Despite all the talk about our fantastic all-world Offensive Line, due to the great defenses they've been playing this month, so far they've given up 9 sacks and 3rd most holding penalties so far, according to Sturm.

Agreed.

The offensive line hasn't been stellar in about a month.

The bottom line is, if Dak starts slinging the ball down field, then they'll talk about he's not scoring enough. If he starts posting 38 point games, then he doesn't scramble fast enough, if he starts getting out of trouble, then he takes unnecessary sacks. It will NEVER be enough for the Romo crowd.
And anything Romo ever did was never enough for the Romo "haters"/"Dak lovers" either. It works both ways. You whine about Romo because you hated him and, in fact, said he couldn't read defenses. Now you whine about those that are doing the same thing you did, but they just happen to be critiquing the QB you like. All that said, it is completely foolish for anyone to tear down either of these QB's. Romo was/is a fine QB. Dak is/will be a fine QB. To tear either down shows ignorance or an agenda, IMO.

Excellent post. Tampa has an excellent defense. Russell Wilson scored 5 points against them and looked horrible whereas Dak looked like a Pro Bowler. And Dak admitted he got away from his usual game of taking what the defense gives him when he played against the Giants. A 3rd game against them would be interesting. It's hard to beat a team 3 times in the same year.

Yep.

I'm not seeing another Giant game as an automatic loss.

The Cowboys lost two games by a total of 4 points... Come'on.

1 thing about the playoffs is that thus far only the Giants have actually managed to make this work. Dak had a nice 'test drive' of the counter measures on Sunday night vs a defense that, from what I understand, was leading the NFL in pass defense over the previous 5 games.

Even if we do end up facing the Giants again in the playoffs, the fact that it's very likely we'll be playing them at home and Linehan has been working on these countermeasures makes me feel better about our chances in a 3rd meeting.

NFL is a team game. Vikings and Eagles made it work too but their offenses/our defense lost/won that matchup.

I have a problem with career chockers. By the 5th year, the writing was on the wall. This is Daks first year.

That Romo doll collection you have must be priceless.

And that stack you have of Vince Young, Byron Leftwich, Jake Plummer, Josh Freeman, Rex Grossman, RG3, Blake Bortles, David Carr, Elvis Grbac, Colin Kaepernick, Matt Flynn, and Brock Osweiler must be taking up a lot of space.

You know darn good and well the main reason we aren't scoring more is because our line continuously gets drive killing penalties.

And you should know that's because this offense produces no big plays whatsoever. Defenses LIKE OURS play bend-but-don't-break because of exactly that reason. Eventually, offenses make a mistake.

BS, this offense produces tons of big plays. They're just often called back for holding.

If you want to win in the playoffs, this is what needs to be fixed on offense. Not changing the QB.

Without these mind numbing mistakes, we beat the Giants and destroy the Bucs. Even with this allegedly sub-standard QB.

It's not an either or issue. QB play and OL play are in tandem. They gave Prescott time to throw pretty consistently and sacks don't factor into QB rating.

Tampa is small and fast on defense. Built for spread offenses. Terrible matchup against Dallas' massive offensive line.

I was under the impression that Tampa's defense was playing the best in the league during their 5-game winning streak. Arent they built to primarily stop the passing game since they play in the NFC South and have to face Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and Cam Newton twice a year? That makes Dak's great night against them even more impressive.

Actually, I think it has. Our QB is holding the ball forever, and teams are stacking the box. Big plays are there to be made, but the Cowboys aren't making them.

Again these issues are not either or. Holds at the poa serve to spring big plays.
That's a fair point, but the penalties by the oline have been the single biggest issue with this offense over the last few weeks. Period.

The line is great, and they do good work, but the costly penalties by them lately have been out of hand for how good they are.

Incidentally, watch what T Fred did on this play. Amazed it wasn't called back.

What'd he do? I just saw him run out to the sidelines, latch on to a DB and drive him out of bounds
