Thank god we didn't draft Bosa

If I'm the Chargers front office, I do not offer him ANYTHING else. He can take that great deal or sit out a year without any pay. It would cost him a full year's pay AND his draft status would fall next year because it will be a much better draft than this year's draft. Let's face it, this year's draft wasn't great, especially from a DL perspective. Plus, he would be a year older and would've already shown a tendency to be a ******.

The Chargers history can't be erased with this clear attempt to win a PR battle. Sorry Chargers, no one forgets the fact that your franchise QB had to hold out as a rookie as well. That Eli Manning refused to deal with Spanos and crew.

Embarrassing that a team felt they had to openly discuss contract terms via a press release when most teams admonish players for doing so via the media.

Bosa would have been signed by nearly every team in the League except the Chargers, Cardinals and Bengals. Known cheap owners.
If you do a little research, you'd see that the Chargers are offering Bosa a great deal. There's only 2-3 first round draft picks this year that do NOT have the offset language in their contracts. Plus, he's being offered the second most first year money of all the draft picks. I hope this comes back to bite him in the *** big time.

To be fair... all the top 3 picks have either offset language OR deferred signing bonus...SD wants both and they do that for every contract including Rivers and Gates.....they won't bend for a rookie
They've offered him 85% of his signing bonus with only 15% deferred to next March. That should not keep him from signing.

So they both have bonuses deferred until March 2017? Please give a link because I don't see that anywhere.
Yes, Elliott has over $6Mil deferred to next year. Also, SD has offered Bosa 85% of his signing bonus now.

IIRC, this is all the Chargers' fault, not Bosa.

Despite what they're offering him now, he probably doesn't want to play for them at all. They have a long history of disrespecting players with lowball contracts and offsetting language.
If true, he can sit out and lose a year's pay that he will NEVER recoup and go back into the draft where he will be picked lower next year and receive a smaller contract. If that's what he wants to do, he can have at it.

SD has just officially pulled their offer and any new offer will reflect the time missed....it's on for sure

They cannot figure out if they want o play hardball or not.

They lost their 3rd overall pick with their hardball tactics.

I get there is a CBA but a man should not be compelled to work where he does not want.

He doesn't have to work in San Diego. He can ride a garbage truck if he so desires. Every other NFL player has to honor the draft, like all other professional athletes playing team sports. He's a whiner and I hope he gets his butt handed to him.

It's always amazing to me how many people that are clearly workers themselves empathize with the owner as opposed to the worker in these things.

His family is independently wealthy. He can return to OSU finish his degree and work out with Urban Meyer. They love him in Ohio. He can then re-enter the draft next year. You can hope he falls to the third round but this is exactly the type of player jerry loves to get.

It's amazing to me how many athletes (or celebrities) whine about how badly they're treated when they're paid millions to play a game. Yes, it's a physical debilitating sport, but no one forces them to play. Bosa has been offered a great deal that's more than fair. I hope he sits out the year and finds out how huge of a mistake it was. However, he won't do that. He'll eventually sign. I just hope the Chargers do not budge any further.

Perfect post. This kid is a door jam. I screamed it from the highest mountain top leading up to the draft. MOST in here didn't want him and I simply knew from living in the Midwest and watching a LOT of OSU games that he was vastly overrated. Plus, the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. (see what I did there?) His Daddy was a screwball too.

Can you see Jerry taking yet another risk and drafting him a round ahead of whatever round he goes into next years draft projected at?

Bosa could very well be elite and worth that gamble, maybe even a better gamble than Jaylon was this year, but the fact is we did draft Jaylon. And Gregory. And Lawrence. All mid to high risks, for various reasons.

Maybe Jerry holds off now, by not taking him in, say, the late first or second round.

Spanos is a billionaire and he is the whining to the press. Bosa has made no statements. This is what I am talking about empathizing. You are eating up what the Chargers are selling.

Bosa is still being offered a contract with both a split signing bonus plus offset language. You can characterize it however you like but it still remains unprecedented for a third round pick.

The NFL is a monopoly. There is no place else to go in this country to play pro football. The moment you say go play in Canada you see the crux of the problem.

These yahoos are running a PR campaign to smear Bosa yet here are a bunch of yahoos claiming that Bosa is the primadonna.
