First thing the Jones need to do this offseason is Hire a Football Guy to Run the Team because Father and Son are Dumb and Dumber that's why this team has not seen a SB on 20 years !

True, but that's never going to happen, so wishing for it is fruitless.

This is what I don't get.

They had Weeden for 2 seasons, he even got all the first team reps when Romo sat out of Wednesday practice. So how in the hell can they watch the guy for 2 years, even practicing with the first team offense and he turns out to suck so bad?

None of our coaches or scouts noticed him sucking in practice?

He looked good in practice. That is why put our faith in him. But come game day he was a completely different player.

I agree. I'm all for rolling the dice Manziel. If the team is only looking for veterans, for sure. At least if Romo goes down, we'll either do really badly (and get a top pick) or do really well (and develop our future QB). Either way, we'd get some entertainment and none of this boring crap

I hope Manziel plays "ball out" the rest of the year, so that Cleveland is convinced that he is their future..........

I agree with Jones to a point.
This season is an example of back up failure.
Our defense would have played way better in fourth quarters
if they have not have been on the field so much and the back up
could have provided a little more scoring punch.
The back up was a big deal this season.
All those positions you correctly exampled a right on.

the defense was on the field way to long because they couldn't get off the field. If they hold the other team to 3 and outs, they wouldn't be so tired.

I was being a tad facetious there. its probably going to be a draft pick and a mid tier fa.

Like Matt Moore, Drew Stanton or someone like that.

Matt Moore, Stanton or someone like that?

What will make them any different than Weeden or Cassel in this offensive system?

They'll fix the backup qb, a year late. Ever notice how Jed and Jethro tend to be a step behind? Wonder what will pop up in 2016, and they say "hey we need to fix that in 2017."

Never ending cycle.

It's the plug the hole in the dam approach I've seen Alexander reference for years. They are reactive instead of proactive because neither is qualified for the position. They have no vision and don't even know what and how to build if they did.

I do agree. I think those two geniuses think this is just a case of Romo going down. If only that didn't happen all this hella talent would have led us somewhere. Seems to me we were heading for a rough season with or without Romo. The issues are many. Several areas of the roster need attention and if they don't get the next QB soon, we're right back to the Campo days.

Before long, you won't even know I was here.

Shut up, Bill. I'm not in the mood.

Sigh.

Always fixing last seasons problems with this FO. Then next season, new problems will arise and will spend the next off-season fixing those.

This is what people mean when they say this organization is reactive, not proactive.

It is what they do.

Put a finger in the dyke where the water is trickling out, or in some cases, gushing out. Ignore the cracks that are forming.

It happens every year.

This time last season, fix the pass rush. They signed Hardy, drafted Gregory, signed Collins. They said anyone can run behind this line, snapped their suspenders and said job well done.

They have simplistic thought processes.

They think like fans.

There are countless fans on this very site right now that think that all that went wrong was that Romo got injured.

Instead of making it a priority to find a backup QB they need to be looking for Romo's replacement.

I'm not saying we need to find someone who can replace him immediately but a smart franchise would definitely start the search for his successor. Whether that be next year or 2017.

The Cowboys aren't very bright so they'll spend next offseason combing through the scouting reports of guys like Ryan Mallett & Matt Moore. Then we'll be treated to quotes of Jerry waxing poetically about the liveliness of Mallett's arm.

Can't wait.

yeah no telling who the jones boys get for the bkup, these are the same guys who went out and got weeden, and then
brought in moore, but refuse to play him.

We will have better higher picks , but no telling who these guys draft or get in FA.
And Romo will be the starter next year, and the year after, and getting a young guy to develop is a joke, as they have never developed
a QB !
In fact QB's seem to play worse the longer they are with the cowboys.

Yeah. Romo has been declining every year since he got here.

Man I would love to pry Stafford from the Lions.

Look, mates. We'll be in contention with a number of teams for a blue-chip QB.
Titans won't need a QB. San Diego still believes Rivers has maybe 3 more years left. the Lions already have a slinger. The Browns now believe Johnny Looseball can play -- they won't be in the QB stakes.
The Dollphins have their Aggie QB. Now as I see it, the 49ers might be interested in a QB pick in the first round. That team will be our main competitor for a QB in the first round.

Just get the best QB in the 1st round Sir Jones and quit dragging your Italian-loafered feet.
A QB, Sir Jones, not a backup.

Well, at least Mallett is signed with Baltimore for 2016.
