The Garrett bashing is trite, tired, and lacking in truth

Anybody is a better option than Weeden.

To a fan. Really, though, Moore would definitely have been worse. And Cassel wasn't up to speed with the offense. Regardless, none of the QBs we have on the roster win the game today. Best bet if you're going to change QBs is to do it after the bye, where you've got an extra week to bring him up to speed and two full weeks to install a game plan with a new QB. You also might have Dez to work with.

It is painfully obvious that Garrett only gets by on the coattails of Romo. He adds nothing to a team. If he has to have a team full of superstars to win then we could get by with anyone at HC. Every team has to deal with injuries. Everyone says look at the team Garrett built yet the team he built has a stiff at backup QB?

There's not a coach in the league, including Belichick, who takes Weeden and beats Brady today.

Our team---whatever else you may say about it--is usually prepared and they play hard. We're getting beat right now because we lack talent at key offensive positions, and because we're still making mistakes along the OL in some situations.

Nobody said that anyone expected for us to beat the the Patriots with Weeden. But what I as a fan do expect is for the head coach to put the best possible players to at least give us a chance. The fact that JG thinks that the guy who hasn't won in how many starts now is their best opportunity to win causes me to seriously question his judgment, or lack of judgment, as a head coach.

Is that the fact that "we're playing hard" what we consider success for this team now? Because if so my oh my have our standards fallen.

I expect much more than that from this team. I expect for us to beat a pitiful Saints team. I expect for us to make halftime adjustments against the Falcons and pick up a few first downs and run time off the clock rather than forcing our defense out there on the field for the majority of the 2nd half. I expect for a head coach to actually hold his team, his coaches, and himself accountable for a lack of performance. I realize that that's a foreign concept for so many fans and this organization but come on.

We should expect so much more for this team.

Are you seriously taking the position that despite not having Romo or Dez we should have beaten teams QB'ed by Matt Ryan, Drew Brees and Tom Brady?

No offense, but that's just dumb.

I agree with that. Though I would've played Cassel in the 2nd half today. Worst case scenario? We lose 30-3 instead of 30-6. Big deal.

Now back to your point though...the time to make a clean, clear-cut decision is now. So Cassel gets all the reps and he can prepare. If they stick with Weeden and he bombs in 2 weeks in the first half and THEN JG decides to go to Cassel, thats foolish. Tell the guy he is starting and give him all the reps.

A woeful Philly team did . . . . . . . . . . . . and it wasnt even close.

Philly is healthier than we are, and they were at home.

The notion that a Cowboy team QB'ed by Brandon Weeden should beat any NFL team with an upper tier QB is complete nonsense.

He'll have been in the system for a month. That's long enough for a smart guy. Cassel also has familiarity with it because it was derivative of Norv Turner's offense, which he ran in MIN.

I had thought a change might be on the table after they reviewed film and thought about it for a day or two. The fact that they started in immediately after the game tells me it was a topic of discussion already and that they were already prepared for the possibility in advance.

I think that ended today................Cassel will get the start in New York since its basically the season on the line.

The season isn't on the line. We win that NY game, we're on top of the East with a season sweep of the Giants. If we lose, we're two games back with ten to go.

No, it actually isn't. But hey, keep up making excuses.

You make it sound like there's no other team has been able to compete once their players get hurt.

I guess in your mind we should just give up and get the excuse train rolling because that's essentially what you're saying.

And we were up 14 points three different times against Atlanta even with Matt Ryan. So what's the excuse there? I guess they must have realized they weren't supposed to be competing with them while they were at full strength.

Here's a perfect motto for all you fans making excuses.

Is it ok to bash garrett now ?? or is it still "trite":muttley:

I think many thought the cowboys had a small chance at beating NE, and most would have been satisfied with a good showing.
I was fairly sure they would lose, but I did think they would score a couple of TD's ! and at least 20 points.
One FG per half doesnt look like good coaching, no matter if Romo and Dez are not playing.

The funny thing was again CM got 1 carry on 3rd and 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he got first down on a nice run and then they took his butt out !
cant have first downs, get him back over here on the sideline .......for the rest of the game !!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah thats how you do it.
Makes no sense to me,but maybe it does to others ?

At the half JG said no QB change without a thought,

I thought after their secret practices, we would see some new players like cassel, and CM, and some new plays, and formations, but no
pretty much same ol plays and players.
Jason said they just will keep banging away, and again makes no sense to me.

After today I think the giants will win game 6 and I doubt cowboys win the next 3 unless they change some things.

Then why is he here?

Exactly. If he's not good enough to win then what's the point of him being here?

This isn't a game where you get participation trophies just for simply showing up.

Why this attitude has been adopted by the fan base and the organization is quite maddening.

Got any examples of these teams that we able to keep winning despite losing multiple all-pro caliber skill players for an extended period of time?

I guess in your mind we should just give up and get the excuse train rolling because that's essentially what you're saying.

Who said anything about giving up? I said that it isn't realistic to expect to win when we don't have Romo or Dez...especially when our backup is an utter nonentity.

And we were up 14 points three different times against Atlanta even with Matt Ryan. So what's the excuse there? I guess they must have realized they weren't supposed to be competing with them while they were at full strength.

If games were 30 minutes long those that might mean something. Unfortunately for us they aren't.

Uh-huh. NFL games are generally decided by playmakers. We just don't have any of those guys right now.

Then why is he here?

That's like asking "why have one of those tiny little spare tires that are only intended to get you to the next gas station"?

Weeden was never intended to be anything more than a guy who could start a game or two in an emergency. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way, and we are paying the price.
