The main purpose of a commissioner is to issue punishments and manage disputes. That is literally his job. The owners are too biased and are often involved.
Then why did the players agree to that?
you brady homers are truly comicalSummary of the above poll of 100 NFL players
- Goodell SHOULD NOT BE sole arbiter in cases.
- Brady's suspension is over twice what it should be.
- The Patriots cheated, but it's not that big a deal with players...intent to injure is much more serious.
- Two out of three players think other teams also tamper with footballs like the Patriots.
- Nearly one out of three players think there are cheaters on their own team.
I'm not suggesting owners do this job
I am saying Goodell is not doing this function well at all
the pats cheated someday when one of the guys who was involved in this needs the cash he will come out with a tell all book. they also cheated in spy gate and got caught once you go around the rules no matter how minor the next time it comes easier. I personally think if the nfl don't make and hold to a stand on this it will reflect badly on them. you have to stand for something.
It's real easy to say there is no evidence when you destroy it and the other 2 conspirators take the blame and stay quiet.
Why were they fired if they didn't do anything? Why aren't they in court demanding justice?
The evidence they do have is pretty strong.
First, all of the NE balls were under inflated when tested.
Second they have video of the ball boy illegally taking the bag of early and unsupervised into the bathroom.
Third he calls himself the "Deflator" and demanded free, signed balls and sneakers from Brady.
Lastly there were several texts that were recovered before the phone was destroyed that showed a lot of conspiring.
The NFL’s actions are equally questionable, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a key difference: No one really cares what Roger Goodell and the NFL front office do. Sure, people say they do but it’s like in an election when voters say they’re evaluating foreign policy and school testing but are really voting whichever way Jon Stewart or Rush Limbaugh told them to. In reality, the ratings for Super Bowl 50 isn’t going to rise or fall based on what happens in that court room. The NFL is teflon. If it made it through the horrors of last year with Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson, some ginned up controversy like this is nothing.

Again. Only facts.
Two employees were fired for their involvement. Yet, the pats claim they did nothing wrong. No one in their organization did anything wrong.
It's simply a matter of "did you see Tom Brady deflate the balls? Did you hear tom and Belichick talk to employees about defeating balls.
Of course we did not. So they must be innocent. Except that they destroyed evidence. There is no way that Belichick didn't know about it. He supplies the air that these players breath. Everything is in his view.
SPYGATE evidence was destroyed by the nfl.
No matter how you slice it.
That is two black eyes.
I would seem to me these two guys were fired for discussing sabotaging the Patriots' game balls and showing a considerable amount of disrespect for the team's star quarterback.

Can you link me to that information?
I've seen a lot of people say the balls were not deflated (as the initial reports stated) or that physics explains any changes. I hadn't heard about texts like those. People keep pointing to John Dowd (who did the Pete Rose case I guess) and a site he started (deflategatefacts.com) saying the NFL has really botched this whole thing and there is no real evidence of anything. I've only done a cursory look at the site, so I don't know exactly what's on there, though it did seem like an odd thing for someone to create if they didn't have some sort of vested interest. It's why I asked posted previously asking if he was a Pats fan or had something against Goodell or the NFL for some reason.
Some of you will be open to this scenario - others will let their feelings get in the way of this potential reality. So here it is:
So do you come forward and risk Goodell give a felony for a traffic-type violation (Romo suspended for the playoffs), or do you say nothing?
- In this fall's playoffs, it's found the Cowboys' are guilty of some technicality.
- It should be a fine. Outside chance it could be a suspension, but for a regular season game next year. There has never been a suspension during a NFL playoff game.
- It concerns a key player (i.e. Romo, Witten.) To keep it simple, it's Romo.
- Goodell has been consistently inconsistent in his penalities, but tends towards being harsh, particularly on BountyGate.
Some of you will say Dallas would never be in a situation like this. I say if it's not already happened, it will.
