This is what happens when you don't have a playoff.

I think TCU could beat just about anyone if it comes down to 1 game.

The question I have about TCU is could they run the table against a Big Conference schedule.

With the way College Football is set up the team in the best conference that runs the table will get the nod.

To me though its all dumb and everything needs to be decided on the field.

That being said... Go Texas! They are going to be in the underdog role and nobody is a better underdog team in College Football than Texas.

There is a lot of matchups in the Bama vs Texas game but this game will be won in the trenches for sure. Especially the Texas Oline vs the Bama D line.

Texas thought Nebraska had a good defense? Well they haven't seen nothin like Bamas.

TCU would kill texas

You dont know that, no one does.

I will say, IMO, the one team that has the best chance at beating Texas is TCU. I believe that TCU is the most complete football team in the nation. Now, I am not sure if their schedule has anything to do with that or not. Still, they are quite impressive.

I have wanted UT vs Bama since last season. Now I got my wish.....but a part of me wanted Bama to slip up so I could get UT vs TCU.

1: Suh is the best player in the country and it isnt close. That guy is beyond incredible. He'll be as sure a pick in the draft as there has ever been.

2: Nebraska's offense is one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen. I know Texas has a good defense, but 106 yards of TOTAL offense in a conference title game? The A&M game must have really pissed Texas' defense off.

3: Once again, every single significant break went Texas' way. Call it skill if you want, but Texas backed into this win. Nebraska went full ****** in the final minute.

4: Neither Tebow nor McCoy has any business winning the Heisman. It'll likely go to Ingram, but I'd love to see Gerhart win it. I really hate that the Heisman has turned into the award for being the best QB or RB on a top 3 team. Like I said earlier, if we're going by best player, Suh should win it.

5: Texas is going to get POUNDED by 'Bama unless they fix something over the next month. That offense has had trouble against competent defenses all year and they are about to face the best unit they have ever seen. 'Bama's offense won't rollover and play dead liek Nebraska's did.

6: This year is proof that we need a playoff system, because the best team in country may not reside in either Austin or Tuscaloosa, but in Fort Worth. I hate that TCU won't get a chance to prove themselves even after dismantling everything placed in their path this year. Cincy also deserves a shot IMO.

I disagree. Goodwin wasnt down at the 1. He never had control of that kickoff. He didnt get control until he was on his feet again. On that same drive, with the Horns eating clock and driving for a FG to basically ice the game, Buckner has the ball stripped away. Nebraska takes that turnover and turns it into 3. In fact, Nebraska scored 9 points on turnovers.....those are significant breaks.

The most significant break of all, not 1 holding call on the Husker OL, when they were doing it all night long.

Texas did get its fair share of breaks, but so did the Huskers.

last year Colt had Shipley and Cosby....two consistent threats all year long. The OL was also much better.

this year all he has is Shipley. none of the other receiving threats have truly stepped up on a consistent basis. they continue to try to get kirkendall and williams involved, but those guys drop too many easy and critical passes. Goodwin is a freshman and still learning the WR position. This OL sucks. They are letting Colt get pounded a lot this season.

Both seasons, the Horns have struggled running the ball. I blame Greg Davis and his scheme. They have a buttload of talented backs, and yet they can't run. Get in a power running formation, like they had with Ricky and Cedric.....then run the ball down the opponents' throats.

I disagree. I think Nebraska's defensive front is better than Alabama's. Alabama doesn't have anything like Nebraska's Ndumakong Suh. Someone with a top 3 pick is getting one hell of a player next year.

Cody isn't that bad. But Bamas LBs and Secondary are better than Nebraska's. That's a big difference between this years Bama and last years Bama they are physical everywhere and they flustered Tebow and co a very physical offense with that physical style. Texas hasn't played anyone near as physical as Bama.

1) I love college football but I continue to hate the system. While 1-AA has started their playoffs and are down to the final four, the big schools have the same clustermess we see year after year. What a novel idea... settling a championship on the field...

2) I have never seen such horrible clock mismanagement before at this level in my life from a team that actually still had a timeout left. Colt McCoy was about 1 second away from the biggest choke job of the season. And all his post game "I knew how much time there was left" bravado is just a load of crap. He had no clue how much time was left in the game (and neither did the coach). He was looking at the play clock and ignoring the game clock.

3) They were also stupid to not really try to advance the ball any further once they got inside the 30. That's still a pretty long FG.

4) I don't think you could find anyone who doesn't believe Alabama deserves to go the title game. But after them, you really have 4 worthy contenders:

4a) The most impressive victory belongs to Boise State, having handed #7 Oregon their only loss.

4b) The overall toughest schedule belongs to Cincinnati.

4c) Texas has only 1 win over a top-25 team (using the final standings). If they were any other team but "Texas" then they'd be on the outside looking in. The only reason they are getting the nod is because they started the season #2, whereas Cincy was unranked.

4d) Despite all the above, I think TCU is arguably playing better top to bottom than any of the other 3.

5) I just don't see any way Texas beats Alabama. Imagine them playing a team with a defense as tough as last night but with an offense that is not made up of junior high caliber players.

Suh made himself a little bit of money last night, not that he was exactly hurting going into the game. He may very well have played his way into the top overall pick in the draft.

they guy was beating double and triple teams all night long. Colt never had time to set his feet and throw. he was shellshocked from the get go. i am sorry but to bash Colt for last night is lame. his OL got used and abused.

i doubt there is a QB in college who could have kicked butt under that kind pressure. The Huskers D owned the trenches and blew up the backfield. Colts teammates were dropping passes when he was able to get the ball out. The running game did ok, when they committed to it, unfortunately Davis acts like Andy Reid when it comes to the running game.

The only criticism I have for Colt is the way he handled the final 50 seconds of the game. I cannot believe the pressure Nebraska was getting consistently on the QB with just 4 lineman and dropping 7 into coverage.

There was one play late in the 3rd quarter (early in the 4th?) where Nebraska blitzed and McCoy beat them with a 15-20 yard sideline throw. I was thinking how stupid it was to blitz him and let him hit a quick read against light coverage. I don't think Nebraska made that same mistake for the rest of the game.

Mack Brown seems like a very nice guy and is a great recruiter, but when it comes to actual coaching, there's just an ocean of difference between him and the guy who's going t be across the field from him in the Nat Champ game.

Giving Saban a month to prepare for a game is almost not fair.
Seriously?? What in the world would make you say that, given Alabama's performance against Utah last year?

I agree about Suh but the overall Alabama line is better.

Dude you need to relax. I don't hate anybody. I follow college football with a purely gambling interest in mind and I never let emotion cloud my judgement.

I just calls 'em as I sees 'em. You don't need to act like a 5 year old just because somebody happens to think your team isn't all that great. And will get whupped next month. And will finish the season behind 1 or 2 of the other teams I just mentioned.

Say what you must about the the deficiencies in the Longhorns' play against Nebraska, but at least acknowledge they found a way to win a close, physical game. I wish our Cowboys would learn that skill.

I was at the game..Got home a few hours ago. Wow. Don't really know what to say.

As for the MNC matchup, for anyone that thinks Alabama is a lock, remember that hardly anyone thought Nebraska could beat Texas. I think it will be a good game.

Yes Alabama, like every single other team including the Longhorns, got lucky and won a close game that could have gone either way. What's your point?

Did you actually watch the game last night? I think as a Texas fan, you probably shouldn't be thumping your chests quite as loudly as you seem intent on doing.

BTW, I notice you call me a hater but at the same time you can't point out a single thing in my post I said which is actually incorrect.

my point is that your saying texas will get destroyed, and your evidence is one game which happened to be the last game. Alabama had a bad game too and thats my proof
