Thoughts?

This just goes to show you how stupid they are. If the #1 priority is to find a backup QB, then what they are really saying is that they know how fragile and old Romo is. And how there is a great possibility that he will get hurt and that they will need a backup.

So what they should really being saying is that their #1 priority will be Romo's successor.

Manziel has played one game in the past month and looked mediocre against the 49ers.

...but he hasn't done anything dumb (in public, at least) for like three weeks in a row. Doesn't he get credit for that? :)

This is what needs to happen. I'm hopeful in what he means by back up is eventually finding Romo's replacement as well.

Yah well hope is all you got. Because if Jones history is any indication he will look for a middle of the road replacement and avoid using a high pick on a QB.

Its just really said that we have to have a season like this for these morons to get a clue about the backup QB. Any fool could have told them that Weeden was a joke of a QB. Hell, they could have just watched the tape of him playing the last few years. Or looked at his record. Another wasted season because these bozos dont know how to run a football team. Pathetic. And its taking away from one of the big problems which is RB. They will probably just sign McFadden again to run the ball.
