Sooooo i guess the teams in the 70's and 90's had no distractions? How do you read this post and then come with such a lame *** reaply. Its way to easy to blame T.O., the blame needs to go 1) the Coaches, 2) Romo. Why are we handling Romo with kid gloves? Three year's in a row Romo has come up weak in the playoff's and or game's we need (i.e. win and your in)!!!!!!All that said, Tony Romo is our guy. We love him so lets treat him like a Cowboy QB we want hin to be, but first off lets treat him like a man needs to be. When the team does well who gets the credit? But when the team does poor, lets give him the credit and hold his *** to the fire just like you do T.O.
I do hold Romo accountable too. but Owens is just a waste. he brings too much crap to this team. he used the media to get famous and now he's famous for being a selfish *******. having Owens has stunted Romo's growth as a qb because Romo/coaches/jerry are too concerned with getting Owens the ball. we need to stop running our offense through owens and start running it through(no pun intended) our running game to protect Romo. we need to protect Romo cause unlike our crappy oc thinks, Romo isn't as good as he and everyone thinks.

I respect that man, you came and gave legit reason's and not same T.O. this, T.O. that crap. Im not even saying that T.O. hasnt caused some or any of the distraction's on the team, just hold everyone accountable (NAH-MEAN)... I do agree also that the team needs to start running the ball more, i mean look at the back's that we have?!?!?!?! I hate to say it but do we start looking to trading one of them maybe for a pick?

I hear ya, I hear ya! Anyway good luck to us next year, rather should i say in the off-season cause we need to start NOW!!! Its a shame when all we have to look forward to is Jerry's stadium. Another year year of Wade, Davis, and Garrett. :bang2:

all we can do is hope this team can play to it's potential and put every little stupid thing aside and just go out and ball on Sundays next season.

I agree Ramp. They need to use Felix and Choice a lot more in the first 3 quarters, while sprinkling in some Barber, and then using Barber to absolutely hammer defenses in the fourth quarter after they're tired from chasing Felix and Choice all over the field.

That is the right plan for these guys.

It's like telling jokes about white, Christian males, because you know that no one will challenge you on it because it's the "in vogue" and acceptable thing to do.

Those "White Christian Males" have really got it rough!

It appears that the analogous comparison went right over your head.
I'll give you another one to ponder:
Blaming T.O. for Dallas' troubles is like putting "Obama" stuff all over your car. Takes no courage, no originality, no nuggets to do that. Because you're just "going with the flow", the "cool" thing to do, the "chic" and popular opinion. Put a "George Bush" bumper sticker on your car............now THAT takes nuggets and guts.
Blaming T.O. was, is and always will be the easy thing to do, takes no consideration or thought, and your automatically guaranteed to be "in" with the "chic" and popular crowd. It's the "default" position as soon as anything goes wrong, no matter what team he plays for.
I understand, and already conceded that his reputation precedes him, and he probably brought this pre-determined assault upon himself. But being a Cowboy fan since '64, I, like many, have been watching his every move since he arrived. And I don't see anything untoward or disruptive about his time in Dallas.
Again, his only sin is that, from time to time, very minimally, he airs whatever he's upset about outside of the locker room. And, each time it's happened, it's always about one beef he has............he wants to WIN and the teams NOT WINNING...............every time..............like clockwork. Even when on the surface it appears to be selfishness, like complaining about not getting the ball enough, it's because he knows, correctly, that getting him the ball is on the shortlist of getting Dallas some wins.
I gave you my opinion about the Cowboys three problems: Meddling ownership, rotten and uninspired coaching, and Romo needs to be "Holmgrenized" by somebody. Any honest broker or even casual observer (of which there are none when it comes to the Cowboys) would agree with that assesment.
T.O. deserves and should play out his career, a H.O.F. career, in Dallas. He's earned it. He's apparently "got it" that this is his lastest/bestest shot and he's determined not to "blow it" or "wear out his welcome". I see very little to NONE of the shenanigans in San Fran and Philly that got him in trouble...............................

avaj

T.O. is not getting blame no more then Wade, Romo and Jerry

C'mon man, lets keep it real

I still think he is our 3rd or 4th best player on the entire team. He just needs a big armed QB that can hit him once he gets his legs churning, thats what made him and Donovan so lethal. Extend the play, wait for 81 to break down the coverage and hit him in stride. Big plays everytime. I don't know if our QB has the arm to make those throws, or we have the protection to allow those routes to develop.

You want to see an anemic offense, wait till 81 leaves. Then you'll see a very slow group of receivers Roy, Crayton, Witten, Bennett - with Austin as our only speed and big play guy.

Don't say anything and you won't have anything for ESPN to report.

Again, follow the conversation.

If T.O. would just shut his mouth and keep things privately, ESPN wouldn't have anything to report. But nnnoooooo. He has a one-on-one interview with Deion Sanders and blabs about not getting the ball. And ESPN picks up that information and runs with it.

He's up at the podium having press conferences with the media. He doesn't have to do that. Why doesn't he just answer questions in the locker room and keep his big mouth shut. Why can't he just say, "I am a team player and whatever the scheme is I'm going to do what I can to make it successful and make it work?"

And, then, if he has a problem with the scheme, go quietly to Garrett and discuss it?

But because he's T.O., and because he has to shoot his mouth off publicly, when ESPN via Ed Werder, finds out he's not happy with Romo throwing the ball to Witten, of course they're going to make it a big deal.

You know why?

BECAUSE T.O. HAS MADE IT A BIG DEAL PUBLICLY!!!!!

Don't get mad at the media for doing what it does. Get mad at T.O. because he keeps running his mouth.

OK. He does need to keep quiet more. I don't like that of him. But it hardly hurts the team that much. If you don't understand there are players who don't like other players but can still play football with them then...

OTOH, you never see the other side of the equation. Someone continuing to ask the same question over and over and over and over and it has nothing to do with football. It's soap opera questions. "TO are you having problems with Witten?" "Yeah, we're thinking about breaking up. It's just not working for us. I'm going back to women." "Do you think you're becoming a distraction for the team?" "Yeah, that's my job. Make sure you get that in print."

Same thing over and over and it's the same people. And when they don't get an answer then it's the anonymous sources say what I'd like them to say. And your anonymous sources thing is as fragile as you are. If he had someone saying something he'd report it. Anyone who doesn't want their name attached to a criticism needs to really be quiet.

They are people here who continuously bait people to get into a brawl with them. And you don't see that either. Oh, wait. I'm wrong. You are one of those people. That you, Ed?

BTW, you can have the last word since I'm sure you would anyway. Save yourself some time and just paste in your comments from another thread.

Funny how other teams in the league are able to thrive and win championships without the benefit of his services, yet somehow he's indispensable to Dallas. Yep, very funny indeed.

The majority of teams in this league haven't thrived and flat-out sucked for years, with a couple play-off appearances here and there, never winning a championship....

I would love for Randy Galloway to read this thread. He would have a fit. And I would be defending everything he has to say about this idiot T.O. People become so blind as soon as they put on the star.

Again, nothing original or proven or factual. Just parroting the lemming "lock step" talking points your being fed by the media.

Give me an instance, JUST ONE, where T.O. has done or said ANYTHING detrimental to this team that was outside his burning desire to win. I already gave you that his mouth perhaps "runneth over" his brain. But even then, why? Because he wants to win and is frustrated.
Who of you out there is not equally frustrated? Huh? Anyone out there satisfied with this debacle? This team needs more T.O.'s who lose sleep at night over this joke.
Unless your satisfied with what you've seen the last two years, you have no choice but to agree with the FEW TIME'S that Owens has voiced his frustrations.
Again, I'm waiting for the evidence..............show us when and where Terrell Owens has been out of line or has been a "team wrecker" or a locker room nightmare". I'm waiting..............

Lighten the heck up man. This is not a court of law. Stop asking for evidence. Your arguments are no more compelling than others. Owens is a narcissist who sometimes masks "wanting to win" with wanting his stats padded. Maybe we havent seen as much with the boys but you cant ignore his past. From yelling at his coaches on the sidelines with the 49ers, to refusing to be traded to the Ravens, to the I love me some me crap, to calling his teammate gay, etc, etc, etc, etc we have all seen his m.o. If you think he has changed your naive.

Even if it is indirect and unfair and not his fault he is still disruptive by ending up causing other players to have to talk about him on sideline interviews or during the week. He is by no means the only problem but he is a problem.
Oh and here is something specific - THREE times this year, at least that I recall, he caught a pass and had to move forward 1/2 yard for a first and instead backpeddled like Pac Man returning a punt and lost the first down. After all these years in the league you cant blame that on coaching. That's a sign of a selfish player.

Here we go again. You people are a broken record of ignorance.

yelling at his coaches on the sidelines with the 49ers

1. One coach (Greg Knapp), not "coaches"

2. Yelling at coaches on the sidelines is not even remotely uncommon in professional football. Jerry Rice did it numerous times. Steve Young tried to assault George Seifert; luckily Marc Trestman was in the way to take Young's verbal beating.

The very same week everyone made a huge deal out of Owens shouting at Knapp for a few seconds after the latter called a running play with 10 in the box on 4th and 2 with the 49ers down 28-0 to the Vikings (in 2003), the VERY SAME WEEK, Rich Gannon was shown screaming at Bill Calahan on the sidelines.

Troy Aikman screamed at players and coaches all the time. Same with Michael Irvin.

to refusing to be traded to the Ravens

Is there a problem here? Do you remember what actually happened?

Owens was supposed to be a free agent, only his agent "didn't file the paperwork." At least that's what 49ers scumbag GM Terry Donahue wanted you to believe.

The reality is the 49ers never sent David Joseph the paperwork. The arbitrator was about to grant T.O. free agency, which is why the 49ers/Ravens/Eagles negotiated the deal to send him to Philly.

The 49ers had told Owens before they traded him that he would have the final say in which offer he chose. Then, when the Ravens offered the 49ers a 2nd round pick, Donahue pulled the trigger without notifying him.

to the I love me some me crap

You can NOT be serious. Please tell me you're joking.

You're going to use his NFL sideline "pump up" sound bites as a complaint against him?

to calling his teammate gay

Jeff Garcia was not his teammate at the time that interview was conducted (summer of 2003).

, etc, etc, etc, etc

Etc etc etc etc?

You're right, there are literally HUNDREDS of other things that people have tried to make into a big deal about Terrell Owens. He misses some training camp with a hamstring injury and it's "is he faking it?!?!" He wears a freak'n Lance Armstrong outfit just to lighten the mood when he's rehabbing and somehow people don't have a sense of humor anymore. He says the team had too many penalties and he's "throwing the penalty committees under the bus."

On another note, I noticed all of the "incidents" you listed were from 2003 and beyond. None from 2000-2002. Why is that?

Why is it that people act like the media libel and character assassination just began in 2003? In 2000-2002 he was EVERY BIT AS MALIGNED IN THE MEDIA. Every single bit.

What had he done to that point? When did it start?

It all started when he went to the star twice to celebrate touchdowns in 2000. Immediately after, he was the biggest villain in sports. None of those other things had come up yet.

There is not a damn bit of difference between how he is portrayed now and has been since 2003 and how he was portrayed then. If you watch old ESPN Sunday Countdowns from 2001 you'll see them ranting and raving on how awful he is for 5 minutes every other show.
