The Cowboys are next to last in turnovers resulting in immediate TD's for the other team... which certainly affected the record.

In addition other turnovers... Like the one vs. GB at the beginning of the game was a massive swing in momentum.

We blocked a FG against Seattle. All we had to do was get a couple of 1st downs to ice the game. Instead, we ran 3 straight dives in the middle of the offensive line and punted the ball back to Seattle DARING them to win. This is familiar refrain....over and over and over again!

Exactly. Go one step further. It's time to realize Romo staying healthy for a whole season is not that likely anymore. I'd rather use resources in the draft to find who can play here for a decade than some run of the mill backup. There's not even enough quality starters in this league, much less backups to go around. The difference between Cassel and the best backup available is marginal.

If they are successful in the QB department this coming draft it would ease the pain of the season a bit for me. If they screw this draft up it just makes the season that much worse. It's a golden opportunity to improve our chances at the future QB department IMOP.

How about you find two competent safeties.

The Giants cut this guy today so maybe we could pick him for our run to the division title and playoffs . . . . . .

Agreed. Colts disaster 2011 season was kind of justified since it allowed them to transition from Peyton to Luck (even though he still has a lot to prove). Cowboys 1-15 was justified since it allowed them to get Aikman. And many other examples.

But since Aikman, this franchise has never drafted a QB worth anything. They kind of lucked into Romo. You can't depend on hitting on that scenario again. They have to address the QB situation this year if the pick is high.

Whoever wants a draftee to replace Romo without getting to sit behind him for 2 years is out of their minds. Whomever is selected will get a significant advantage in reading defenses. I want someone to sit for a couple of years to learn behind Romo.

So true. This awful AWEFUL season has got TO MEAN SOMETHING!! OH, the humility!
QB is now our elixir that will get us back on track.

NO LAD!!!
Do not fall for false riches. No more clowns to salvage a season. Think DRAFT
QB, RB, CORNER/SAFETY, MIDDLE LINE STUFFER.
Write it down. That has got to be the way out of this mess. You might agree with me next season when an old and creeky, brittle and injured Romo takes the field, mates. Right-o, laddies. Carry on

According to Mickey Spagnola who interviewed Stephen Jones today, The backup Qb position will be the teams #1 priority in the offseason.

Don't be shocked if the Cowboys start dangling draft picks to get a backup qb they really want.
I have a feeling Johnny Football will be a Cowboy for like a 3rd or 4 th rd pick or something. If Stephen says it's the #1 priority I don't think they will be taking a chance that someone gets released, That sounds like they will be making some phone calls and being very proactive in getting a quality backup.

Thoughts?

I cant help but feel Dallas (Jones) are too reactionary to be wildly successful. Football decisions are not linear. Sometimes you can't wait for problem to become a problem before addressing it. We have seen this repeatedly with this team: DT, DE, QB. They wait too long to upgrade and then play catch up with crucial cap and draft resources when hole develops. I wish every executive and coach on that team would spend off-season on learning the art of projection.

So you all believe that there is a quarterback in this upcoming draft that is worth a top 3 pick?

I don't and I am not on board for drafting a quarterback that early just to say we did. What good does it do to draft a quarterback that high with limited talent to learn behind Romo for a couple of years if that quarterback isn't worth a darn.

There are going to be options in free agency to upgrade our backup spot. We can even draft a quarterback in the middle rounds to see what they have, but if you are going to spend a top 3 or 5 pick on a quarterback you better make sure that the consensus between scouts and talent evaluators is that he is a sure thing. Of course with these players you never really know, but you can get a pretty good idea.

I also hope that we aren't seriously considering making a play for Manziel in the offseason. He is a waste of time.
