I haven't read the responses to this article so I don't know what's been said. But all I have to said is what I've been saying for ages.

He wears the Star, the Uniform, he's a Dallas Cowboy. :starspin

So did Harold "real Cowboy" Carmichael.

I remembered a catch Harold made for the Cowboys. I went to look at the number of receptions he made for us and that was the only one.

As poor as my memory is these days I was terribly pleased with myself even though I didn't remember that was his only one as a Cowboy.

I have been a Cowboys fan since 1966 - 67.

I have seen criminal elements such as the likes of Hollywood Henderson, Michael Irvin and Nate Newton, Goodrich, Q Carter, etc.

I have seen problem players and malcontents such as Duane Thomas & Charles Haley, Underwood, etc.

I have seen some with impecable integrity such as Roger Staubach, Tom Landry, Calvin Hill, Moose, Chad Hennings, Lilly, Herschel Walker etc.

And I have seen everything in between.

Owens is not the worst, nor is the best, ... he is somewhere in between.

So having him here is no big deal either way for me.

I was a Cowboys fan long before he got here, .. he hasn't done anything since he got here that has been a big deal to me, .. and I will be a Cowboys fan long after he leaves.

It tickles me to see some here think that they get to decide whether he is a Cowboy or not.

Last time I looked, he has a star on his helmet, he has his own locker at VR, he is in the Cowboys record books, he is in the Cowboys team picture, he travels with the team to away games, ... guess what, .. he is a Cowboy.

Being as though we didn't draft him, and he came here late in his career, I dont know if I'll remember him as a real cowboy. Now if we win a title with him, I'll probably change my mind. But so far, I remember him as being a guy who made alot of plays, but also dropped some key passes last season. That being said, I don't put his drops as the reason we couldn't do more last year. Id say taht has to go with a defense that lets the Lions put up 30+ points WITH THE DIVISION STILL ON THE LINE!

Whether we agree that Owens will (forever) be considered a Cowboy or not, there is one certainty which is almost unquestionable. His time as a Dallas Cowboy will not be easily forgotten by anyone, if ever.

Lord willing, I'll certainly be talking to my great-grandchildren about Owens. ;) Heaven only knows that my children and grandchildren have heard me talk enough about him over the years.

that brings up an interesting question

after TO moves on, if he stays the full 3 years, will be considered a real Cowboy? IMO, probably not, as he probably won't embodie the Dallas Cowboys, but for now, I consider him a 'real' Cowboy, because donning the uniform is as real as it gets

In the grand scheme of things of course you're right. But fans are what makes any team worth what they are. Without rabid fans who make a silly game become so important to them, the NFL is not what it is.

So yeah, the fans get to say who the 'real' Cowboys are even when they know they actually don't make any 'real' decisions..

It's just a fan forum. We know we're not the Supreme Court. But it's good to be reminded.

Does he own a ranch with cows and horses? A felt hat for winter, and a straw for summer? Boots for dancing, and for working? A pickup truck that isn't just a fancy paint job?

Does he listen to country music? Go to rodeos? Watch the Western Movie Channel all night long?

Is his handhsake as good as a written contract? Does he tip his hat to the ladies as he walks by?

Does he insist on wheel guns and lever actions as opposed to clips and bolt actions? Does he get up with the chickens and go down with the sun?

Does he know what bag balm and latigo are and what they are used for?

If not, then he isn't a real Cowboy, but to determine if he is a Dallas Cowboy you only need to look at the uniform he wears and if that isn't enough for you check out the Cowboys web site and see if his name is on the roster.

Yeah well let's hope TO doesn't do anything else to make a mockery out of a very fine tradition. Personally I don't think he will.

And I haven't seen a real cowboy since I left Texas, Hos.

Mock all you want. My heroes are Cowboys and TO ain't never going to be my hero.

You guys can have last word.

Someone earlier said Glenn was a more consistant 3rd down WR..i beg to differ, Crayton is our most effective 3rd down Wr.

How does Crayton being more reliable mean that Glenn isn't as well?

I don't get that.

Get over it... He makes the Cowboys better. Bottom line, this is all about winning a championship and this team has a better chance of winning one with TO on the field.

I love me some TO...
