Which was more reprehensible?

One ended in momentary disappointment and anger, the other in 4 years of disappointment and anger

You decide

Even though he stood on the Cowboy's Star in the middle of the field with open arms as a 49er, and again in the endzone in Philadelphia, I must applaud those who have the forgiving attitude to still call TO a true Cowboy.

While that must have been a difficult decision for some of you, ...I'm just glad he isn't an Eagle.

Ok... here we go again... you KNOW you regret him NOT being an EAGLE anymore... look at your Eagles team... McNabb is being exposed and soon to be replaced...

You guys had a chance to get maybe 2 SB's in that window AFTER getting Owens(lets not even mention the same window that was open before Owens)

You can "facade" it all you want... you guys brought Owens in to put you over the top and it almost worked EXCEPT that McNabb couldnt play nice in the sandbox.

Your posts are so fraudulent. Seriously.

Get over it... He makes the Cowboys better. Bottom line, this is all about winning a championship and this team has a better chance of winning one with TO on the field.

I love me some TO...

Your posts to me are getting more and more obnoxious.
I'll ask you nicely to not tell me to get over anything. I'll respect your opinions without ridicule or mocking. How about you doing the same.

I think he's a tremendous WR. But he'll never be a true Cowboy to me. He stood on the star. I'll root for him but I won't ever forget that. He's a rent-a-star.

That about sums it up.

Owens is another Deion Sanders...Big name, Flashy, sells tickets (but not to me) and may help the team while he is here but he is just a hired gun...not a Cowboy...never will be.

I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but this whole standing on the star deal is way past ridiculous. What really is the big deal? The 49ers and Cowboys were bitter rivals at the time; Owens saw an opportunity to slap us in the face. That is what rivals do...it wouldn't be a rivalry if everyone played nice. But let's reverse the roles for argument sake. What if Michael Irvin, after catching a touchdown in the championship game against the 49ers in Candlestick Park ran to their center field and did the exact same thing Owens did. Would you disown him as a fan, or would you continue to support him?

The fans care much more about this mythical symbol than the players or even organization do.

Owens did that because he could. I was more upset at our team and embarassed for them because there wasn't anything we could do about it.

And yes, that is what rivals do. Harvey Martin once threw a wreath in the Commanders lockerroom. Crazy Ray used to take Commanders pennants and wipe his face with them. Were those acts of "desecration"?

Not just sport fans but people in general. Like how some people get mad when someone burns the American flag or urinates on a cross. They are just symbols but people hold those symbols close. It appeared George Teague took it personal as did Emmitt Smith

I can understand truly "holy" items. Even the flag. But a team logo?

Someone spiking a football on a team logo is nothing like the two examples you put out there, but it is utterly ridiculous when I see people use "desecration" to describe it.

It is not that vile.

As for Teague, he should have been more offended that he and his fellow teammates in the secondary were being humiliated. And in the heat of the moment, he reacted appropriately. But years later, he's one of the few holding a grudge, probably because it is one of the few things his tenure as a Cowboy will be remembered for. Emmitt Smith let it go. Does that make Emmitt less of a "true Cowboy" because he could handle Owens "donning the star"?

You may see a difference some people don't see that. Myself I don't hold the star incident as the reason I don't like TO there are many other reason why I am no fan of his but I do understand why some hold the incident against him. I think years back in the old NFL TO would have gotten is butt kicked for doing that. Times have changed.

I'll add to the last part of your comment, I'm sure Teague was upset about teammates giving up the play to start with but no one likes an opposing team rubbing your face in it. Even the 9'ers coach was outraged by it and handed TO a 1 game suspention for doing it. This may be pro sports but some still believe in a sense of sportsmanship and find TO action that day as classless.

I'm a fan, I don't care.

What he did to us on Monday night football while playing for the Eagles in '04 hurt me way more than standing on the star.

Then those people take what is a game way too seriously.

The players have a vested interest. It is their job. And many of them let it go. But some fan can't? It doesn't make any sense.

Correct. Teague was more upset because he was showed up and embarrassed on his own field and Owens decided to rub it in. The 'desecration' of the star and him 'defending it's honor' was just a cop out for his mediocrity in coverage.

Absolutely not.

I am sure what was running through his head at the time was that he was doing that for all the great heritage of "the star" and was committing an act of a "true Cowboy" for every Cowboy fan, everywhere.

Remember when Phoneix Talon told us how embarassed he was as an Eagles fan and how mad and embarassed Reid and the organization was when Owens did that against us.

:laugh2: :laugh1: :lmao2: :lmao:

We had to remind him that, "you are a fraud, he wasn't playing for the Eagles when that happened!"

What a moron PT has turned out to be !!!

Ok for you it makes no sense to others it does. Each to their own, what interest do you have in how someone else feels?
