Yes i read it.

And i still believe theres no way the Panthers would ever seriously consider trading Steve Smith.

They have a hard enough time getting fans to come to the games as it is...
If they trade Steve Smith...

That's why the carolinas have no business with an NFL franchise.

PANTHERS DONE WITH SMITH?
Posted by Mike Florio on August 4, 2008, 9:23 p.m.

In the wake of Friday’s troubling incident between receiver Steve Smith and cornerback Ken Lucas, the Panthers could be thinking about life without the talented-but-troubled wideout.

Matt Mosley of ESPN.com reports that there are “rumblings” out of Panthers camp that the team is fed up with Smith’s actions, and are at least considering the idea of trading him.

Mosley says that Smith has become a “divisive force” on the team: “One Panthers source said that several defensive backs were walking around after the recent incident saying that if management didn’t discipline Smith, they would.”

And Mosley, whose covers the NFC East for ESPN.com’s post-Hashmarks blog project, partially justifies his encroachment upon Pat Yasinskas’ NFC South turf by suggesting that the Cowboys could be Smith’s ultimate destination.

Other teams that would at least consider Smith include, in our view, the Eagles, Vikings, Bears, and Commanders.

Assuming that Smith wouldn’t want a new deal, his cap charge for 2008 is a very manageable $1.75 million. Because it’s after June 1, the Panthers wouldn’t take a cap hit for the move until 2009.

Smith currently is signed through 2012. His future salaries are $3.4 million 2009, $5.75 million in 2010, $7 million in 2011, and $7.75 million in 2012.

I really have to start my own NFL rumor site. Just surf the net, post other people's rumors/work, and charge for advertising and pop-ups.

Ok....interesting.

Not sure what to think here.

On the one hand, we've done a great job with reclaimation projects. TO is a major success story.

On the other hand, it seems like adding another volatile personality is asking for trouble.

Who is our anger management specialist? Could we hire round the clock bouncers for practice? Get-r-done Jerry.....:lmao2:

If Jerry can get Smith this team has no excuse not to win the SB.

The Packers just hired Ari Fleischer. Wonder if we can get G. Gordon Liddy for the anger management job?

I wouldn't say that w/ a team that went undefeated last year and is ticked as hell that it got knocked off in the S.B.

This seems like such a pipe dream. I refuse to let myself get excited at the possibility for now. Yes. For the first time ever on this board I am taking a wait n see approach. No excitement here (yet)...

yep, if the cowboys can get steve smith for a decent price, not break the bank in draft picks, or a player,

then the cowboys can be like the patriots last year, T O on one side, Witten down the middle, Steve Smith on the other side of T O, crayton or whomever in the slot when 3 wrs on the field, stretch the defense like the cheating patriots did, blow teams away

then the cowboys have the defense, especially with the CBs newman, henry and sometimes be put on the TE as a safety, adam jones, mike jenkins, evan olgesby, hamlin, then who can stop us on defense, too

Steve Smith would be dynamite stretching the field opposite T.O., especially with Witten & Felix working underneath.

But the Panther I covet is Julius Peppers. With his 4 sack season and the Panthers lack of a weakside pass rusher (Rucker retired) the time to get him is now.

Send the Panthers Greg Ellis (double digit pass rusher), Marcus Spears (real replacement for Kris Jenkins), Patrick Crayton (salary acceleration be damned) & Kyle Kosier/Pat McQuistan (Panthers in dire need of OL help), 2009 2nd rounder plus a 2010 2nd rounder (conditional) for:

Julius Peppers, Steve Smith & Toniu Fonoti (another Hudson Houck player)

Sounds like a lot, but Fox is in the hot seat, not only in danger of losing his job but he's losing control of his team to boot.

Julius Peppers opposite DeMarcus Ware AND Steve Smith opposite Terrell Owens. Hey if you are going to dream big, dream BIG!@!#$!!
:lmao2:

This ain't Madden.

im like blue star though, if the Lord whom knows what the cowboys need and dont need, he knows everything, I am going to play the wait and see approach, not get hyped up, if it happnes, fine more power for the cowboys, if not, cowboys will still be fine, just let the chips fall where they may.

Man, as much as I want Roy Williams, Steve Smith opposite TO stretching the field would be ill.

I agree but I HATE threads like this cause I'm going to get my hopes up for Smith to be brought here, and lined up opposite TO, and when it doesn't happen I'll be disappointed for a minute or two.

Blast me all you want. As I have stated year after year...I watch EVERY NFL game.

Smith is not as good as some think he is.

He takes plays off, he has the drops virus, he is an average at best blocker...

Take him and sacrifice an actual need for your team. Losing Glenn was nothing. I said last year prior to the injury the Glenn was more hype.

Smith is not as good as advertised.

I really hate idiot skin fans.

Glenn was better than any receiver you have.

Heck Glenn was better than the receiver your pathetic team just put in the hall of fame.

I was convinced you were and idiot before reading zrinkill's post.

You don't know Steve Smith's game. It's as simple as that.

You did hit one nail right on the head.......I WILL CONTINUE TO BLAST YOU!

Commanders suck. They have no shot to do anything anytime soon. J.Campbell blows and you're back to the QB drawing board in 2009.

How long would anger management classes take for this clown?

Also, such a scenario involving dallas would, um, take up an extra roster space and that means no Amendola. And you know what that means: The girls in the Zone would not put up with their heartthrob not making the squad. Either the rook or Austin Miles.
And I can't see Miles being shown the road over Amendola.

Dude, who are you to judge any NFL WR when all the skins have is a stable of CFL quality wideouts. Seriously.....you would wet your panties just to have Glenn or Smith drive through a McDonalds drive thru in D.C.
