Maybe in the locker room, but Dez wants special treament (Emmitt and Deion style) from coaches and does not deserve it.
On the Jimmy Johnson scale he is Michael Irvin and he hasn't even stabbed anyone yet or smoked rock

Nobody on this team has delivered. Only the Super Bowl teams get that deodorant (Maybe Witten for his Hall of Fame type career).
Yes. Witten is the one Cowboy l feel pain for. Never received the 100 million dollars contracts but never once moaned or complained about anything. Gave 100% in every game and never caused any stupid drama ever. Heck, he must shake his head at some of the goings on in Dallas.

There's many fans in their 40s and 50s that love Dez. My old platoon sgt is a Dez fanatic, X. All or nothing statements do nothing for productive debate.
There is not anything "all or nothing" about my post that you just quoted.

Most people don't follow every tiny detail like many of us here at CZ. Even people here that try to follow are at a disadvantage if they don't live locally. Many things that happen will never be put into print.

I don't feel sorry for any of them......you make your own destinies.......Witten and Romo and others could have done better in 06, 07, 09, 14....they don't deserve anything anymore than Dak or EE deserve it

Then just say that, leave age at the door.
You'll understand what I mean eventually.

It works both ways. Older fans couldn't give Jerry the benefit of the doubt when he fired Landry... for many not even after 3 Super Bowl wins in Jerry's first 5 years.

I don't live locally but I listen to the fan everyday. Your statements may not be absolutes, but they're pretty damn close.

And goshdarnit, I don't want to debate you about this particular subject because I look up to you as a poster here, and this thread is about divisiveness amongst fans LOL

Yes. The club has had good opportunities to suceed and it should have! But Witten, for example, couldn't shape that "team" destiny by himself.

Thanks, likewise... I was surprised to see that it was you responding as I generally like your postings.

I don't want to use this to influence anyones opinion because I generally don't like any claims of insider info; however just so you know why I'm so adament about Dez, it is partially due to things I know about from living here and from crossing paths with many people that are very close to the situation ( Dez and Cowboys). For everything that comes out in the media, there are many other things that have happened with Dez that are quite disturbing.

If Jerry was not the owner, Dez probably wouldn't have gotten the new contract. Stephen probably wasn't going to give it to him. His old agent knew all the details and that's the reason he was willing to work with the Cowboys to get a reasonable deal. Jerry caved and overruled Stephen which usually does not go well (See Hardy).

First off, thanks for the kind words, coming from you that's high praise, X.

When you mention living locally and rubbing elbows with the local folk, that makes perfect sense, and I stand corrected. I thought your original take pertained to local media that people outside of Dallas weren't privy to. I was wrong for assuming that.

Can I ask, do you see S Jones handling this org differently when Jerry is finally gone? I see him giving media interviews and it discourages me. Makes me feel like he's towing the family line of having to be front and center. We need our owners behind the scenes, always. Do you see S Jones hiring a GM when J Jones is gone?

Just a pet peeve of me, nothing personal.........I just hate when everyone decides so-so deserves a ring

Witten is a beast and you couldn't ask for a tougher player and teammate

I can only imagine Stephen would be dying to hire a Professional GM. He is wealthy and probably just wants to enjoy the wealth and run the business.

Man, I really hope so. I get discouraged when I see his media caps, even if they offer us juicy nuggets.

The North East franchises don't handle business that way, and I hope Stephen adopts the way of Mara, Rooney, and Kraft to name a few, as it pertains to staying out of sight, out of mind.

I'd also dispute age has anything to do with any particular posters' bias in this case, for the record.

You are way off here. I think age has a whole lot to do with your outlook on every thing in life, not just to do with the Cowboys. I think the younger posters on this board are a whole lot more optimistic and forgiving than the older ones in general.

That's false. There's plenty of 40-50 year olds waving their pompoms and dismissing anything the Cowboys do wrong.

"Way off" is hyperbole, as you can't ever prove your statement, it's an opinion, that you would never be able to prove unless you took some sort of survey, focusing on their optimistic take on the Cowboys "and life in general" (LOL)

Now that I agree with, Haley. With age, comes wisdom. But not a grounded view of Dallas Cowboys football. Two vastly different subjects. I respect my elders, but I'm also self aware.

I am talking over 50, and I have been on this board since before Reality took it over. You can look up a lot of peoples ages. Most of the over 50 people you will find are pretty crusty in general and not ieadealistic at all.
