That's what they said in 2005...
Texas had several good running backs and a great run game and a QB that could run and pass pretty good. Alabama is on a completely different planet physically from what Texas has seen in recent years.

Please don't confuse Pete Carrol w/ Nick Saban. That is a travesty and I think you know that. :laugh2: You also don't have a Vince Young on the team this year.

No offense to Texas but I think Alabama is going to give them everything they can handle.

This Alabama team is nowhere near as talented as the 2005 USC squad, whom ESPN deemed "the greatest team in the history of college football" prior to the championship game.

Wow, what a total choke job by Nebraska. Kick the ball out of bounds and then horse collar the receiver. Talk about giving a game away.

As for Texas, Colt just lost the Heisman tonight with his 3 pick performance. Engram for Bama is going to run away with the Heisman now, will not even be close. Texas should of lost tonight, they just got real lucky that Nebraska choked like a dog on that final drive.

I think both Colt and Tebow showed today that neither one is a franchise QB. I will be shocked if either guy is drafted in the 1st round, seriously. The first pick overall should be Suh, the guy is a freaking beast!!!!

So we end the year with 4 undefeated teams, that is why we need a playoff system. However, we all know that aint happenning so we are stuck with the BCS and the NC game will be Alabama and Texas.

Prediction.........I know this may get all the UT guys upset, but the UT team I watched tonight losses by 4 TDs to Bama.

That 2005 UT squad would chew this 2009 UT squad up and spit it out and ask for change back.

Are you serious? did you watch the game tonight? The UT OL was completely abused by the Nebraska DL. It is kind of hard to play QB when you have DL in your face before your receivers can even complete their routes.

Yes Colt played poorly, but much of this was due to the intense pressure from the Nebraska D. The last INT was on Buckner. Kirkendall dropped a potential breakaway TD. There were a few other drops. Honestly my biggest issues with Colt were his time management on the last drive (way out of character for him) and taking the sacks instead of throwing the ball away on 3 occasions when he had the opportunity to do so.

Instead of bashing Colt, I can do nothing but praise the Nebraska D. They were out of their minds tonight.

I watched every play of the game and the fact of the matter is that Colt had a 3 pick game. Now you can say it was due to pressure or you can say it was the reciever's fault all you want..........doesnt change Colt's stat line.

The fact of the matter is that in Conference Championship Games, you have to impress if you are a Heisman hopefull. You cant throw multiple picks and expect to walk away with the trophy. Engram came to play today and put on a show for the voters against the #1 ranked defense in Div 1.

I know you are a big UT fan, but the fact is Colt lost the Heisman tonight. Doesnt matter if it was the reciever's fault or protection issues, ect. To win a Heisman you have to make plays, not excuses.

Fool you on what? I'm merely pointing out that, prior to both games, there was supposed to be a marked talent difference between Texas and its opponent.

Not saying that at all... I'm just saying there is enough talent on this UT team to make it a game...

May the best team win...

Not according to the history of this rivalry since they both joined the Big 12...

1996 37-27 (Texas) - Big 12 Champ Game
1998 20-16 (Texas)
1999 24-20 (Texas)
1999 22-6 (Nebraska) Big 12 Champ Game
2002 27-24 (Texas)
2003 31-7 (Texas)
2006 22-20 (Texas)
2007 28-25 (Texas)
2009 13-12 (Texas) Big 12 Champ Game

Texas is 8-1 vs Nebraska since the Big 12 formed. Only twice have the games been somewhat blowouts (bold)

As a Texas homer, my heart says Texas should dominate the Huskers.....but my mind says, no way. It will be a dogfight almost every single time.

Also, my concerns about the Texas OL and their poor blocking this year were realized tonight. Suh and the blackshirts dominated the LOS. In fact, both DLs dominated the LOS. Neither offense could get in sync or find any sort of rhythm.

One last thing, Nebraska was ranked 22 in the nation, so it isn't like they were a pushover. They choked away the Virginia Tech and Iowa St. games or else they would have been ranked probably in the top 10 before tonight's game.

History teaches you what not to do if you do not wish to repeat it. It doesn't tell you what WILL happen. Just like the Cowboys and December doesn't tell you they will always die in December. Each year is a new year.

That said. The Longhorns have both a great defense and a very good offense. Nebraska on the other hand has a great defense, but a piss poor offense. They scored 4 field goals. Why? Turnovers and a breakdown on special teams. Of Texas offense (Colt McCoy) doesn't choke, Texas throttles Nebraska.

McCoy didn't choke. He drove his team to the game-winning score. Deal with it.

Alabama had to block a field goal to win a game this year, they don't deserve to go either..Cincy vs TCU winner gets Boise State.

Cincy has a great offense, but they lack a dominating defense. Defense wins championships. If TCU plays Cincy, I suspect TCU will put a hurting on Cincy. TCU won't have a problem scoring. (probably rushing the ball consuming clock) then Cincy won't have much time for that potent offense.

Give me TCU by at least 14.

As for Boise State. I'm a fan. If TCU doesn't play Florida, then they should play Cincy. Otherwise, I want TCU vs Florida (if not Alabama) and Cincy vs Boise State. (Cincy will lose IMO)

its gonna be really annoying to hear all the non UT people talk about how we will get destroyed in the championship game, but its gonna be that much sweeter once we beat them!

He thew 3 INTs (2 of them his fault) He as the commander of the offense produced 209 yards of offense. I'm sorry, I'm a Longhorns fan, but he choked.

i wasnt arguing about the Heisman, I know he lost that tonight. Suh might have put himself on a plane to NY.

I am arguing that Colt isnt a franchise QB. I think he can be, especially for a team that runs the WCO or spread offense. He just had a rough game against a great defense...it happens to a lot of great QBs.

The Heisman will go to Ingram, though IMO, Gerhart or Suh should win it.

I am hoping Ingram wins it and Colt comes in second.....the last time a Longhorn came in 2nd in the Heisman and played for the National Championship against the Heisman winner, the Horns won.....BTW, that game was also played in Pasadena.

Texas doesnt commit to the run, cause of Greg Davis and that sissy OL. The DL for Nebraska made it very difficult for Colt to get into a rhythm. Colt didn't choke. He just didn't play well cause of the excellent play by the Husker D.

Colt McCoy found a way to win despite a myriad of obstacles. That's the very antithesis of a "choker." Furthermore, only one of the INTs was Colt's fault.

And you're more a bitter TCU fan than a Longhorn fan.:D

I was impressed with the Tide offense today. They were able to pass the ball all game long. Today was one of the few games that they have not been one dimensional on offense.

Of course it helps when the Gators are missing their top DL and their top LB is hurting.

Still, the Alabama OL is probably the best in the nation. They just maul opposing DLs. It is insane how physical and dominant they are.

All of this being said, IMO, the most complete team in the nation is TCU. They can pass you to death, run it down your throat, and smother you with their stifling defense.

The one team I fear the most is TCU.
