And how are they gonna compete? In practice, where the defense doesn't hit? Or in preseason. When teams go vanilla in offense/defense. I myself think Dak would win. He'll have much better knowledge of the offense and more confidence in his game.

Gee, how has any team ever had any player at any position compete?

With this kind of thinking, Matt Flynn would have been the starter in Seattle.

It's a loser mentality. If the Cowboys don't favor competition and like to just grant jobs to players before the offseason even begins, then it's not a surprise that they haven't been to a Championship game in over 20 years.

I've been on the side of treating Romo with the respect a top employee deserves. But I also understand that life isn't fair and if he wants to pass up a $14 million payday because he can't be the starter, he can retire. I wouldn't just let him go. At least not yet.

As for the starter, it's Dak's team until he proves otherwise from here on out.

There were no credible sources saying Cowboys were going to release Romo.

Mickey says there are 3 sides playing poker, Cowboys, Romo, and interested teams. And says Romo is stirring the pot from both sides. Says Romo goodbye speech was suggesting he had some place to go but views this as trying to drum up interest for himself.

Rob says he think Romo would rather retire then be Daks backup.

Speaking to Jerry on the bus at the combine, never got the feeling he was going to release Romo at the start of FA.

Jerry Quote on Romo situation at the combine
"We are in a situation in indy where we need to see some things happen. We need to read some tea leaves. We dont need to be overtly doing something, We dont need to that for cap room, we dont need to do that for anything."

He said back then that march 9th was never a self imposed deadline for Romo but nobody listened.

He's not going to start in Dallas.

Theres no hurry to get anything done with Romo.

Listen to what Jerry is saying, because when they mention sources, Jerry is usually the source.

Romo is not retiring. Think its easy to write a check back to the Cowboys for 10million Dollars?

Team seems to want kellen Moore on the Team because even SJ said we see us having Moore and Vet or Moore and a Rookie.

Like or not this is good business Dallas is doing.
Was this a velied late Happy Pi Day post?

I think that's what most people think. I definitely was sick of the coverage last year, too. But there's a difference between the media coverage and the effect it has on the team, and I don't think the team was nearly as affected by the two great QB options as people believe. I think these guys both know they can both play. Both are team-first guys, they seem to like each other. I know conventional wisdom is to avoid the QB controversy at all costs, but Tony and Dak are both fairly unique people. I think it's a bit crazy to consider, but I don't think it's impossible that it could work for one more season.

And really, that's the only point we need to be able to make: that it's not impossible that it could work for one more season. We're not paying too much for the QB position as a whole. We've got two team-first guys, and we're willing to sit tight unless somebody makes a real offer. There is no need for a fire sale. If that's believable, we're in a much better position than if it's not. And for whatever reason, the press keeps suggesting its more likely we'll dump Romo for nothing than it is that we'll keep two very good QBs on the roster another year. Just like with the rumor that we were going to release Tony at the start of FA, I'm not sure the press is right.

I hear you, and in an ideal world that could work, due to the players attitudes.

I don't think an even competition could be conducted however, because I think the offense needs to be tweaked for each player. So if we know Dak is the starter, then Linehan can work on focusing the offense on him, some planned runs and roll outs that wouldn't be a good idea for Romo and his health. For Dak, less emphasis on deeper routes and more getting guys in intermediate space. So if it was an even competition, you'd have two different offensive looks rotating in camp, which I think doesn't help the rest of the offensive players. I think we need to pick the QB to shape the offseason around before it starts, and if it's Dak, I don't believe Romo wants to stick around for that for even a year as backup.

I was cringing through the first 10 minutes of that episode listening to Spags trying to set-up counter arguments to arguments that weren't even being made. He's such a little rodent.

"And that's my point!" - Mickey "Shill Daddy" Spagnola
For once, I'd love for Rob to say: "No, Mick. You have no point."

Yeah, This is the 1st time I've ever heard Mickey calling out Romo. Mick is Team Dak all the way and said where else would a old backup go to start? If you're not all about being a Cowboy Mickey will trash you on the way out.

we could have beaten GB, all linehan had to do was follow what me and everyone who has watched the cowboys said "dont get cute" what does he do, gets cute. Even Dak and EE knew this. stick to what wins for us. we failed miserably and it costed those two players who were playing with heart and soul a trip to the Championship game their rookie years which they deserved. Screwed by the only coaches who see victory and run away.
seems like Dallas couldve beat Gb if the ref looking at the play wouldve done his job and threw the flag on irving being bear hugged by 2 gb OL

No one is stopping you from posting silly thoughts like, Dak knows the offense better than Romo. Just know you will be laughed at.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz . Dak knows how to complete 67.8% of his passes with only 4 ints.

Romo knows the game and the offense at a level that Dak won't achieve for many years, if ever. Very few QBs achieve this Jedi status. If health isn't a concern, this is even a competition.

But health is a concern. Hence, where we are. Scrambling ability? Brady and Peyton couldn't outrun Jerry Jones, and they have the last two titles. It's a benefit, but hardly the magic bean.

The team is about the future now. This upcoming season isn't their real focus. In Houston, it is, which is why they need to get off their butt and do something before they screw this up.
Dak basically equaled the best yr Romo had in his career as a rookie. And he did something Romo never could. Win without Dez, and win without his LT

And its got nothing with Dak being a better QB then Romo because he's not at this point. Its his ability to play within the teams system, and taking what the defense gives him. Trusting his guys will do their jobs.

Its funny how Dak never had a problem with Beasley TW or Butler knowing their assignments when Dez was out. But with romo there was always miscommunication when his #1 wasnt on the field. Wether that be Dez or any other lead WR he had during his time in Dallas

Romo will be released. They can do it today or 3 months from now but he will be released. No one is going to trade for a qb that the team can't keep. They will just wait it out. Keeping romo as a back up is not an option. No way he sits quietly by and does that. He will be out there demanding a trade every week or telling everyone that the best qb on the team is the back up and he would be right. Huge distraction if they force him to stay. They decided dak was the guy so now they have to move romo. Every team knows it and every team interested will just wait until it happens. All this other stuff is just stupid. Release him already and move on.

The best qb when he played in 2014.

Like I said, Jerry didn't get to be a billionaire being stupid.

The Texans overplayed their hand. They want Romo and will swoop him up if we release him. They really want to roll with Savage to start the season? :lmao:
Jerry's not letting Romo go for free. A deal is going to happen if we wait long enough. It will either get done during the draft (swapping picks 20 for 28, maybe even swapping picks in the second round) or we'll get a fourth or maybe even a third.

But we'll get something ... I think. I hope.

Pretty much how I feel.
