The running game thread

I think having a quality RB in the back field would be a big help. I can't say that if that 1 thing was different we could clearly win, I don't know that. I do think it would give us a better chance.
I hate hypothetical questions because they always tend to be based on ones own bias yet it is a complete unknown that can't be answered

No doubt. And yet we all continue to use them and debate them, go figure!

I don't see how anyone can grade the RB's when the OL is not playing anywhere close to last season standards. I'm constantly seeing penetration in the backfield. Free looked horrible run blocking last night.

That is a big cause for some heated debate around here. As Dandy Don always said if, if's and but's were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas.

Yea the Murray who doesn't fit in Chip Kelly's system. The Murray who rejuvenated our running game. All off season all I heard was that anybody could run behind our line. Well it doesn't look like anybody can. Randle is a joke.

I laugh at people who act like 2014 OL and 2015 OL are the same....and that all the other factors are the same as well. No Romo, no Dez, lesser blocking, and we can't think of any reason why the RBs might not be having the same success....really?

It could be because the RB's suck too. Like I said, they didn't look that great with Romo. And when your QB is out that's when the OL has to step up....especially if they're elite.

It could be, but I don't see it. Randle has weaved through a lot of traffic just to get back the line of scrimmage sometimes. The OL hasn't been up to snuff (The biggest problem IMO), and adding in the other factors just makes it worse. The fact is though, you cannot honestly compare the RBs performance this year to last year as if the circumstances are the same.

Especially when you see the opposing team's constantly in the backfield and no holes to be found except in the 1st qtr.

I thought it was just a plug and play. You could even do it with your eyes closed and half a brain.

It aint the RB's and it aint the OL coach.

You tell an NFL team where and when you're going to run the ball and guess what an NFL team will do?

We have no balance and we don't even try to take advantage of 1 on 1 coverage.

Have to disagree here. We told them where and when we were going to run the ball in the 90s and last season. We need a RB. C-Mike should be given the rock in what many are already chalking up to be a loss anyway. I got a gut feeling that if they ride him against the Patriots the outcome of that game will look a lot different than what people think.

This ain't the 90s.

It's parity football...

College football you used to see teams run it down everyone's throats as well.. The powerhouses like Nebraska eventually just couldn't line up and run it anymore either even at that
Even.

Football has evolved and if you let these defenses know what you're doing the majority of the time they will stop it.

Accept the RBs we have :omg:

Hopefully you understood the sarcasm in that comment. So many of our fellow fans hopped on the "anyone can run behind our all world oline" bus during the offseason especially around the time when it was decided that Demarco wouldn't be returning to Dallas.

What do I hear now?

Crickets

Hmm. How important was Bill Callahan? HMMM

Our run game will take a hit because Romo and Bryant is out. When your leader is there making positive plays it changes everyone's attitude and makes them work their *** off. Then you have Weeden and Randle back there just messing up drives. I think our morale is low atm. I don't think the offense believes it can win.

I'm done with Randle. He's smiling after doing the stupid dive when he got the touchdown. The coaches told him not to do that anymore and he did anyway. The O-Line is playing like crap. They have to be better. That's the bottom line. They need to play like the line that everyone says is the best line in football. They aren't the best. Not right now anyway. But Randle gets the ball and dances around and he acts like a clown. I'm not saying McFadden has been all that much better but I think he's better for the team right now. It's not Randle

If you feel it was Callahan...that's fine. I'm one who feels players make plays.

You said it's not like they should have forgotten how to block.. so what's the change? Guys that are supposedly "Garrett" guys, who don't quit, are suddenly quitting?

It's hard to be the best when all the defense has to do is dare Weeden to throw it more than 10 yards. We don't have the weapons to help any facet of our offense. Running, receiving, blocking all will be effected because of our passing game. The defense doesn't have to do much but play a mediocore first half then beat us in the 2nd half when our hand is already shown.

Had many debates during the offseason about the running game and repeatedly said it won't be as good as last season. The Cowboys gambled by banking on the talent they have on the OL rather than the talent they have at RB. It was a very predictable mistake. A strong running game would have given the team much more of a chance to survive the loss of Romo and some of their other players.

I'm not sure what you're watching...at all.
